 Welcome back everyone, Brett Candidate here, Juice Feaster on all the social media platforms, and I'm on a mission to cleanse, regenerate, and transform one million people with the magical powers of juicing. In today's video we are going to unbox and review the Tribest Shine Juicer. I get asked so many questions, Juice Feaster, what is the best juicer for me to start out with, and so I'm always on the lookout for juicers that would be great to start out with. There are five things that I typically look for when I'm looking for a juicer that's great for people who are new to start out with juicing

 You know, there are a lot of juicers that are way more than that. Some juicers even get up into the thousands of dollars, and so for someone starting out who's just not really sure if juicing is for them, I like for it to be relatively inexpensive. And number five, I like for it to be a slow cold press vertical juicer that optimizes nutrition and yield of juice from the produce that you're that you're juicing, and I like for it to be able to retain a lot of nutrition, and that's exactly what a cold press juicer does. And when we look at the Shine, it hits all of those all those buckets

 Another thing that I like about the motor, it's a high-powered motor in a small package. We don't have very much pulp here, which is pretty cool, and it looks to be a pretty dry pulp, so a good sign there that the Shine was really great at extracting the juice and not leaving really a lot of pulp, and it's fairly dry pulp, so that's a good sign. Here we have about half a liter, I would say, in juice and a really good green, dark green color, which is what we're looking for. That dark green color means we're extracting a lot of nutrition out of the produce, and in this case the celery, and that nutrition which we're after also will translate to flavor

 You don't get that fast spinning blade, which kind of extracts the bitterness from the celery, so another big advantage of the slow cold pressed juicer. So all in all there, I think really good performance from the Tribest Shine, and it's a juicer that, based on being inexpensive, easy to operate, easy to clean, the ability to make quick one to three liters of juice, I think those all stack up on top of being a cold pressed slow masticating juicer. Those all stack up to make this one of the best options that you can get or that you can have for a first time juicer. Shine Juicer Unboxing and Review - Best Low Cost ...

 I do know that my old Omega centrifugal juicer can't do this job at all - it prefers carrots.  So anyway, I got 6 cups of juice from those 3 pounds of marionberries, including a quarter-cup from running the seeds-pulp through again. It went very quickly, much faster than putting them thru a blender to get puree, and then hand-straining the puree thru a fine sieve to get the seeds out - which wastes a lot of juice and is a pain in the butt, literally - usually takes me a good 30-45 minutes that seems much longer. This went in about 15 minutes, no straining (again, literally), and I got about 25% more juice than doing it by blender and hand

I'm very aware that about 15% of the reviews of this are 1-star, which gives me pause, especially when people say things like "it worked for a day/week/month and then stopped" or it cracked and blew apart, or leaked all over everything. I chose Tribest because from what I've read it's one of the better juice manufacturers, but this is their cheapest model, entry-level I guess. I can't justify spending huge amounts of money just to juice marionberries, which aren't even available for at least half the year anyway

I can see though that using a juicer for this has its downside - disassembling everything, washing it, trying to dry it, re-assembling. (Though I didn't have problems cleaning the metal strainer - just used the faucet sprayer, but then it was only blackberry seeds, not fibers of whatever

 The clear plastic parts in particular look like the kind that could get etched badly.  The disassembly, washing and reassembly almost seems more trouble than it's worth, especially with marionberry juice getting all over the counter and sink and everything I touch in the process. Cleanup from the blender-strainer routine is much faster and simpler and cleaner - though our kitchen does have marionberry stains in the most unexpected places, this juice stains like crazy. Very rich dark purple

Let's get right to the important stuff: this machine, if properly assembled, will make a decent cup of juice with an acceptable amount of waste. In around 5 minutes, including chopping time, I was able to turn 2 medium sized beets, 3 medium carrots, and two large apples into about 14 ounces of juice. The juice had about 1/2 teaspoon of soft pulp in it, which I actually kind of liked. The pulp that was discarded was quite dry

 My advice: if you already know you love juicing, and you're sure you want to commit to it, skip right to buying one of the high-end expensive units.

Was great with apples and carrots but the next day I tried celery and spinach And had to clean out the basket twice even though I cut the vegetables up small enough and followed all the directions. The hole that lets the pulp out of the sieve is very small so gets clogged up and the pulp backs up into the basket. I wanted some thing that I could make my juice fresh every morning but I couldn’t even imagine having to deal with this every day! Item was returned after three days of trying.

Lot of work for a glass of juice!

I did not get a brush in my box to clean the screen. Has made clean up more difficult. Trying to find a customer service representative to send me one. For now

 My one complaint is that I find it challenging to clean the screen filter. It takes a lot of work to get the tiny holes completely cleaned. I suspect it's the pulp from limes that I used with almost every juice I made. I even tried using a different kitchen brush, which helped, but it's still takes me a lot of time- maybe 5 minutes on the screen alone

I do recommend it, especially for a casual juicer or someone with more patience to clean it or maybe it cleans better in a dishwasher- which I don't have
