I play a schecter stiletto 5, never been a metal player. Mostly I live in the jazz, funk, and salsa world. I like it because it extends my range downwards without having to rely on the open E string and lower positions - if I'm mid-to-high up on the neck, I still have access to my E-string pitches without shifting down. It's also great for Merengue and Timba music!.

I’ve been using a Schecter Stiletto 5 string that I got used for like $300. It works great for what it is but I’ve been considering an upgrade for a little while. I’ve never really considered short scale basses but I recently saw a friend play a Gretsch JJ (I think that’s what it’s called) and it sounded awesome.
