 We'll go over here in a second. But yeah, the big changes. at least performance wise, are going to be the spool. The new reel is going to have more line capacity, but it's got an Mgl spool while the old one has less line capacity

 Now with the new reel, they have incorporated an Mgl spool, the old style that's got the side wall porting there, and a couple of little holes on only one side of the spool. Now the old reel, there was no porting at all, but as you can see, they narrow the channel where the line would lay, so that means that the old reel was a 100 line capacity, while the new one, as you can see, it's wider and it is a 150 line capacity. So I'm not sure how I feel about that because the old reel. since it holds less line

 I wasn't too impressed with the looks of the new Scorpion Dc at least in the videos, but let's see what it looks like in person. Oh man, look at that. Take a look at this reel. Okay, so now that I have it in hand and I'm looking at it, I actually like the looks of this reel

8 ounces and this is the Xg model and then the Croto Dc comes in at 7.87 ounces and the old Scorpion Dc is coming in at 7.6 ounces and the new one comes in at 7.85 So a small weight gain probably attributed to the longer beefier handle, But now it's time for the more important weight and that is the weight of the spools

 Let's go ahead and get this thing spooled up. Man, I hope you guys have some kind of idea of how excited I am about this reel. Like this last scorpion, she's definitely beat up. She's seen the pavement a few times

 it is just one way. It's also best to pinch your fingers around that line if you're doing it somewhat like this. That way your line goes on the spool nice and tight, and your first handful of casts are not just absolutely terrible. And you don't get a bird's nest right off the bat despite the fact you paid big money for a Dc reel

 It's only on this side of this specific reel because I'm sure it works best with the braking system that weight offset. I really am not 100 sure. but let me know if I'm not supposed to do this because usually when you spool up braid on your reel, you'll go ahead and do a little monofilament or fluorocarbon backing. just go around a few times

 I'll go ahead and post this gear ratio up on screen. Those two actually have like an 84 millimeter handle, so it's very subtle, right? Very subtle. But this one with that higher gear ratio is just wanting to crank those fish in there a little bit more. They the engineers over Shimano I guess decided that that extra little bit of length is going to help you crank these fish in on this Xg model

My shimano Curado DC 150HG paired with a G Loomis NRX 853C JWR. I don’t have many casting combos but this is still one of my favorites

I’m getting into my first baitcaster, and have a bit of cash on my hands. Any ideas for the price point? I’m looking at buying a jdm reel from Japan, but will change my mind for any better options. I’m doing trout and light saltwater fishing off rocks and kayaks. I would most likely be using 15 or 20 lb braid. I need something that can cast decently, as well as be saltwater rated. Thanks guys. I’m currently looking at the scorpion DC and the exsence ss.

Looking for a new Baitcaster around the 450nzd mark

If i was going to spend Curado money (~250) I’d splurge another 30 for the Scorpion DC (~280) with the IDC5 chip instead of the IDC4 in the Curado and SLX. - For me 60 extra bucks wasn’t worth the micro gears, but 90 extra would be worth it for the better DC chip and micro gears. IDC5 chip is the same chip as the metanium DC. Surpassed only by reels $650+ containing DC7

I've been wanting to get a new bait caster and have it narrowed down to a few options. I need this setup to be as all purpose as possible. For the reel I'm between the curado dc and the slx dc. For the rod either the dobyns fury or the st croix bass x.

So here are my questions:

1. Is the curado dc worth it over the slx dc? I've heard the only major difference is the gears and I'm not sure that reeling a bit smoother can justify the price difference.

2. Is there any major reason to pick the dobyns fury over the st Croix bass x or vice versa? They are basically the same price.

3. What gear ratio on the reel would be best for all purpose?

4. What length and action on the rod would be best for all purpose?

5. Any reccomendations on where to buy/deals I don't know about?
