 It is a fantastic camera to be running gun style. It's a great camera to be shooting handheld It's been an absolute dream to work with We don't balance this on a gimbal just because we have an FX3 So it makes more sense to run that on a gimbal, but it could easily be used on a gimbal And in terms of size and weight if you want to build it out like maybe you've seen in some of our other videos It is so modular it has capability of being built out into a Massive camera rig or you can shoot it in this sort of I don't call stripped down But sort of it's like out-of-the-box format You know you put a battery a lens a mic and an SD card in it And it's ready to rock and it amazing image quality just as is so fantastic size and weight number three Modularity just touched on this when I was talking about size and weight But as you can see there are just like an unbelievable number of mounting points all over this thing It's a very sturdy like body that you can really confidently attach things to it And then obviously there's companies like Tilta which we have for all of our cage and attachment points So you can get rails underneath it you can get the rail blocks on the top and it really can be built out into something Much much bigger and more robust with a lot of confidence so absolutely Tons of freedom you can even strip it down even more than this take the top handle off You could take the side handle off and it could still be fully functional with just the body and a lens Which is pretty cool number four recording options, so there are a lot of recording options on this But we generally stick to only a few settings We generally shoot in the XAVC L the long op setting at The UHD 4k either in 24 or in 60 frames depending on what we're shooting and that's generally where we live we it does It does shoot really good image quality for if you shoot it at 1080 Which is great news because there are a lot of times when we don't want big file sizes We don't have any interest in cropping and deliverables plan to be 1080 HD anyway So that's a nice option to have and if you shoot 1080 you get to shoot it in super 35 And you can punch in further with the clear image zoom that we'll be talking about later So lots of good options and now with the new firmware 2. So there you have it sony if you have a new firmware update coming add that Number five on the cons list is the mxf files that these record at so Mxf files are a little challenging to work with for our workflow. We are final cut pro editors So pro res is something we really value This is a camera

 We absolutely love it. We generally shoot in 4k We do shoot XAVC L. Which is the long op format. Sony FX6 One-Year Review | My experience and why we bought two!

Hi guys, I know this comparison has been discussed before, but I’m, hoping to get some advice for my particular situation.

My turn has finally come on a waiting list for an FX6 but I’m now deciding between the FX6 and the Ronin 4D to add to my arsenal (already have an A7sIII and RED Komodo).

On the one hand I feel that I have the conventional cinema camera angle covered with the Komodo but on the other hand I felt that the FX6 is a bit more versatile for Run and Gun work due to the AF and Internal NDs, and would pair nicely with the A7sIII for Interview and Podcast shoots.

The Ronin 4D on the other hand offers a unique tool in terms of stabilisation and gimbal work, but I feel that some of the results online look a little ‘overproduced’ if you know what I mean.  I’m also a little dubious about the Rolling Shutter speed on the Ronin 4D which performs pretty abysmally compared to the FX6.  (The reason I went for a Komodo over the FX6 initially was the Global Shutter).

They’re both in a similar price bracket.  Is there a recommendation or another perspective anyone can offer?

The best camera I've ever used.

 And oh man, this is looking pretty good. We got Sam over there and I'm just using the zoom rocker right here. And to be honest, my biggest draw from wanting to use this over this A7S is right here. That variable electronic ND, this thing is magical

Ronin 4d vs Sony fx6. Which would you pick and why?

 We're still running the V-lock adapter at the back, haven't had any issues. This is the Tilta one, it's really clean, really nice looking and we're still running the Sennheiser mic system and I really want to just switch back to the Rode because it's smaller, it's lightweight, this is just clunky and it gets in the way so we're going to see how we can kind of implement that in the future. But that's not what this video is about. This video is about how this camera functions on a personal level, how it is to use, how the images are, how the workflow goes, the file sizes, all that kind of thing and that's why I love this camera

 So it is a very versatile camera, like I said you can strip this down or you can rig it out. So it can be quite small and compact and it can be a big beast. Now one of the main reasons why I absolutely love this camera is the image quality that comes out of it. So from the start we've always used the Sony CFexpress type A cards and I think this is a big deal breaker when you use these

Sony FX6 12 Month Review | BEST Camera 2022

**Background:**

I have to give credit to my FS700 for hanging in there, it's been a solid camera for everything I've thrown at it for almost a decade, certainly the 4k RAW output to the the Odyssey 7Q extended it's life even further. The FS700 really carried it's own with flexibility of build-in ND, slowmo up to 240fps @ 2k, etc. but it's finally time I look into moving on.

**Considerations:**

* **Content:** mostly narrative/product work, sometimes talking heads, but very little run-n-gun etc. I'm an owner/operator and will occasionally rent in when required. Like having solid in-house kit for meeting needs most of the time, personal projects / experimenting with ideas etc.
* **Workflow:** generally ProRes for codec, (RAW is nice though not necessarily required), mostly working in Davinci Resolve &amp; Adobe Premiere
* **Ergonomics:** Using emotimo ST4, DJI Ronin (1st Gen), and other creative rigging so have certainly leaned towards the 'modern' box-style bodies. Certainly curiosity to the mid-size fpv drones that I've seen flying komodo's etc.
* **Audio:** Direct XLR preferable (or capable via adapters), studio-style I'm always running separate systems but convenient to feed a mix to the camera, preference for easy mic-in when out and about for a simple boom mic etc.
* **Lenses:** own a set of Sony CineAlta S35 PL lenses, so PL &amp; S35 compatibility is certainly a factor as well.

Cine lenses with Sony FX6

 It also has a V-mount battery plate that comes with it that I'm actually using the FX lion batteries instead of the newer ones I was using before. Now my audio sources are still going to be the Sennheiser MK416 and the Sennheiser G4 lavalier mic. Sennheiser I just find has really great audio and nowadays I'm focused on trying to get the best audio I can when I'm actually filming instead of having to make those adjustments in post, mostly because I'm not good at sound editing and you may find that somewhere in this channel later on in other videos. Now in terms of monitoring, I actually did make some form of a graduation
