It definitely rolls over rocks and roots easier than my Cali did. If you're looking for an all-around hardtail, I 100 would recommend a truck Rosco!

That said, overall, the Trek is a fun bike to ride. There's no doubt about that.

Even with a drivetrain upgrade, a bike such as the Trek Roscoe 7 still has better specs, (dropper post, 140m travel, 1x12 drivetrain, wider tires). With all factors considered, selling my current bike and buying a better one seems like the better option over upgrading my current one.

If your budget is $1700~ check out the trek roscoe 7 (not the 6). Decent air fork, modern geo, 1x12, dropper, through axles, tubeless, and tons of trek stores everywhere so you can size it out right and ride it around a little.

Neither of these bikes are what I would consider modern when it comes to the geometry, but the Roscoe 7 has a modern, updated frame that i've heard nothing but good things about. I know it costs a bit extra, but I think it's a better overall value and the most important part of the bike is the frame.
