 They do a really good job kind of giving you the necessary performance you need in the binding to match the ski, so you can buy it like this. Definitely nothing wrong with that. I mentioned at the beginning of the video that you can buy it with boots too, so that's something that we really pride ourselves on here at Ski Essentials is we pick boots that we think go really well with these skis. They're always going to be more comfort-oriented boots, a little wider

 It's pretty darn agile in moguls. There's enough width here and width this tip and tail shape that you can actually handle some softer snow conditions too, which is really nice to have in a ski like this. So with some skis, when you see the integrated binding, when you see a more affordable price, you often see a narrower ski that's best on groomers, and there are benefits to skis like that, but if you're looking for a little bit more versatility and also a little bit more overall performance, I think this Stance 80 is great. You can buy it just like this, ski and binding, really actually quite a nice, solemn binding on this ski

 The ski will have greater grip right underfoot than what you've been used to, but it's still pretty loose in the tips and tails, so it's not like you're jumping up so much in performance that it's going to be punishing or hard to ski or just not that much fun. This is still a very, very fun ski that's still very easy to use. 80 underfoot is great on groomers, very quick edge to edge. I think it's wide enough to start taking these things off trail too

 So just cool that it kind of makes the cut into that ski test, but also extremely affordable. So Salomon uses a woodcore in this ski. It's a Poplar woodcore. Poplar is a great material for ski construction because it's light, but it's also strong

 So metal underfoot for grip and torsional stiffness, and then that carbon in these window areas here to add that stiffness to the four aft flex of the ski without having the weight of the metal. So it's a really light swing weight ski, super easy to get from edge to edge, and just a really smart way of building the ski. So in that underfoot area, we do have that half sidewall and then that tapers into a cap throughout the forebody and the tail. Again, the whole point is lightening the swing weight, making this thing easy to get from edge to edge, but still keeping those materials in there for that high performance ceiling

 And then just a little bit of that early taper again, bringing that widest point down in the tail, you know, making that side cut really stick to the middle, giving you better exits through softer snow. So whether you're out there on a powder day or if the snow is just cut up at the end of the day, it's really going to help keep that smooth and stable throughout. But great ski here, awesome for that intermediate to advanced lady who's spending most of their time on groomers but also wants a little bit of off-piece stuff built in. I think this thing has it all

 This one here is the 167. Great ski here for advanced intermediate skiers, spend most of their time on the groomers. We do have the system binding on here, so it's going to be a little bit on the heavier side. 2763 grams on the scale, so not too heavy, taking that binding into account for sure

 You can actually see where they cut out that metal on the top sheet to just reduce weight and make it easier to turn. But they use that metal in order to help you with edge control and stability and the smooth ride. 80 under waist is a great intermediate beginner skier. It's going to really help you link your turns

 So I think a lot of ladies that are looking to get more into skiing this would be a great starter ski for you. It's going to be super responsive and really you're not going to be chattering along the the trail. You're going to be able to actually have a smooth ride and again link those turns. Work on linking your turns with a ski like this

 In fact, I think it's important to note how much camber is in this ski. That helps give it more of an energetic flex pattern, a nice responsive feel when you're coming out of a turn. And let's take a look at that flex pattern while we're talking shape, not the stiffest ski in the world. You know, I think if you flex this up against the Stance 90, you'd notice that the 80 is quite a bit stiffer

 So you get a good amount of rocker back here in the tail and some taper too. That means it's going to be easy to get the tail to come around behind you if you get into a tricky situation, challenging terrain, or if you just kind of make a mistake and need to get back in rhythm. So I think it's really cool that Salomon kind of took the Stance line and made these two new models that are a little more approachable. The 90, 96, and 102 are pretty heavy, tiring, demanding skis

 Noticeable most in swing weight by replacing metal with carbon, the swing weight of the ski is drastically being reduced, which makes them less fatiguing, a little easier to ski I should say, but you still get the performance benefits of metal and carbon. So again, at $499 with a binding, with a sheet of metal, and some carbon fiber, you're getting a lot of technology in this ski for not very much money in my opinion. Let's take a look at shape too. You get a lot of camber underfoot

 If you spend most of your time on groomers, maybe you're at the intermediate level, I'd say even like a fairly experienced more beginner skier could potentially use these as like a stepping stone. Probably the best application is for somebody who's just starting to work on their carves or rather start perfecting their carving turns, really go from kind of the skidding, smearing turns to a carved turn. This is a great, great choice for something like somebody like that. It'll help help promote progression in your skiing

And while a beginner could ski on this, it would be a great first set of skis for someone who's been out there a couple times and wants something to learn and progress on. It's also really great for an intermediate skier that's looking to make a jump to the next level

 Hi, I'm Billy and I run our boot team at Snow & Rock in Chertsey and I've been out here in Kutai today testing out the Salomon Stance 80. It's a brilliant all-mountain ski. Your high intermediates when moving to advanced ski is going to benefit from this perfectly. It's a nice stable ski at high speeds, but only being 80mm underfoot, your shorter, sharper turns on piste, they're going to whip around nice and quick for you

 So this ski is a brilliant all-mountain option. If you want something a little bit wider, a little bit stiffer, check out our Stance 84 and the Flatdeck Stance 90. Both a little bit stiffer options with more body underfoot give you a bit more float in that softer snow.
