I have two seasons on these bindings. My ski destinations involve travel both in North America and Europe. As such, I needed a set up that would work well at the resort while also allowing me to do side hill and single day touring. Hauling two setups everywhere was just not practical

 When it's time to unlock the heal it is a simple flick of the pole. Actively using the 4 heal settings greatly increases the up-hill efficiency. You do pay a bit ofa weight penalty but I have compensated for this by ski choice. Bottom line is, you can optimize your setup for a single purpose but if you only want to carry one setup through they airport and onto a bus to Chamonix you are sacrificing very little in performance

Great Travel Setup

I would buy this product again (they take a little tweaking)

I've been using the Shift since it came out in 2018 and I love it. It is heavier and a little more complicated to use than a classic touring setup, but the power and accuracy that it offers in downhill mode is what keeps me on it. I have heard that people have difficulty clearing snow from the binding in transition and I have seen the binding adjusted incorrectly, causing release issues. Personally, these problems have been completely insignificant when compared to the advantages of being able to charge downhill in a DIN rated binding in the backcountry

. i haven't found them to work well, especially in fresh snow. I have had my ski fly down the mountain more than once. In addition they do occasionally in gage when touring up if you bump your skis together :( next year if the brakes work a little better and stay up when touring

I have had these for a full season and have used them everyday both touring and skiing snowbird here in Utah. These are hands down my favorite binding! I am a big mountain skier and have found these to be very trustworthy and secure when dropping big cliffs and skiing at high speed. My one complaint is the brakes.

binding is exceptional and as an alpine bidding is strong and dependable, in the back woods the hiking aspects of the binding are straight forward and work well, in the steeps and flat long terrain skins. one item is for review is the lock out for the brake system to keep it up, it has to be very clean under the mechanism to ensure the lock stays locked, in cold fresh snow it is tricky some times and maybe the lock can be enhanced to lock more precisely so it does not unlock by accident. I bought my first pair of Shifts for the 18/19 season. I have skied these everywhere from resort to Alaska back country. I have been extremely impressed with their performance on the up and downhill. They are an excellent compromise for the back country

Only adjustment I would make for future iterations would be adding an additional climber setting, and if you could find a way to bring the price down I am sure no one would be upset

I have these bindings on two different pairs of skis and both have been really solid for me. I've toured both and didn't have any issues with early brake releases or issues with transitioning from skin to ski mode. I'm a novice skier, beginner tourer so my touring has been all low angle if that makes any difference. What I've liked about these bindings is that I have the downhill stability and confidence for touring
