 The fabric is a rip stop fabric so it is pretty strong and pretty tough but these parts here are strengthened fabric even stronger fabric more durable durable fabric. So if you're you know bashing your arms against rocks or catching them or you're walking through rough ground and stuff like that there's a there's a greater durability of greater strength and toughness on the arms of this jacket. So what makes the North Face Ventrix jacket unique? It is the ventilation system and under the arms here and on the inside of the back there are small holes micro pores which aid in ventilation. Now the theory or the practice is that these are areas where there's particular build-up of body heat so it helps vent that body heat away from the the jacket so it keeps you warm but the heat that is generated and moisture that is generated by hard work is able to vent away so it helps bring that balance of warmth but not overheating not getting too sweaty

 It is insulated with North Face's Ventrix stretch synthetic insulation and then the outer fabric and the inner fabric as well is a 92% polyester and 8% elastin. So there is a degree of stretchiness in the jacket and as you can see it offers a good freedom of movement. It is very soft to wear. Yeah it just feels very soft and it feels incredibly light

Warmer than expected, but concerns over durability

 It's a synthetic insulation jacket that actually has perforations under the arms and a few in the back of the jacket that'll just activate and open up as you're a little more active. So if you're out there skiing or hiking or dealing with a couple of psycho dogs like I am today, it'll just keep you a little more cool. But the great part about this technology is that as soon as you stop moving, those perforations close back up and maintain that heat. So essentially it keeps you warm when you need it to and then it lets that heat escape when you're out there and you're getting pretty active generating your own heat

I bought this jacket a month ago and it looks great. This will be a good choice for hiking on the mountains. The fit however is on the smaller side.

Great jacket but a tight fit

I purchased this to be my insulating layer for ski travel; I'll wear it for flying and off the hill as an outer piece and then layer under a weatherproof shell in the mountains. It breathes very well, to the extent that I was able to use it for runs and bootpacking in extremely cold temps (< 15F). The soft fabric makes it a great layering piece as it feels great on skin, especially around the face when the collar is zipped all the way up, and also isn't overly bulky or catchy when paired with various other pieces. The hood could be used inside and outside of helmets

Got this as a gift. I usually wear size medium (my Arcteryx jacket is a medium) in NorthFace fleece jackets but for some reason, the Ventrix ran a little small. Exchanging was a breeze. Took it in store and they didn't have the color or size but was able to order it for me and ship to my home for free

Fiery Red is a Great Color

  Fit is a bit odd in the torso as the jacket bulges out a bit. Zipper strings feel like they will fall off.

 This hoodie is incredibly breathable, lightweight, and comfortable while still having some good warmth, so it can be worn in many different situations: in a more casual office setting or anywhere semi-casual with too much A/C, on a run or workout in a cold environment, or outdoors. As someone who lives in a warmer climate, this jacket performs best walking outdoors in the low 50s. However, I still wear it into the low 40s and am warm enough. It does have some water and wind-resistant properties, although they wouldn't be the strong points of this hoodie

I really like the style and material of the hoodie which are very different from what you will usually see, making it stand out. The only concern I really have about the hoodie is the material doesn't "feel" particularly durable
