 I can't also say that i was enveloped by it, but there is a sense of broad dimensionality that surprised me, given that there weren't upward firing speakers kudos to sony on pairing its dsp processes well with atmos, given the down mixing that had to occur to get It to work within this 2.1 speaker configuration on the plus side. This dsp processing doesn't just apply to object-based codecs like atmos and dtsx, as i found that many of the 5.1 tracks that i tested also took advantage of the spaciousness the processing provided

 I was not impressed, however, with the tonality of things like dialogue or sound delineation during more complex, sound environments that had either dialogue and music or dialogue and sound effects. I felt like the same processing job that was doing an admiral job of creating a roomy landscape was also overcompensating, the bass response in all the drivers resulting in a muddled center channel mix. This is happening because there is no dedicated center channel. Therefore, the left and right drivers are being pulled in to do double duty

I live in an apartment too and went with the HT-X8500 for my X950H. I'm very happy with it. It's enough bass for me, but not so much it annoys my neighbors.

Guys thx for helping me last time. I got a xh95 (or x95h in usa) for like 1200€ in germany and I am just in love with it. It is much much better than my old xg8096 55 inch. ( I wanted a bigger TV and 65 inch xg8096 was like 900€ so I just grabed the best tv ever :D for 1200€)

Sadly the sound is just really bad xD. There is no base. Even my old TV got better sound (I cannot really describe it). It's not really a big problem because I always use my wh-1000xm3 or DT990 to play with my ps5 but we watch movies on netflix two times a week and after seeing what Dolby vision is (just wow) I really want a better sound out of this masterpiece :D

I could try to pay max. 300-350€ for a soundbar. Not a home theater 5.1 because I live in an apartment and walls are thinner than a paper xd.

I really want a sony soundbar but I cannot buy it this month.

My options here are:

1.Sony HT-X8500 = 250€  (2.1)

2.Sony HT-G700 = 330€ (3.1)

3.Sony HT-ZF9 = 530€ (I could buy it in 2 months) (3.1)

Not gonna change this tv and the soundbar for 10 years. about blooming: there is none. I mean maybe when you watch a movie with subtitle but you can change the color to yellow and it is gone.

I work and study at the same time but money shouldn't be a problem as long ZF9 is much better than G700. I just have to wait couple of months more. (1 month for G700 vs 1 month for X8500 vs 2-3 months for ZF9)

Got my XH9505 65 inch and it is just amazing! (need a soundbar though xD) HT-G700 vs HT-X8500 vs HT-ZF9

The controller and integration with a Sony brand TV also leave a lot to be desired. I have a Sony TV, so you'd think there would be some nice integration, but there's not. For example, when you turn the volume up or down, it doesn't show the volume on the TV, only on the sound bar. The sound bar's whole interface leaves a lot to be desired

Overall, this might make a nice gift for a friend or family member (or a child) who isn't an audiophile or who has an old TV, but I'd highly, highly recommend just spending $1000 instead if you're going to buy a sound bar for yourself. It's just kinda not worth it at this price point. It does look beautiful though, I'll give it that, and when music is playing it's totally spectacular. It is overall better than my TV's built in speakers, but the occasional muddy or distorted voices bother me

It's okay, but nothing special.

 The most first is auto sound in this profile. Sony will automatically adapt the sound mode to the content that is being played in general. I found this to work quite well. In my experience, this typically would emphasize the dialogue as well as the bass

 This happens around a volume of around 65 percent and up. However, to give some perspective in my small to medium-sized room, i listen at around 30, so there's still ample headroom. If you plan to listen at high volumes and are looking for a house shaking base, i would suggest looking at a soundbar with a separate standalone subwoofer, much like the sony, ht s350, that i reviewed previously, as if you want to add a subwoofer or rear channels. This is not possible with the htx 8500 again personally, i did not feel the need for this, as this is a very strong and complete package, but is still something to consider

 For example, the high level base provides too much bass to a point where this takes away from the mid. I would have liked to see more incremental intervals to adjust the bass more finely, and this brings us to sound presets now on the remote. You will find many different sound profiles to choose from this will allow you to easily find the sound you want. As you can see, there are many, so i will focus on a few of the key ones that i found myself using

 If you have it or optical, do bear in mind to get the best sound quality through dolby, atmos and dtsx, you will need to connect using hdmi arc setup really is plug and play which is great to see before we get into the features and sound quality. I want to give you an idea of how the htx 8500 sounds with a quick live audio test. Let'S have a listen. What is it you're, trying to say we're going on the internet? Now, let's take a closer look at the features, as well as the sound quality starting off with surround sound

I would use the TV speakers all the time for TV watching and only use my old receiver with surround sound for movies and video games. When I bought the X900H, I tried the TV speakers and quickly decided to run all audio through a new soundbar, instead.

