 I think this is just a fantastic shoe. If you're into the lightness and you want a comfortable shoe with amazing outsole, great great option. Uh, but overall if you are just looking for a good trail running shoe, as long as you get them in the right size so that you are nice and comfortable and they fit you right, you're not going to be disappointed.  These new ones are no exception. In fact, like I said, they are actually even lighter. yes, currently 130 on Amazon. Excellent traction and stability, Excellent comfort level

 And these obviously are trail running shoes. So you want to be able to run properly in these shoes and you definitely can without putting stress on your heels, transferring to your ankles, transferring to your knees.  A nice big beefy pull tab on the back here that is great to see as well. You have a molded over you have a molded ortholite sole. Um, great. Great sole there

 Yeah, I mean they did really well today. I think that they're going to make me feel a little bit more nimble than normal. As I said, I took my i took some Loa hiking boots on a 14 or I recently did Quandary Peak and they did extremely well. They gave me great ankle support but I felt like if I had something like this on you know, a couple hundred grams lighter that this would be much better for for that hike

 Um, did a quick five miles in them and it wasn't It wasn't anything crazy, but it was a good test to see how they do. You have the contra grip outsole, which Solomon is known for having some awesome outsoles so that's here. Um, the nice contra grip 3d chassis here and the lugs are pretty pretty big but nothing crazy. You've got your 3d mesh here that Solomon has

Looking to get much more into it this summer and also do a National Park trip to hike and camp a bit - was curious where I should look for footwear - my understanding is boots are heavier and more durable - better for serious hiking or cold weather/bad weather hiking - basically more hardcore.  I've never had any issues. You've got a lace pocket here to put the laces in. I always get a consistent fit. I just cinch that up and I'm good to go

This has opened my mind to the possibility of trail running to remote campsite for overnighters, UL minimalist style, with a bag that is big enough for essentials plus small shelter (MSR freelite 2p tent or strongly considering the Outdoor Research stargazer bivy).

My commute is 12km in to work then the return home. I’m thinking trail runs of 25km to overnighter campsites.

What bag do you use on your commute to work or on trail/ultra runs?

Only brand that I can find that feels good on my feet is Salomon. I’d love some Altra’s because of how many awesome things I’ve heard about them, but they just don’t fit my feet at all.

I'm currently debating between the Altra Lone Peak 5 shoes and the La Sportiva Ultra Raptors (which are so so ugly but have fantastic reviews). Which pair do you think would be better for long distance (or short) hiking and eventually some back country camping trips in places like Algonquin National park, Sleeping Giant etc.

Also, is there another shoe I should be looking for?

I personally don't care about having GTX shoes. I would prefer to have more breathability. Support is important since I do want to do back country camping trips where I will be carrying all my camping, food and photography gear.

Hey all.  I just got into trail running but need a bit of advice on water.  My vest has two 500ml soft bottles but one litre isn't enough capacity.  I hike a lot and use a filter on those,  but on runs I would rather not filter the traditional way.  Does anyone have experience with inline filtering and does it work as well as you would like?  If so what is your setup?  Basically I'd like to put dirty water into a bladder and not have to filter it into the bag...i.e. filter as I drink.
