The bass looks and feels beautiful! Closer inspection you will find flaws and they will add up. I thought this would be a great instrument to have too gap my guitar and bass playing, it is neither at all. You can only get “guitairish” sounds past the 9th fret and everything above is very “bass” I played it with a pick like a guitar but ALL notes and cord are VERY muddied up for the very lose E and A, that’s the guitar part, now the bass part (it’s a bass) it was better in the bass ways but strings are so close it is kinda odd to play for me and I’ll stick to actual electric bass. (Squire 70s P bass is awesome btw) Also the neck was quite off and needed to be adjusted buy a true professional

I want to build a guitar that I can use to play both a baseline and alto line at the same time.  To do this, I want to drop the E string from E2 to E1.  Is this possible without modifying the neck of the guitar?  If so, what kind of string would I need to buy?

 Amazon will take a return, so don't be afraid to do so if your guitar isn't easily playable.

Very interesting little short-scale bass. I'm glad they reissued these, because they're impossible to find for reasonable prices on the second-hand market.  I had fun with mine, and now that Squier is putting proper, good-quality strings on them, they're definitely a lot more playable out of the box.  However, I've found that some of the guitars from this series can be hit or miss

 I bought three, and two of them had some irreparable setup issue that I couldn't fix at home. It seems like the ones with this Jazzmaster-style tremolo system are especially sketchy. Mine felt fine at first but I discovered a high fret that was preventing it from being fully playable all the way up the neck.  In short, worth a try, but make sure yours is 100% playable before you commit

Cool Bass, but Mine Needed Setup Work

Awesome classic board! I just got a 1980 BF-2 delivered today precisely to use for those classic Cure sounds. I am very excited to get home from work to play my Bass VI through it :)

NPD: Boss 1982 BF-2 and Boss DD-3T (power supply and EBS patch cables)

 I really was disappointed since so much of this instrument was extremely high quality, especially given the price. And its beautiful. I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner because they wouldn't be able to tell when the bad sound was in their fingers or when it was in the instrument and that makes learning tough.

Quality control on these Squiers are all over the place. You might get lucky, you might not.

 Nice. I gotta be honest I like the way it sounds. Pots a little scratchy down there. Volume works

 Why is it harder to play on this on this with the six strings is the difference between the string spacing. Maybe it's just the the string spacing is just makes it weirder to play the six strings make it not like a guitar and the string spacing makes it not like a bass which leads to confusion. Confusion from my fingers. That's kind of pretty

 The nut looks all right to my under-educated eyeballs. Nice. Let's see if we can do the neck and the middle together. Alright now let's do this must be the middle and the bridge

Squier Classic Vibe Bass VI Demo and Review

Bass VI might be just the thing. Six strings, tuned like a guitar but an octave down so it's actually a bass. Basslines on the lower strings, chord work and lead lines on the high strings.

For starters, I think Im closer to bass since I prefer fingerstyle and love the slaps and licks on it. But Im afraid Ill regret it later since Ive already been playing a normal guitar.

Do I need to start all over again? Playing style, chords etc.

Is there a way to choose which one I like the most?

Should I get an electric bass or an electric guitar??

 The intonation on the low E can’t be properly intimated without modifying the bridge.

I wish that Fender would get there act together on these. Unless you know how to work on guitars these are absolutely unplayable. The bridge on this has multiple issues and isn’t fixed. The bridge (not tremolo) pivots and shifts and you can’t really lock it down

 I'm going to install a mute. I have some clues and tuners to put on and I think that'll get it to a really good quality guitar but the string issue is going to be one that has to be changed. There's a string company called La Bella who make a bass 6 specific string and that's what I'm going to change to. In fact they're on their way

 The pickups sound really good. The bridge pickup is hotter than the rest which is typical of other classic vibes and vintage modified offset guitars. But on the Bass 6 it seems to be okay. I don't mind it

 On the Jaguar I really didn't like it but on this it sounds good. It has the correct knobs so I don't have to change those. All in all it is a great great guitar. The few things I wasn't overly impressed with are some of the finishing details

 I reckon if you stuck that on a Jag it would probably be fine but on this it just feels a little bit clunky and there's also something vibrating in there sometimes on some of the low notes. It's a bit of a shame but it's okay. The bridge is okay. A lot of people change these out for a wider bass 6 bridge
