 So I'm riding the the S build so comes to the Fox 34 up front and the DPS shock Outback crisps up there is on the XO one bill that comes with a pike and I think that that's the way to get the bike or at least find a way to get a pike on the front of this because the back of this bike feels deep. do the rear end feels amazing on this thing. Tank it out Matches the Fox 34 on the front. in my opinion that on the lower flow your trails, this rides almost as good as the Ripley I'd say let's talk about climb I Mean this is no longer like your quintessential climbing cross-country bike

 they're just super fun, really fast. So getting out on this tall boy for today I've just been licking my chops to get out on this so Chris was nice enough. Chris is the manager and kind of runs the shop over there. It's cool ride and Draper kind enough to get these bikes and come out with me and see what all the fuss is about about this new towel boy for so uh yeah, if you're local, head over to Go Ride and Draper talk to Chris or Manny Just excellent guys to work with and no bike business real well can get you set up

 But uh yeah, climbs good. Let's get up to the top here and see what this thing descends like. Whoa, How about a breath? The GoPro price effect probably doesn't show the steepness of that little trail, but gets kind of steep. I'm five foot eight riding a size medium today

 but I don't like tall boys? No problem. I've tried it in the the trail mode on that Fox DPS float shock and in the open position and both are really good. Come SPECT with a little bit bigger tires. the Dhf my max is up front and DHR two on the back

To me you’re exactly describing that downcountry category, so I’d say  take a look at Specialized Epic Evo, Yeti SB115, Revel Ranger, Evil Following, Santa Cruz Tallboy, and definitely a good hard look at the Transition Spur.

TL:DR a trail bike is optimal for my area but i love xc and am scared to miss the momentum and speed of xc, what should i do!

ok so, i have been riding mountainbike for about 9 years and have only ridden cross country hardtails. i am now 16 and i have saved up to buy a carbon full suspension bike. my issue is that my local trails are a very mixed bag, there are crazy downhill sections that are quite sketchy on my current xc bike but there are also really steep and techy uphills that i like to do on my xc bike. my friend and basically 80% of the locals are riding all mountain/enduro bikes, but they are hiking up the climbs. i want to get a bike that i enjoy, i love riding fast uphill and sending it straight down again on my xc bike but i can never keep up with anyone going downhill and im terrified to do the crazy jumps that my friend does. i want to buy a trail/all mountain bike but i am scared to loose the speed and momentum the xc bike gives me.

please help!

 It was kind of a camp to show you how capable the short travel bikes were and after that camp it was kind of a week of riding the gravel bikes, the blurs and the tall boys and that was a across a wide variety of terrain that started off and some would just kind of gravel roads up mountains. There was uplift there's on this particular bike and there was long cross-country routes and it was just mind-blowing how capable this bike was.  Yeah, it was really like using my heels a lot. like just like pumping this bike a lot more than I usually do. It doesn't have to be, it doesn't have to be a downhill Thrasher though. which is what I like about it

Best Full Suspension under $2500

I'm shopping for a bike to replace my Titus X that was stolen (mostly my own fault for not securing well). I loved the swift climbing of the Titus X which was set up for mainly XC use. I've ridden my brother's Pivot 429 which descends well, but was difficult to keep a line during climbs... though it was also sized incorrectly as he rides an L and I take an XL typically.

I'm now considering a Salsa Horsethief which my LBS has an XL in stock and a Trek Top Fuel, which I haven't test ridden yet as there is no stock within 500 miles of me. 

I love to ride flowing fast trails with banked turns and occasional hills and descents. I'm not really into park style, jumps, or pure downhill, but I do appreciate versatility in my bike. The Horsethief that I test rode seemed very versatile which enough travel to take hits. I tried out the Salsa Spearfish while I was there. That felt a lot more like my old Titus X as far as stiffness and responsiveness. 

Any other options that I should really be considering?

Looking for a new dual suspension in the $6000-$7000 range

Just got my first MTB in June, which happens to be a Santa Cruz Tallboy. Didn't even know anything about the bike, just went to a local shop and basically picked the the only real mtb that was left in stock. I'm a total beginner but the way this bike handles in every terrain gave me so much confidence that I was hitting the first jumps and bikeparks within 2 weeks. Absolutely love this thing!

What is you opinion on Santa Cruz bikes

Looking for a solid, rideable, 29er full suspension trail bike that also has a modern frame/geometry that I can get away with upgrading as things break or by feel as time goes on. Looking to get a new bike so I can ride it for a good handful of years.

Giant Trance X 29 3
Commencal Meta TR 29 - Love the look and frame but the origin is lacking in specs off the bat.

Looking to progress more in jumps/drops. Not trying to set PRs on climbs but also not doing any lift assisted parks so I'm pedaling everything. Midwest riding so a lot of ups and downs which is why I'm focusing on the Trail category.

Max $2500 on a full sus bike/frame to ride for 5-6 years

 You won’t want to line up at the local XC race with it, nor will you want to point it down the DH course, but you will want to climb and descend anything found in your local trails. You can push it and it responds. And, it can both get you into and back out of trouble without batting an eye. The Tallboy 4 is a blast of a bike for the masses

Between those hero turns, any drops or terrain features become child’s play as you can enjoy airtime, manuals or whatever you want to do. It’s under these conditions that the super-short 430mm chainstays shine and really shows the genius of Santa Cruz designers. It’s a blast to rip downhill. The 130mm PIKE Ultimate is a great match with the Tallboy and allows for responsive handling and maximum bump absorption

Since the Tallboy 4 arrived in the dead of winter, I had to initially be creative with my rides. As the weather has warmed, I’ve been able to venture deeper and deeper into the type of terrain that the Tallboy is made for. From the outset, I had the frame in the Lo setting, just to see how it behaved. If it doesn’t put a huge grin on your mug, you need to check your pulse because this bike is an absolute hoot to descend on

. Santa Cruz has spec’d quite the bike here and the foundation is something truly unique. We’re talking a 65.5 degree head angle and ultra-short 430mm chainstays, mated with a long and low geometry that’s uncommon in the 120mm travel space
