 Hello everyone, one minute of jamming on this bass. This is, as you can see, a Sire P7, Sire Marcus Miller bass. As you can see, it's Sire's take on a P bass. I wanted to make a review showcase of it, I didn't really know the difference

 It is a good bass, but it is a mid-priced instrument because it costs like a mid-priced instrument. It feels like a mid-priced instrument. I don't know if it's, might sound better than a mid-priced instrument. I don't know

 And I don't have that low string action, so it is not as good as people say, oh, it's worth $4,000. No, it's not. It is a mid-priced instrument. Sire is very good at advertising it as a high end instrument, as a Sadowsky or a Lakeland or something, but it is not that

 I have Ernie Ball Cobalt on the bass, so of course, if you use Cobalt, it sounds amazing. Maybe if you use it on, yes, sounds good. The pickup sounds okay. The preamp is pretty good, not as good as many people say it's a blues preamp ever

Sire P7 Honest Review

Let's say hypothetically you're locked in your home - let's say maybe aliens have invaded your planet during their holiday and they kill every bass players they see/hear in the streets... But for some reason they don't break into homes so we stay there -. 

Let's say it's for a time period not defined yet (but probably at least one month until their holiday period is over and they come back home to Tralfamadore).

Let's say you're having a bad case of GAS'ing to compensate even if you already have one bass (more on this in soon) and you're a terrible player anyway.

Let's also say you already have a Jazz Bass or equivalent and you're looking for a P-Bass sound.

You have listed the following models to annoy the Aliens with your huge bass sound to spend your money to avoid spending your time drinking beers :

* Second Hand Fender Mexican P-Bass 
* Squier Vintage Modified P-Bass 
* G&amp;L LB-100
* Ibanez Tmb100m (not exactly a P Bass but it's cheaper and seems to be a great choice)

Finally, let's assume your wife will not kill you for spending the money that was planned to feed your children (they don't like bass and idolize guitar players so it's not a huge loss anyway).

In this fictional scenario wich may or may not be based on a true story, wich one would be your choice and why?

Best P-Bass under $400

 It is my in-ear monitor mix so you can hear it, see the little headphones in my ear. That is exactly what I'm listening to there. Bear in mind, we're in relatively small rooms in both Simes. I have an amp on the floor and there are subs as well

 So to finish this lesson off, I actually want to show you this bass in context and play you some clips of me actually using this bass. In the field. So this is recorded directly off the sound desk. The audio that you're going to hear, I encourage you to get a decent pair of headphones to listen to it

 And I've now done plenty of those and come away with absolutely no shoulder aches. So I know this is a really nicely weighted bass. I know at least three or four other top professional bass players here in the UK which are using these basses for their day to day work. So I can't recommend this bass high enough and any of the Sire range

 So please do go to your local store and check those out. If you're near Andertons in Guildford in London, make sure you pop in and talk to their guys there because they are super knowledgeable. So to finish this lesson off, I actually want to show you this bass in context and play you some clips of me actually using this bass. In the field

 With that nice smiley face EQ. This is all P pickup now. All bridge. Look at this mid sweep real quick

 So this is the P7. This is the five-string sort of precision-esque instrument. And let me run through the specs on this bad boy and then we'll get into some of the tonal features that Marcus has built into this. So again, it is a 34-inch scale

I’m a long time bassist (20 years), but I’ve always played a fretted bass.  I’m thinking of buying a fretless bass, and I’m looking for something less than a thousand dollars (because I’m not sure I’ll like it or use it). 

Those of you who have a fretless, what do you have that you like?   Do you have any suggestions?

For reference, I’m currently leaning toward a [Squier fretless j bass ](https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/JBassFLCV603TS--squier-classic-vibe-60s-fretless-jazz-bass-3-tone-sunburst).  I’d probably prefer pj pickups, but can’t find that for under a thousand.

Looking for advice on gear

I played basses too, and the feel and experience is pretty much the same. The Harley Benton Enhanced stuff is probably almost on the same page as the Sire Marcus Miller M7, (which I had, and even that with double the price is still good value) and an absolute no-brainer imo.

So i am thinking about getting a bass. I'll be getting a bass set, so the amp comes with it. I've looked some harley benton basses, especially the mb-4 sbk deluxe one and the pb-20 sbk one. I've also thought about getting either pj-4 htr deluxe or jb-75 sb vintage.

I play in a band, and the bass would be for freetime and I would record it, for the band you know.

I also want a cool looking bass at the same timr, I don't want any plain black one. 

So should i buy Harley Benton bass, and if so, which one? If not, then which bass would you recommend?
