 I'll update again in 3 months, after it's been given time to become buggy.  My camera had three distinct issues: 1. It would reset itself to factory defaults 2. It sporadically record videos in a 1 min 21 sec loop

  About 5 weeks later, same thing happened again. Wash, rinse, repeat (reenter the settings). This time I suspected something was up with it, but brushed it off again.  A couple of weeks after that, the camera had a glitch where it would record exactly 1 min 21 sec then loop again - turning the screen on each time it looped

  I'm removing this camera from my car, tossing it in the trash, and buying something better this time.

  Well, that video isn't good enough for them and I'm done with going back and forth with them on this. Considering these issues arise about once a month, it's become a lengthy process in getting to this point. (UPDATED 04/12/22)  Don't bother with this buggy camera.

I've had the dash camera for 3 months, the camera quality seemed up to par and the set up was simple. I only used the front dash camera, as I have a Bronco and no good spot for the rear mount. I'd have given it 5 stars if it didn't decide to stop powering on the other morning. No power from the hardwired power in the truck, no power from the USB block, no power from the computer

Worked great for 3 months, then broke.

 It loses the recordings. Pic quality was pretty good though, but for the money, time to look elsewhere. It's a shame, I took a lot of care to mount this thing.  Update after 7 months: most of the shutdown issues improved with changing from a 256gb Samsung to 32gb

Takes great video, but...

 I like having the ability to use high capacity sd cards (most dash cams cannot use 256 gb cards). And so far they have held up well (the T2 for over 2 years and from Washington to Arizona).  EDIT: the actual video I uploaded to this review is much better than what is shown online as far as clarity and resolution. Amazon, like other sites, probably compresses the file which drastically lowers the quality

 Granted, I’m in my 50’s with bifocals, so you may not have trouble with that. Depends on your windshield angle, too.  Overall, I prefer the S1 to the T2 because of the size, mounting and features. Both are high quality cameras and get good reviews in other publications

S1 versus the T2 - similar but different

  My perfect dash cam would be a 3 channel cam - Front, inside and rear cam with built in Wi-Fi, Cloud Support, buffered parking mode, LTE connection for notifications. Come on Vantrue - Make it happen!  Pros: Very good image quality from the Sony IMX 327 Sensor Super Capacitor battery - perfect for extremely high and low temps Build quality is excellent Very wide angle 170 deg lens Built in GPS Parking mode - you have to purchase the optional hard wire Built in 2" LCD is very informative Takes 256 GB MicroSd cards The downloadable S1 viewer is pretty neat with integrated maps Very good support from Vantrue  Cons: The inputs from the front and rear connections are too close/cramp making the removal of the dash cam very difficult whenever I need to download footage Rear cam angled connection is awkward - making the install difficult No Wi-Fi connection - trade off with the 2" LCD screen No Cloud connection Rear dash cam wires are a bit too thick making the install a bit tricky to hide

 Talk about awesome customer support! The only gripe I have with the S1 is that it does not have built in Wi-Fi for its price. Vantrue is competing with the VioFo A129 and Vava Dual Dash - both offer the same specs but with built in Wi-Fi for the same price.  Overall, the S1 is a valiant effort from Vantrue for its first 2 channel dash cam. With a few tweaks (1080P 60FPS front and rear) and add on features - this is a solid buy! The S1 actually produces a significantly better video quality than my returned $350 Owl Dash Cam

I've been testing the first dual channel dash cam from Vantrue S1 for about one month now and I must say its pretty decent! The image quality is excellent with the Sony IMX 327 sensor, the night quality is ok - weakness for all dash cam even for the higher tier cams from BlackVue and Thinkware. The install was pretty straightforward, except I do not like how Vantrue engineered the front and rear inputs on top of each other. It makes it very difficult to mount and dismount the dash cam whenever I need to download cam footage.  I ran into a software glitch where the dash cam would display KPH instead of MPH on the overlay - I informed Vantrue through FB and they resolved the issue within 2 days

 But at the end of the day the company did honor their warranty commitment and went above and beyond sending me my SD card which I accidently included when I sent back the unit. They made things right which was most important I think as a customer.  They refused to send me a replacement until o sent them my camera. As I mentioned this was frustrating because I bought it for security purposes

 I spent decent money on it and had paid for the recommended wire and card bought from them directly so I had it professionally installed so wires would be hidden all way to rear of vehicle.  Overall quality and picture was ok and worked as advertise. It was a little tricky to operate the different functions so I had to read through the manual to figure it all out. It was not always clear if recording but at least I could look to see the red light was blinking to confirm it was recording

  Overall the troubleshooting portion was time consuming waiting on pieces without an operational camera and the wait on parts was also discouraging. I would say this would be an area of improvement.
