1095HC steel from a company that PROBABLY knows how to properly heat treat it, big 14" slab of it for $35(give or take) is great, great value. Came ultra sharp, just like my SCHF9 did several years ago. Compare it to a Tops, Becker, Kabar, Esee, as far as materials used, it shines BIG. Quality Control blade is fine, handle not so much.

Good inexpensive choice for multiple uses.

Before I go into detail about why I only gave 2 stars, I want to say that the knife itself is—considering the price—very good, but I guess that is why the manufacturer had to save money on the sheath. As my pictures show the sheath completely dissolved after only 2 camping trips.  I bought the knife in December 2019, I went on a 3-day camping adventure and have since then used the knife mainly around the house. The knife and the sheath have been stored in my emergency bin in a closet under air condition

The sheath is garbage

The blade is thick and holds an edge well. I get the impression this knife will hold up to a lot of abuse.

Micarta handles are a personal preference and this handle came at about 90% comfort achieved. The handle edges were a smidge sharp, so I popped the pieces off and rounded them out with a file. It took very little time/effort and now the handle is quite comfortable.

Great bang for your buck

First of all I’m not exactly new to knives but I’m not a big-time collector either but I watched a couple reviews online and they seemed very promising especially for the $50 price. Obviously im not expecting it to be on par with the Esse and the becker bk9 but when I got the knife in hand I can say its definitely very sturdy the edge was nice and straight and seems to be a steal of a deal. my only major gripe is the micarta handle was not finished to my liking where the screw holes go through and was rather abrasive on the hand but a little bit of sandpaper and some profiling it’s now perfect. the fire steel is also good quality I haven’t tried the sharpener yet

 the sheath is well above my expectations and will do just fine. I removed the handles and stripped the factory oil and put in oven for 2 hours facing magnetic north, then coated the blade again with oil. Definitely recommend.

I bought this blade to have as a test blade to try some things like acid etching and removing coatings. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. The thick blade stock makes for a great chopper and capable camp blade. The micarta handles are attractive and comfortable

 The blade itself is just over 7 inches long, and the 5+ inch handle is covered by micarta scales. This knife has done everything I've asked of it, from fine cutting to moderate chopping. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is the flimsy nylon sheath. This knife deserves a better quality sheath

It’s clear certain compromises were made to keep this knife inexpensive, particularly with the sheath. Plus, some places of the handle scales were not flush with the blade. But I should state this is fantastic for the price. Higher end knives of similar sort run hundreds more, so this is exemplary for the cost
