Hi all! I'm 5'6 1/2  148 lbs intermediate to low advance skier on the west coast (ski mammoth, Jackson, park city etc) looking to purchase skis. Comfortable on any blue and easier blacks and getting better at edge to edge skiing. Looking for something that's stable at 30-40mph but will also give me the ability to work on carving. 

I tried the Nordica enforcer 94 at 172 cm which felt great but was worried they might be a tad long although loved the stability. Would 165 be too short? Want something I can get better on that's stable on groomers on piste.

Any other recs for skis or bindings would be appreciated!

Ski length and model recs

I just recently ordered a pair of Nordica Enforcer 104 Free skis in the 191cm length. I weigh between 240-250lbs, 6' 5"ish and am an advanced-expert skier. I ski most things, on/off piste, park, etc, basically everything except for touring.

I currently have a pair of Marker Griffin binding which I have been using for a few years on my Line Chronic skis (used to ski park but realized that when I fall it actually hurts now so I switched to more all mountain playful/flowy things). I am looking at either keeping the Griffin bindings or upgrading to Salomon STH2 WTR16 bindings. I don't know for sure whether my current Griffins will fit though due to the brake width. Do you think that the Griffins would work or would the upgrade to the Salomon bindings or another suggested binding be worth it? Also, what brake width would be recommended. I've read that some people are able to get away with 100mm brakes but others are not.

Nordica Enforcer 104 Free Bindings

I’m looking at setting up a new pair of skis and I’m curious about bindings? Do different alpine bindings really make a difference? I know I need an appropriate width and DIN range, but short of that, what’s the difference? Should I be just going with the cheapest? Or do you guys have suggestions?

Alpine bindings, what difference does it really make?

You could probably get away with reusing the bindings but if you did want to update (especially if you're getting new boots) your mentions of Attacks and Pivots are the two I'd stick with. Both excellent bindings, much prefer them to the Salomon and Marker alternatives. Easy to step in, great performance. For that ski I'd go Attack 14 GW simply because a 110 brake is a better option than the 115 or 95 available with a Pivot

I used to be deeply involved in the ski/snowboard industry in 2008 - 2012, but a move took me out of the scene since. In those days I split time between boarding and skiing, mostly in the park with some groomer/tree laps in the morning or afternoon. I'd love some help and advice!

I've been eyeing the 2021 Season Nexus 177 ($475) for a one ski quiver.

What are your thoughts on this ski, and/or your suggestions for a binding to pair with it (keep the PX12 or buy Attacks, Pivots, etc)?

Is it possible to just buy the track for these demo bindings? Marker griffon demo

I’m finally graduating from rental skis this season. I’m looking for opinions on best bindings for a pair of Atomic Bent 100s that are 188cm long. I‘m 100% resort and ski a little bit of everything. I spend 50% of the time skiing bumps or trees in either CO or UT. 

Not sure how different non-rental bindings will feel on the snow. I’ve researched a bunch and was leaning towards a pair of Look Pivots but I’m not 100% they are the best option as I’m not really skiing backwards, hitting the park, or hucking cliffs. 

6ft, 250lbs, BSL 315mm, Type 3 skier

DIN per the chart is 8.5, however, I usually have the rental shops bump it to 10 or 10.5. At my size and in soft snow I’ve had too many instances of literally stepping out of my ski. It’s led to too many single ski adventures.  


Any recommendations? I’d really be interested in your reasoning!
