 And why this is awesome is because with this soundbar you can hear Dolby Atmos quality which is amazing. So you don't need a new fancy 4K TV with all the settings and all the bells and whistles to get that sound quality because as long as you're streaming something with the Dolby Atmos audio like a 4K film or music for example, you're going to get that audio quality just with the plug in it in. Hand gestures. Could have been bad

 You either do or you don't have a soundbar or you have this whole massive setup where you have speakers all around the room with six different points of audio and a subwoofer or something like that. I am clearly no audiophile, but I do really appreciate amazing sounding audio and that's why I lent to Sony. I have been a big fan of their music and sound quality for years, especially in their headphones. That's where I know it best

 For example it's got like standard, cinema and music which does make a difference and you've also got your volume and all that on here but I don't use this much apart from like turning on or turning off the soundbar or changing the inputs because once you have it paired up with your TV the soundbar at least for me is working with my regular remote so I just increase and decrease the volume on this one and I'm good to go. The soundbar also has similar controls to the remote and their touch controls which are really nice and clean so no physical buttons and well with the subwoofer it's just set and forget. So all in all this is a pretty awesome soundbar I'm not going to lie I really really like it and if you're like me and you just want to get that extra awesome audio quality and you want to fill the room better with amazing sound this is that no fuss setup. It is a little costly at $600 but I'd say for a set and forget kind of system that is really impressive and slim and easy it's sweet so I would recommend it

 It's always got really good nuances and depth and it feels like it's a high quality experience. So I was excited to bring that into my living room. Okay, so I'm not an audiophile, but I am a bit of a tech head, so I'm not completely clueless about soundbars and what's out there on the market. But why did I choose this soundbar to be my first ever soundbar? Okay, firstly, it's the no fuss setup

The only sounbar that works and connects to everything is the Sony HT-G700. Want to upgrade to a 5.1 or better system but having issues all the time with new sounbar systems.

.. I don't know if this is a good workaround personally, even if OPTICAL gives better audio you're not getting the features you paid for. I have the newest firmware but it didn't fix it and if you google audio cutout or no audio and soundbar, the issue is still out there and hasn't been resolved for many

 I have to reboot the soundbar to get sound back. Now my work around that I was recommended by one of the Amazon customer service is to use Optical Link. This solution worked for a couple of weeks but that's not the case anymore. If you have a Sony TV x90h or whatever similar, in the Audio out setting change from Auto/Hdmi to PCM/Digital (something like that) and you keep all the primary function of using the HDMI (start up with TV, volume control via tv remote) BUT you lose Dolby Digital Plus (and ATMOS)

 I don't know if this is a good workaround personally, even if OPTICAL gives better audio you're not getting the features you paid for. I have the newest firmware but it didn't fix it and if you google audio cutout or no audio and soundbar, the issue is still out there and hasn't been resolved for many.  It's hard to decide whether or not to send it back and get something different (JBL soundbar is what I'd consider instead) I'd research into how compatible it is with your TV (even if it's a Sony) before buying it. Sound wise, it's pretty epic when you crank it up (not so much when you're trying to watch something late at night and the volume is quiet, can't hear dialog) and Spotify, wow, sounds totally different on this

 Now my main issue is this soundbar doesn't play nice outputting sound via EARC/HDMI. My issues with sound occur via TV streaming apps and also with my PS4. I have to reboot the soundbar to get sound back. Now my work around that I was recommended by one of the Amazon customer service is to use Optical Link

 It'S actually decent in terms of sound. But when it comes to the fundamental basis of dolby atmos dtsx, which is two things that they're really shouting about and furthermore sound stage which really comes hand in hand with those two type of metadatas and sound processing, that was not the case. With this sony soundbar - and i can truly urge you to look at the different alternatives that i've posted down in description below samsung jbl sharp, even all us offer better sound, and neither of them are all perfect, but they all are better in every single way than This sony soundbar in terms of sound, that is so that is my honest, unbiased, unpaid review, i'm not paid by any manufacturer before someone thinks about it and i'm not endorsed by sony to do this review i mean who would endorse this negative review about it, but Anyway, my point is that you should avoid this soundbar look elsewhere and if you want suggestions, then the ones in the description below would be my honest, personal picks if i were to buy a soundbar at this price range. So hopefully you enjoyed this review

