 The internet always works fine and having that hot spot has really spread out everywhere and as you can see the internet speeds that we can get here are pretty much the same as what we get in the house when we're right next to the main modem. Everything works really good. Now something to keep in mind with these power line adapters, now I actually tried them maybe five or six years ago in an apartment I was living in and they did not work at all. So something I did do before I purchased them, and I'm just at the power box now, I just made sure that we didn't have anything weird going on with the circuitry

 12 milliseconds ping and we're nearly getting full, pretty much full internet speed through that Wi-Fi router and the upload, pretty much maxes the upload out. Now in my opinion these sort of speeds are more than fast enough for any internet connection but I did take it one step further and we're still sort of testing and playing around with this setup but I've actually run some IP cameras. I've actually got three currently plugged in here and they've been going for about two weeks as well and they work perfectly. I have no issues with the three 1080p data channels going back to the main IP camera server or running through that power line adapter

 Now it goes from the NBN connection around the loop to stay off the floor and I'm actually running a DDWRT router which is that one there which is doing all the important security and network address translation all that sort of stuff. And from that which is its Wi-Fi is actually turned off we're going through a TP-Link AC1200 for the Wi-Fi and that actually serves the house quite well. We can get pretty much full internet speeds in the entire house from that router. However this being an older house I don't know if it's full of asbestos or something but outside the Wi-Fi is terrible

 Now something to keep in mind with these power line adapters, now I actually tried them maybe five or six years ago in an apartment I was living in and they did not work at all. Now the garage that we're in here is on a separate main circuit to what's in the house. This one is actually for the garage and that one is for the house and it seems to work fine but I do know that if you are on a different phase those power line adapters won't work and sometimes depending on how the house has been wired up the electrician may wire it so that certain circuit breakers are on a different phase just depending on what's available from the grid

 Applications that stalled because they need a network file work now. This was a 5 star review. Now, I'm wondering if they were a good purchase.  They worked great when new

 The network equipment is located there. The 1st floor is wired with cat6 throughout. A wireless access point is on the 1st floor. The outlet unit is maybe 50 feet away on the 2nd floor

TP-Link AV600 Powerline Wi-Fi Kit Setup and Review

 You should expect, when modules are near each other, a speed of about 150 mbps. The best I could get was slightly over 300 but that is when I put the modules on the same socket, about 6 inches apart! When I put one in another room, the signal was still okay but the throughput dropped dramatically. I also learned that the router speed and my internet tier level impacted performance as you would expect. If you are using a Linksys 54 mbps router or your internet tier is entry level, then "think" before your expectations disappoint you

 The best speed I was able to get from them plugged into the same outlet was ~245 Mbps. Unfortunately they are useless to me in the same outlet. Plugging them into the outlets I wanted to run them from resulted in a lowly ~32 Mbps. No better than the highly congested WiFi in my apartment complex that I'm trying to get away from

 But at only 32 Mbps I'll be returning these. 75 foot of flat network cable is cheaper and much more reliable, just a little more difficult installation since I have to try to keep it snug to the wall so the cat doesn't play with it lol.

 I know a lot of the blame is probably due to noise in the power lines or something like that, but I expected better results than what I got. If I could have achieved 200 Mbps at the locations where I wanted to plug them in, I would have been happy.   Given the results above, I tried to move the machine and homeplugs around, but it didn't really have any noticeable affect on the AV600 performance. All tests were done with all appliances/devices/lights off, all nonessential appliances removed from outlets, and essential appliances (fridge) had power line noise filters attached. Multiple different ethernet cables were used to ensure cable issues could be ruled out.  Tests were repeated the following day/night to account for any inconsistencies, but however no matter what I did, I just couldn't get speeds anywhere near the advertised rate

  Use: As I have a 100Mbit FTTH line, I first tested the WAN/Internet line speed direct from the router, using speedtest.net:  1) Roughly 68Mbit on the using ethernet on the 1st floor. 2) WiFi provided around ~44Mbit using wireless N (Apple 2012 iMac with ASUS RT-AC66U router) from the 2nd floor room. 3) The AV600 Homeplugs provided only 38Mbit when connected on the 2nd floor room's outlet

  I've used a variety of Powerline adapters and have always found TP-LINK kit to offer no-frills, great performance at (usually) a brilliant price. Having moved to a rented house recently, I needed to pick up a set of fast powerline adapters for my home network and found the AV600 Powerline adapters to be really fast.  Installation is extremely simple - take one adaptor, plug it into a power socket and attach an Ethernet cable from the base of the adaptor to a spare Ethernet port on your router. Then, go to whatever room the network device you wish to connect is located, plug in the second adaptor to the power, and attach a second Ethernet cable from the base of that adaptor to the device’s Ethernet port

 You’re pretty much done and you should see the network connection LEDs illuminate on the front of the adaptors.  They're not the prettiest, but they perform well - I tried and binned a number of competitor AV500 rated devices from D-LINK and others as they simply didn't offer the speed I was looking for to stream media from my NAS in the basement up to my big screen TV in the attic. But these adapters did the job really well. It would have been great if they included a pass-through power socket, but for the price, it's hard to argue against the design!

 The principle is simpler than the technology that delivers it, but all your really need to know is that with powerline, you can use your existing electricity cables to carry a network signal between rooms. Simply attach a special powerline between your router and a power socket, and a second between your network device (e.g. a PC or media receiver) and another power socket and boom! Instant network connection

Others said it before but I will repeat:  1- DO NOT use with a power strip. 2- Speed depends on quality of house wiring. Related to this is wiring distance between devices. The longer the distance, the greater any effects may be on speed

  The older powerline ethernet standards is 85 mb/s rated and there might be some of these available, but all manufacturers moved to the AV 200 mb/s standards. If there is an 85 device on the same network with a 200 device, they will not see each other.  So be careful on mixing brands on the same network and certainly do not mix standards.

 Related to this is wiring distance between devices. The longer the distance, the greater any effects may be on speed. Also related is your router's capabilities. For example, the Linksys router model WRT54G mean 54 mb/s so even if the house's wiring is the best there is, the router will be the limit
