Now the first thing we knows about this bar is it's very light, which again with its small size, makes it easy to mount or put on just about any console and then looking under this little magnetic grill here we see there's just three drivers in the front including the center driver for good dialog and then you've got your stereo channels out to the left or right there. As we said, it's loaded with features and that starts at the back panel

This is far from my first Sony product. All my TVs are Sony, my other soundbars are Sony (home theater system is comprised of Sony Z-series receiver, and 800 DVD 4K. However, this soundbar, which I will say does sound ok, has some bugs. Sometimes it will start up and should be under HDMI 1; however, it jumps into the TV mode

We have grown used to seeing Dolby Atmos enabled sound bass with integrated up firing height speakers, but the Sony HD set of nine is different. It's a Free Point One design that relies on DSP audio processing to expand the sound field into what Sony claims is effectively five point One Point Two Now until now Atma Samples have used front firing drivers with integrated Dolby and Nailing Up virus to create an immersive audio. now. Design wise, this set of nine is clean, minimalistic, and simple

 Now there's no effort, but most Sony audio devices can be controlled via the Music Center app and so is the HD set of 9. The app is fell easy to use and allows you to both adjust the settings and select sources now. Atmos Devices are always tested first with the official Dolby Atmos task disc with well-known demos like Horizon and Leaf and you can clearly hear the added value of utmost but also the impact on the sound of objects now. I Know it's impossible to show the audio quality over YouTube but just listen to the sound bar so maybe you guys can spot the difference

 The sound bar is around a meter wide and features a removable grill with free drivers behind it. When the grill is removed, you will also see a tiny display and a blue LED which indicates if bluetooth is on or not now. This plate also gives you some information about the current mode and can display the volume as well. I Actually never thought that a sound bar with front-facing drivers and the wireless approver really delivers something like immersive and Dolby Atmos, but surprisingly it kind of does, and it does it virtually now

 Next very impressive thing was the wireless subwoofer. I Always wanted to build my own media system but to be honest, it's a lot of cable mess and also it's not really cheap so the Sap move itself goes really nice and deep and is really powerful for sure. Doesn't equalize built-in and you can manually control the Subura but to be honest, I didn't expect such a strong bass out of such a tiny box. and the best thing all you have to connect is the power and then you're ready to go

I am using Sony HT-ZF9 with the rear speakers and I am very happy with it. Shouldn't cost that much anymore and the performance is very good for the money. I've paid 1000€ two years ago and don't regret any cent.

Not Sony brand, but I swear by Sonos. I have a full house set up and they are the best sound system I've ever experienced.

Just bought Sony 950H 65”. Looking for a good Sony sound bar and sound system.

 Setup was easy and connected via ARC HDMI with no issue. Also this bar can play "loud" even with just those small speakers. In term of regular non-atmos it sounded pretty good and this bar can play "loud" with just those small speakers. With virtual effect the bar was ok since i wasn't expecting much with just 3 tiny speakers

I sold my full Bose 300 setup and hope to find something better with Atmos. Had high hope on this soundbar since it checked all the boxes for me. 1) small and slim size 2) Has option surround speakers 3) Atmos that does not require sound to bounce around. Right off the bat i loved the look of this soundbar, very slim and fitted perfectly under my OLED TV

nice size but virtual sound is not there yet.

 So for me, for example, in my front room where I don't have a smart TV you can actually throw music on the sound bar so it basically turns your TV into a kind of Smart TV which is a good feature for people like me with stupid TVs Another awesome feature is the fact that this sound bar support cell DAC ah which is high res audio streaming over Bluetooth and this is done using a compression method which is Sony's very own and it can only be used with other Sony LDAP devices. So if you have a bunch of these one in each room or different kinds of LDAP devices around your house, you basically kind of got that Sonos multi room setup but with higher quality audio. and the last awesome feature that I'm gonna mention here and I think it's worth mentioning actually comes at a price and it's the rear Sony speakers. The SA Z9r Wireless rear speakers

 If it doesn't then it's just to be be in it. So that's the new format for what gear going forward and you can expect the same format in all of my reviews. So the design on this thing Sony You've gone for quite a minimalistic, clean design here. The bar is slightly wider than what I'm used to around 1 meter wider

 It's a remote, so let's have a look at the ports on the back of speaker. You've got two Hdmi ins one HDMI out with AR C which is the audio return channel which I mentioned earlier as well as it analog in if you're old-school like that, and an optical in as well which you might need if you don't have an AR C channel. You've also got a USB input here so you can put your high res audio files onto that, plug it straight into the sound bar if you want, and then you've got Al an input so you can connect this to your local network. and the Zf9 does support Wi-Fi as well and I'll speak a bit more about the functionality there in the awesome features section and that actually brings me on to the awesome feature section which I'm about started right now number four

Sony HTZ9F Soundbar Review - Should you buy it?

3 days ago I bought HT-ZF9. At first I met a few problems with a sound, especially with dialogues in games and movies. Thanks to Reddit and Google research i set it up and now voices are great, I don’t have rear speakers so for me Sony is the way to go.

Looking at upgrading my TV and with it sound. I remember looking at Sony's HT ZF9 years ago but at the time was too expensive. Now I can get both the soundbar and wireless rear speakers for about 800€ the same as JBL 9.1. 

Is a 3 year old soundbar still worth that over the newer one?  I live in an apartment so I'm not really a fan of JBL's downward firing sub, but can't really find any worthy solutions, that also include rear speakers, for my budget.

Any input is much appreciated.

 I had one instance of the rear surrounds and sub disconnecting from the soundbar. If you experience this, ensure your 5 GHz Wi-Fi is not interfering with the soundbar and its connected sub and satellites. I was able to remedy my issue by setting my Wi-Fi network to a specific channel to operate on.  If you are using some older sources like I am, you will need to do A LOT of experimenting with the processing settings on the soundbar

You can get decent sound out of it, but you will be making compromises.  I intend on keeping the soundbar and rear surrounds as I cycle in new equipment, but the next purchase will be a PS5 or a new TV that supports both HDMI 2

UPDATE x2:  It Sounds Good. Your Sources Matter, But There May Be Better ...

They have also reached me and I have tried: (I still have to receive the Sony HT-ZF9) Sony HT-X8500, LG SN7CY and Denon DHT-S416. I did not like the Sony HT-X8500 in the voices and the sound (perhaps because it does not have eARC? ), I have tried all the configurations and comparing it with the LG SN7CY which was the first to come to me it was far behind, even with the vertical sound didn't notice much difference.
