 Let's move this tone knob a little bit up and see what we can get. I'm gonna play a little bit I'm gonna dig in a little bit more I get a little more of like a rock sound here so I'm still still have the P at 100% and I'm about 50% here with the tone knob and you'll hear a little bit more of the grit that the bass can can kind of pull out. Right so that's sort of you know a grittier bit of a groove all right I can slap that and you'll kind of hear a little bit still it's kind of has a nice chunk to the sound alright and then let's go with the tone all the way up okay. So like I said I think the P is probably the closest to the original Fender tone that they got with this bass

Once again this bass you know if you're looking at a Fender Precision bass or a Fender Jazz bass you're probably looking minimum neighborhood $800 $900 and this bass retails about $270 so and I actually got this used for $150 and I just I'm thrilled with the purchase I think it sounds insane for what I paid for it so I'm pretty stoked on it. Alright so let's check out the the the J pickup a little bit so I'm gonna put the J pickup all the way up and I'm gonna do it in the same fashion I'm gonna roll the tone all the way off and this sound I think is a little bit docile but it kind of has a nice a nice sort of blend to it right sometimes I think chords can actually have kind of a cool blend on this tone they sound almost like one one simultaneously like they're simultaneously played as opposed to feeling like sort of a disjointed series of notes so then I'm gonna roll the tone up a little bit as I go and you'll hear what I'm saying right where it's almost there's almost less blend there that's kind of what I was looking for each note sticks out a little bit more with the tone a little more of that measly tone right I'll go back to that groove right it's a little more of that kind of Joe Dart right that sort of bulk pack feeling right that we need out and do right little straighter jazz sound um so that's kind of what you're gonna get and then I'll go with both of them up which I actually think has a really nice can be a good sort of dual use sound to this bass okay so I'll once again play a similar groove all right actually the chords sound beautiful they sing really nicely with both the both the pickups kind of charged and the tone charged up to all right so yeah that's pretty much what this bass sounds like right the Squier Affinity P this is an Olympic white like I said and honestly for what you're paying for this bass I think it's an absurd deal like I said I think it's 270 on the market and just really a really great sort of I'm thinking about even getting a backup one just because it's such an easy sort of I'm not worried about it I can bring it anywhere if it gets banged around you know and that's kind of a nice thing to have if you're out playing a lot you want to not be too worried about your instrument sometimes and this kind of affords you that luxury but you don't compromising on the tone and the sort of playability here playbillity is great neck really feels good has the C profile and yeah just a great all-around bass another home run by Fender all right thanks for being here like and subscribe hope to see you soon

 We have the P volume, J volume and tone knob. Okay right now I'm going to start with the P volume all the way up, the tone all the way off, J volume all the way off. This is the Olympic white finish on this bass and I have the laurel fingerboard. I think it also comes with a maple fingerboard if you want it with the maple and they have a couple other color variations

I'm looking to purchase my first bass guitar and i am actually poor so im limited to basses strictly under $250, it's that or nothing. I'm not really gonna do any serious playing or gigs, just practicing in my home alone, so i just want a nice comfy bass that obviously wont break, but nothing too serious. I've heard from reading some older threads that the squier affinity series seems to have poor quality, but is it really that bad? I do love the fender designs and surely it's not actual trash if you're not too much of a snob right? Other two options i'm considering are the Cort action bass plus or ibanez tmb100. Would those be better? Cort seems to not be as much famous of a brand name, so perhaps they have a better quality-price ratio?

Are Squier affinity basses really that bad?

 The precision pickups are the two right there and the jazz pickup is right below it. There is a volume control on the right there for each pickup and a master tone control lets you dial in your own tone. It features a fast-playing maple neck with 20 medium jumbo frets and an Indian laurel fingerboard and they say it has a top load bridge for classic Fender playability and tone. So let's check it out

 Okay what I thought I'd do is just run through a few riffs and change the pickups and the tone everything. I got the amp the bass mid-range and treble all turned down to zero. The volumes turned up to I guess four gains up to four. Yeah let's just see we got the precision pickup all the way up the jazz all the way off and the tone all the way off and we'll put the tone about halfway put the tone all the way up precision is still all the way up and the jazz is off all right now we'll put the precision off the jazz all the way up and the tone off same thing tone halfway and tone all the way up and we'll put the precision all the way up the jazz all the way up and the tone all the way up now put it bass mid-range and treble around two precision is all the way up jazz is off and tone is about halfway that was kind of the way I like the precision set at when I'm playing so and I would like to put it on the jazz pickup obviously turn the precision all the way off jazz is all the way up tones all the way up got the bass on middle five mid ranges on eight and triples on two so to get really jazzy the question is can Squier via Fender make an extremely affordable bass for two hundred and thirty some odd dollars that plays well sounds well has fairly decent components the answer is yes they can and they did and if you're looking for a very affordable bass check out the Squier affinity series at your local music store check it out I was surprised online there's hundreds there's thousands of favorable reviews on this bass guitar we're talking value here this is like the the Hyundai of guitars they pack a lot of stuff for very little money and I am really I have no complaints I've had it for a couple weeks now and it's sweet

Squire Affinity Precision PJ Bass Review

I am playing a Squier affinity p bass - it seems p bass is inherently more low mids/cutting tone and the low end especially so. It feels and plays fine, but I could upgrade things if that was helpful.

Great sounding pickup's. I purchased this bass as a spare and after playing it i will be using it along with my other axes. I have been playing for over 60 years and this bass sounds as good as my 1964 Pression Bass, I love the way it plays.

A few weeks ago I posted that I was having issues with the finish on my Sterling Majesty, that it was flaking off at the slightest touch. I contacted Sterling and they did nothing for me. All they said was that it was not covered by their warranty, even though I was not interested in the warranty. I love the guitar, it plays well and sounds good. The finish is just aesthetic. As long as it still plays and sounds well, I couldn't care less about how it looks (I plan on getting it professionally painted and finished pretty soon). 

I just hoped for some sort of response as to why the finish on a nearly brand new $1k guitar was flaking off. From my post a few weeks ago a lot of people were telling me that it must've been defective.

Anyway, just to show how poorly applied this finish was, I decided to scrape it all of with just a guitar pick. Here's a video I made that goes more in-depth about the whole situation, in case anyone wanted to know.

[GEAR] The finish was flaking off of my Sterling Majesty, so I scraped it all off with a pick

 It's got a nice satin finish to the back, and your Squier neckplate there. They're brand new, these retail around £200, you can get them a little bit cheaper used, they do seem to hold their money. If you look around you can get a bargain out there. I'm going to be playing with a pick and using my fingers today, so I'll be going through three different positions