 What i like that sony have done over here, they've done a metal grill all the way at the front of the soundbar, whilst at the top there is some sort of material which is somewhat reminiscent of some of their headphones. Now, at the top over here, you've got touch sensitive buttons and i'm truthfully not a fan of them. I would have preferred physical buttons, but your mileage may vary. You might prefer them now

 I really didn't want to come with this review being super negative, because it does a lot of good in terms of its design. I have the Sony HT-G700 and an X900H and it's been working well. I have an older Vizio sound bar with an older Sony TV and it gave me enough trouble that I didn't want to use different brands again.

I got the Sony HT-Z9F when I got my X900H and it's pretty awesome. I had a smaller Samsung soundbar before and especially with the rear speakers, the Z9F were an amazing upgrade. 

If you get it make sure you also grab the wireless rear speakers when they go on sale.

My Sonos Beam hasn't given me any problems at all with this TV, and it come with a HDMI to Optical adaptor so you can keep the xbox in HDMI 3 if you want. Beam isn't atmos though.

Got a Klipsch Cinema 600 to go with mine. Sounds amazing and works perfectly. Huge 10" sub with awesome bass, and is the bar is upgradable to 5.1 surround with wireless bluetooth satellites if need be.

Best brand Soundbar for compatibility with a X900h

I bought this knowing the Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are fake and simulated and not real. Why? Because you can’t beat a Dolby Atmos soundbar for $398. And my TV is sony so wanted a pair. And the advertised 7

  If you have a big room or want a real one, get $1300 Sony 7.1.2 Atmos Sound Bar or $1500 Yamaha 7.1

 the HDMI that came with the bar couldn’t carry Dolby Vision or ARC, I had to use my spare high quality HDMI cable, I suggest you do the same to unleash full potential. - This soundbar can decode dolby atmos and dts:x and simulate the vertical audio through front 3 speakers. This sound bar doesn’t have upward firing speakers like other sound bars.Which is what are needed for real Atmos effect but Sony claimed it can do it with software magic but let’s just say solid smart marketing haha - It can still decode those formats and try to mimic Atmos and you get Sony! - Overall it’s a decent sound bar with fake belief that you have Dolby Atmos soundbar and 7

All you need to know: Fake Dolby Atmos but can’t beat the price.

 But again, these particular features are only going to come into play if your tv has an er hdmi port. Also, don't worry if it doesn't, though, you will still be able to use the htg 700 with a standard audio return channel 2, which most newer tvs do have. The htg 700 also has several preset modes for different styles of content. There'S auto sound, which automatically selects the correct mode based on what you're watching standard, mainly for use with regular tv programming, then there's cinema for use with movies and music

 It allows for higher quality audio to be sent between compatible devices. So if your tv has an e-arc, it can send higher quality audio like dolby, atmos and dtsx back to the sound bar. The other big advantage is having auto lip sync correction. This prevents any gaps between kind of, what's happening on the screen and what's coming out of the speaker, and it doesn't require any extra adjustments on your part

 This adds virtual height to your audio, without needing to install any extra speakers now. Here'S an example of what the 700 sounds like on cinema mode, with a movie playing [ Applause, ] um, as you can hopefully hear, dialogue comes through really clearly with this having a dedicated center channel and overall, sound is definitely going to be an upgrade from your Tv speakers, while this doesn't have tons of bells and whistles it does offer a few really useful options like that: immersive ae bluetooth and an enhanced audio return channel. So, if you're in the market for a soundbar that handles dialogue really well and can provide some overhead effects without needing to go the extra mile and install extra speakers, this is one you're going to want to take a look at. Sony HT-G700 Soundbar Overview

1 cable. Soundbar is plugged in to HDMI 3 (also set as enhanced but DV, also with HDMI 2.1 cable). Basically it works now

 This is as close as you can get to true Dolby Atmos because it has speakers on top of the soundbar.  And it's almost in the same price range as the htg700

  It's not a bad sound bar it's just not what I was looking for.  For TRUE ATMOS of course you'll need speakers on your ceiling firing down at you.. but I didn't want to do that
