Hi! Recently I bought a Samsung Q80T 75" and I'm missing a more powerful sound system (and considering the size of the screen, it feels that the TV speakers are really sh\*tty).

Since I live in Brazil and everything here is amazingly expensive, I'm considering buying the JBL 5.1 or, if it's not enough for my needs, the 9.1 one.

The problem is: what are my needs really? I wanna good surround feedback, it doesn't need to be that loud, but since my living room is not uniform, the removable speakers would be a great tool to help the surround.

Considering the 5.1 costs about 750 USD and the 9.1 costs about 1250 USD here, which one would you recommend?

Is there any feature from the Q80T I'll miss using the 5.1 or not?

(I'd appreciate it if any Brazilian could comment on this thread and give me some feedback as well)

Edit.:

So, in the end, I went with neither of them, I saw a good deal and got a Q950A. Using it for about a week now, still no regrets. Here in Brazil it costs about the same as the JBL 9.1 and, as far as I could see, just like the 9.1, it&#39;s great for 5.1 and it doesn&#39;t have the battery issue for the surround speakers.

Loving it.

JBL 5.1 or JBL 9.1 for a Samsung Q80T?

 No difference. Even went as far as upgrading the firmware with the July 2022 version, performing a factory reset on my Samsung 43 TV and a factory reset of the soundbar. Worth noting that I tried different power sources - plugging the woofer and soundbar into independent power outlets, with and without a surge protector. NOTHING

 I guess I will find out soon enough. Fingers crossed that this is just a faulty/wiring issue with the subwoofer. I am posting this to make others aware of the challenges with this product and maybe to spare you from the 4+ hours of frustrating troubleshooting, disappointment, and emotional/psychological exhaustion. So, much for movie night :(

Faulty subwoofer

 Maybe I was expecting too much, but I got more Watts than was recommended for the size of our room, and it just isn't enough! If anyone has any suggestions for getting better performance (other than getting a hearing aid!) - I'd appreciate the feedback.

 When we play older DVDs on our new TV, without the sound bar the volume was too low to hear at all if there was any background noise (even a neighbor mowing his grass, or trucks going by). With the old TV, these same videos would require max volume, but we could hear it if maxed out. With the new TV, and with no sound bar, the background noise would wipe out the volume and we'd have to replay a segment. With the sound bar, we are back where we were with the old TV -- just barely enough volume at Max

I ordered an Arc and Sub from the official site back in January. Initially, my thought was it was out of my range but i got 30% off to bring it down to the $1200 range. 

Well here we are in March and it seems that the earliest I'd receive is April. But even then i have my doubts.

The discount kind of felt like it locked me in (i actually paid for the discount code), but at some point i would maybe consider letting it go.

I'm going to keep an eye out for other deals. But what comparable soundbars would you be looking for with around the same budget?

I've kept an eye out for discounts on the Samsung HWq950a, and the Bose 900. Any others i should be including? I know by the time I could receive it's also getting deeper into spring where new products are going to come out. Would any of you cancel and wait?

Frustrated and open to some thoughts.

Alternatives to Sonos Arc and Sub

Defective - new one works without any issues.

The Samsung soundbar performs a bit better, especially with its out-of-the-box sound. On its stereo and surround channels, it offers a more neutral frequency response than the LG's boomy sound.

Does anyone know the full specs of the Samsung Q990B and the LG S95QR? I'm really intrigued with S95QR IMAX Enhanced and total wattage (810?), but history shows that Samsung will be better.

This was at the low to mid point in pricing. The sound quality is acceptable as an adjunct to your tv's internal speaker but if you think this will provide a rich sound.. it doesn't

 Now for the good This was child's play to hook up.. I used both optical and wireless.

A hit.. and a miss

It excels in making movies and series sound incredible, and music really goes to another level as well. I am very happy, especially considering I got it on a huge sale, getting it for the same price as Samsung's cheaper HW Q600A.

Take forever to get it to connect finally Got the Bluetooth going got it set up there's a little bit of distortion And the remote does not work if you turn the volume down by the remote mutes it So I cannot get it set up to where it sounds right with the TV because the remote doesn't work Totally disappointed it was Samsung so I thought I was getting quality in quality I guess I might end up having to pack this one up too and sending it back