They're bad. I upgraded from a 2010 Samsung Plasma which I never had any complaints about the speakers in. I immediately noticed how tinny the audio sounded on the X900H, especially with voices. It was driving me nuts so I bought a soundbar. Well worth the investment and it sounds way better.

I’m asking because I had no problems with it, but once I got a soundbar I definitely noticed better sound quality, and listening to the tv speakers again made me think they weren’t great. But I’m curious: was I just spoiled by soundbar audio, or are the X900H 65” speakers genuinely below average? I had an older tv before this one and never had problems with sound quality, but I had also never heard a soundbar back then either. So as far as tv speakers go, how good are the ones on the X900H 65”?

 Now if you are shopping for a living room soundbar, I highly recommend a unit with a floor mounted subwoofer like the Samsung Q800B (I have it in my living room) with Samsung SWA-9500S rear speakers, making it a 7.1.4ch system. Oh and the Samsung Q-Symphony feature is

 It produces a convincingly cinematic. Sound sony claims that the hydex 8500 approximates the sound field of an atmos 7.1.2 system, which is not exactly true

 This product combines musicality and liveliness and it is compatible with both amazon, alexa and google assistant, as rival dolby, atmos compatible sound bars. Often sell for twice as much as sony's hydex 8500. It makes sense to recommend it if you're looking for a budget-friendly home theater system. This is probably your best option

 There is also an optical digital audio input for use when arc is not available. The 4k hdmi board supports dolby vision, hdr-10 and hlg. Overall, the height x8500 compact design makes it easy to use. There is no separate subwoofer to take up floor space

Sony HT X8500 Soundbar Review - Is it worth the hype?

I wanted to get a soundbar for my LG C9 OLED to improve the sound. I don't know much about soundbars, but I do have a picky ear. I figured a 2.1 bar would do

I just bought the Sony HT-X8500 (read some decent reviews and got a good deal) and hooked it up via eARC, and I think it sounds horrendous - the mids are muddled, and I liked the TV speakers better.

 For sitcoms or the news it is great. Just not the kind of sound you would expect form this price range.  The HDR10 Passthrough works great and works at 4K60 HDR. But you have to hold down the news buttons to activate this feature

  Unless you find a good HDR passthrough switch (I could not find one) then do not bother if this is the feature you are looking for.

 I would have video through HDMI and no audio at all when using the optical. My intention was to use my streaming device for the HDR passthrough and the optical for a device like a DVD player but no go.  Unless you find a good HDR passthrough switch (I could not find one) then do not bother if this is the feature you are looking for.

 At first it will only recognize 4K30 HDR until you enable to enhanced HDMI through pushing and holding the news button for roughly 5-10 seconds.  The part that really bothered me and made me return this was it is either very difficult or cannot work at all when you use the HDMI passthrough and the optical port at the same time. I tried to connect a device through optical and another device through HDMI to use at separate times. There is no way I could figure out how to switch between the two without unplugging the other

Good if all you want is HDR 10 Passthrough with Mediocre Sound

 Carbon is open and, as you can see, on the top out there, it says Dolby vision and Dolby Atmos right now, I'm on mute for a second, but it says Dolby, vision and all the Atmos, because the sound bar does support Dolby, Atmos output. Of course it's virtual surround sound as you can see, there is a button out here which says a vertical S, so it doesn't have upward firing, drivers or even sideways firing. Drivers to simulate surround sound, but it does have two drivers on the side for the subwoofers and it has this virtualization to give you the feeling of height now how that works on the sound by something we will tell you in our review, but for right now. There'S one more thing that we would actually like to show you by just stopping the playback for one second, so it would make the most of a sound bar that supports EARC on the sound bar and the television

 We will discuss this more in detail in our review, but if you connected via a RC, you can always control the volume with the remote control of your television, which is always a nice option. In fact, we have Netflix open out here and I'm quickly just going to show you one thing: it's altered.
