So in summary, I think this is a really, really great jacket. In terms of value for money, I think it's absolutely brilliant.

All of this translates into reduced bulk for the overall jacket, which is a great feature itself. It’s a layer that’s warm, light, and durable, I’ve carried mine for 4300 miles so far and it still performs the way it did when I first bought it.

But for the money the trek 100 is a steal! I imagine the cumulus jacket will be better constructed with a nicer feel, but the trek 100 will keep you warm the same I'm sure.

I own the trek 100 and recently wore it in temps down to about the high 30s with nothing underneath. With a fleece it was extremely warm. It was also surprisingly waterproof when I got caught in a surprise hail storm. I think with a fleece you’d be fine down into the 20s without issue.

* I have a Trek 100 from Decathlon, which is about 87g/3.1oz of 800fp for a total weight of 290g/10.2oz. I want this jacket to be pretty distinct from that for the colder months. * I am a woman and I typically run cold. Additionally, I like to get up on clear nights for astrophotography just to torture myself getting out of my warm quilt.
