Sony UBP-X700 review: More 4K HDR Blu-ray goodness for less money

I have a Bose Smart Soundbar 300, Sony UBPX700 UHD Blu-ray player and a RCA 51inch 4K tv(not 100% on model, not smart). There are two HDMI outputs on the blu-ray player, one is audio only, the other is audio/video.

 And even then sometimes it will not power down remotely and I have to remove the power cord. Totally frustrating.

Noticeably Poorer Picture then direct from a smart Sony 4K UHD TV

I have a Samsung QN55Q6DRAFXZC TV. Im looking to buy a 4k blu ray player and found the Sony ubpx700 might be a decent option. My receiver doesn't have 4k pass-through so the dual hdmi outputs are important. 

So, question is, is there a better option, and if not, does this player work well with the Samsung One Remote?

 What is wrong with you Sony?  So, in short, a fine performing player designed by people who seem indifferent to road blocks they put in the way of a user getting the most out of the player in the easiest way. No auto-detect for Dolby Vision and no 802.11ac are just plain dumb choices for Sony to have made.

11b/g/n only. There is no 5ghz 802.11ac support. This means that streaming will be on the band most likely to suffer interference from microwave ovens and competition for channels

No auto-detect for Dolby Vision and no 802.11ac are dumb choices from Sony

  My biggest bugaboo with this player and why I won't give it 5 stars though it meets my needs at a good price is the lack of auto detect for Dolby Vision and the lack of a button to toggle on/off. You can't even do it from the submenu. You have to exit the movie and turn it on or off from there. So annoying to the point that I've separated my alphabetized movie collection by dolby vision or non-dolby vision

 Bothersome but not a deal breaker. All in all it was worth getting this X700 mainly due to price and features, easy to setup and use. I'm sure Sony will come up with a software fix to resolve my other UHD issue sometime in the near future, If I dare to do another software update. Bottom line: ya, grab one but be prepared for failed OS updates and get used to turning on the UHD Option Every Single Time and purchase a high speed HDMI cable online

 Until I made the mistake of upgrading the software. In less than 10 minutes the upgrade was done, and the new X700 was done-for, crashed! No more IR remote reception!! So I tried everything from new batteries, universal remote etc, but it was still stuck on the startup SONY screen until I pulled the plug. The remote was actually working, as verified by the front facing camera on my iPhone. But I still couldn't get past the setup initial screen for language selection

 After careful review I decided on the UPB X700 despite the several warnings about bad units. After setting up the X700 and trying the UHD movie everything seemed to be perfect. Until I made the mistake of upgrading the software. In less than 10 minutes the upgrade was done, and the new X700 was done-for, crashed! No more IR remote reception!! So I tried everything from new batteries, universal remote etc, but it was still stuck on the startup SONY screen until I pulled the plug

 The new box came 6 days later and worked like a charm without any software updates. Only minor problem was turning on the UHD feature every darn time you needed it like other reviewers had mentioned. Bothersome but not a deal breaker. All in all it was worth getting this X700 mainly due to price and features, easy to setup and use
