A nice entrance grinder is a Timemore C2, which costs about 60$, depending on your location (I can buy it now from AliExpress for 45$ including delivery). If it's too much for you, then just gift a sole Aeropress with ground beans, and if your someone would like, one can buy the grinder later. In general – yeah, freshly grinded beans are significantly tastier. Upd: consider also kitchen scales, better with 0.1 accuracy.

I recently bought some coffee beans (Congo) from Costco, and it's a medium dark. I just brewed some now, at a course setting using my Timemore C2 and brewed for 13 hours at room temp. It tastes so vile, like burnt and ashy. I drank if after putting it in the fridge for a few hours.
