I'm looking to get a new wireless gaming headset, ideally with independent game and voice chat volume. I did have a Turtle Beach Stealth 420X but it broke last night.

Wireless gaming headset suggestions

 For 110$, your expectations can’t be too crazy, if you were to buy a high end mic and high end headphones, all with with a built in high quality Bluetooth DACs with software support for listening profiles you would expect to spend 10x that amount. So it’s a solid deal, but what your buying is wireless-ness not audio quality or reliability. If I had to buy another Bluetooth headset I’d probably spend a bit more money and try a different brand, with less features, more reliability, and better ootb sound quality but that’s my personal preference.  TLDR: 3/5

 All that being said, if it is working, it will work great for, usually, an entire session (keep in mind, never had ANY issues on PS4). If your audio setup on your PC is super basic (no speakers, no alternate outputs, just running game sound and discord through these phones) then maybe this is perfect for you.  Overall: - I use these headphones all the time, but the 3/5 star rating is ultimately because I still have to keep my wired headset around for when these start to glitch out. The sound quality is rough at first but can be evened out, and I bought these headphones to try out a different sound profile then normal

 I knew they would be kind of shrill with less bass, and I don’t ultimately fault them for that but with that in mind, if you like bass heavy profiles, look elsewhere. The directionality is spot on and the mids and highs are so sharp it makes in game sound cues like footsteps or gunshots stand out like crazy. However the highs are so powerful that gunshots are so loud you have to active the sound compression algorithm on the headphones in order to keep your ears from (bleeding?) ONLY hearing explosions or gunshots. These headphones have been a joy at times and a source of frustration as well

 If I had to buy another Bluetooth headset I’d probably spend a bit more money and try a different brand, with less features, more reliability, and better ootb sound quality but that’s my personal preference.  TLDR: 3/5

Good product when it’s working correctly.

 But again, it's not tight. I don't have any pressure points. I don't know, it's not, with glasses, perfectly fine. Again, with wicked cushions or the stock cushions right there

 They go right into the drivers. Nice sports material and everything. Pleather inside, nice, soft and plush, but again, they're just a little shallow. And I know many of yous are probably sick and tired of hearin' me talk about wicked cushions, but I absolutely swear by these things

 One thing I noticed, and again, I go by my mic test as a user, right? I take it out and then I test it with you guys. I don't say, hey, how can I make this microphone sound better? What can I do to tweak it? You know, I plug in my dongle, press power or press record and then bam, we go live right there. That's how I like doing my mic test as a real user. And one thing I noticed is that we probably could have pulled the microphone out a little bit, a little bit more away from my mouth

 You got this little notch right there, tuck it in there, and then just spin it around a couple times, and then you're on. And let me tell you what, guys, the difference of these cushions. Let me get a different one out here and just show you guys. It's like night and day, right

ARE THESE WORTH AN UPGRADE?

Even when clearly out of range of my nostrils, it'll insist on communicating that I'm stuck in a wind tunnel. * Sound equalization is apparently god awful out of the box. I'm too smooth brained (smooth eared?) to even notice, but I modified it to some dude's profile after looking up "SteelSeries Arctis 7 sound equalizer settings" anyways.

But I can't. In fact, I usually don't write 3 star reviews, but in some ways, I feel like I'm being generous. I actually have two of these headsets. I personally found them so comfortable, that when I had to stop b/c of running out of power (and FYI, the 24 hour estimate is hogwash!) I wanted a second pair to put on, despite the annoyance of having to go into Windows to reset my audio every whatever

 As mentioned by others, distortion. Dropping $150 on a headset, you figure you can crank this puppy up, but nope. Particularly with voices (like watching 90% of youtube or twitch), when a person is talking, it's very easy to pick up a lot of cracking and distortion.  3

 Volume. As others have noted, at MAX setting there are times when I can barely hear what's being played, which is kind of insane. I have a Razer Synapse that performs WAY better. I just have to assume their governor in the Arctis 7 is set to "protect" the user, but in fact, it's really disappointing

I REALLY wanted to love this headset...

 Along with audio options, you'll have full control of your bi-directional, Discord certified ClearCast microphone options. We probably wouldn't say it surpassed studio quality, but the voice clarity was extremely good. It was more than enough for competitive gaming or streaming on Twitch. We even found that for regular chats and calls, our voices sounded natural

 The pinpointing of in-game directional noises was impressive. From big bangs to even quieter sounds, everything was quite detailed. Each footstep and enemy gunfire in Fortnite was pretty easy to place. There were positional cues, which made for some monumental immersive gameplay

Coming from Sony WH-CH710N and SteelSeries Arctis 7 wireless, I could not believe how much I was missing! I can now hear differently layers of sounds . Every song is a new experience. The build quality of both the arias and tygr is insane.

 I've used this headset on Windows, macOS, and Xubuntu.  I am far from an audiophile, but I will say that music / videos generally sound really good from these headphones. That being said, the noise cancellation doesn't hold a candle to my Bose QC35s; however, it does the job of cutting down on nearby distractions.  The microphone does it's job

It's not a studio microphone, so don't expect much out of it for recording high quality audio. I have had issues with it being overly sensitive in some applications by default, but I believe this can largely be addressed in the Steelseries software
