 They're recommending you can put your alpine binding or an alpine touring binding like the kingpin on here. Really just opens up a whole nother aspect of skiing when you're able to use these as that true 50-50 ski both in and out of the resort. But again, 94 underfoot, very lightweight ski, but ski is pretty strong. Really looking to maximize that versatility

 It does go edge to edge over the sidewall. So when you do put energy into the ski and the binding, it's going to hook up and it's going to take some of that vibration away as well. Also keeping these things stable are these tips and tails. They got some energy absorbing rubber like material in there

I tested these skis before I bought them. They are much lighter than my 15-year skis and have a better turning capacity. I have tried them on the groomed slopes, in the moguls, and in powder and they ski great. I highly recommend them

Great Skis

 Certainly not every day is a powder ski, and 94 can handle whatever kind of the leftover soft snow is and be a little bit more agile and a little quicker. Agility and quickness is certainly a strength of this ski. It's not the softest flexing ski in the world, despite it being lightweight, so you get a good amount of kind of rebound and responsiveness out of this ski. So it has just this bouncy, fun, playful feel that I really, really enjoy

 You don't want to lose that benefit. But yeah, you don't have to put an alpine torrent binding on them to enjoy them. Certainly people can enjoy them just within the resort if you're looking for a versatile lightweight ski that won't kind of beat you up over a long day of skiing. So that's it

 It's one of the lightest kind of hybrid resort backcountry skis that you're going to find in this width range. And that's a perfect way to think about this ski, is it's a hybrid ski. You can take it into the backcountry, but you can also ski it in the resort as well. So very, very lightweight, and then we get a lot of rocker in this ski as well, so pretty low rise camber underfoot, and then about where my hands are is where the rocker starts

 In front of me I have Volkl's new line, the Blaze 94. This is their woman's version. It's pretty identical to the men's, but they've got a different color graphic. What's great about their new Blaze is that really they've reduced weight in all their skis

 There's also metal under the binding plate to reinforce your bindings and help create a stiff ski when you're really on edge. When we look at the shape of the ski this way, profile, it's got a nice early tip rise in order to go over all the crud and anything you might come into contact with. And again, a little bit of tip rise in the tail. Not much camber underfoot

 It's not exactly a powder ski, but it's still going to have that float because of the shape of the tips and the tails. But it is also going to be able to flex underfoot to hold onto those groomed chels. I'd take it just about anywhere, but just about any binding you want on it uphill. Their new Duke PT would be an excellent choice for this ski

 They basically made it more maneuverable, lighter and overall just easier to ski. So it's skis great for an intermediate skier and even up to an advanced skier as well. He said when you're getting off the lift now, he said that when your legs are tired from skiing the Mantra, this is the one that you're going to want. Okay

 So as an ex-racer, I really appreciate the fact that these are a stiff ski and that you can lay into them pretty hard. However, I have sort of transitioned out of that realm and like to have a little bit more of a playful ski that's just a little bit more forgiving, has some more rocker. So these are not what I would pick for myself as a daily driver. They have like a lot of tip and tail rocker, but it's really slow

 The metal is underfoot, which gives it a nice stability through the turn. I was really able to sink my edges right kind of in the middle of the ski and hold a really nice edge through the turn, but the tips are really nice and light, nice and flexible, and also there's an extended rocker profile on the tip of this ski, which makes it very smooth and very easy for getting in and out of turns. These are going to be really great for holding a really hard edge on groomers, but at the same time, there is a fair amount of rocker tip and tail, so they are pretty forgiving. I went in some moguls with them

 Another nice thing that vocal does is this ski does have a little sheet of metal in it, which is what gives it that great damping feel, but vocal has noticed that over the years, if you put metal all the way up to the ski, it really stiffens the ski up, and you said it had a nice soft feel to it, I think. Yeah, absolutely, and I was able to release my edges, too, and kind of slide my tail out a little bit, which I enjoyed. They would bite, but they would also release. Perfect, yeah, a good combo of biting and releasing

 We were doing some turns on kind of a green, we were doing some carving turns, and we both noticed that you could really actually carve at low speed, which is one of the hardest things to do on skis. As you know, you're a race coach, trying to get your kids to carve at low speed is one of the hardest things. It's a challenge. And this ski does a nice job of that, so you don't have to get going really fast to make this ski turn

 Yeah, the one thing that is in this ski is called 3D radius, so vocal has figured out a way to make this part of the ski have a little bit of a tighter turning radius, like a 14, which allows it to carve really tight turns, but then they kind of changed the radius in the tip and made it a little bit straighter so it doesn't hook up on you, same thing in the tail. So really, some cutting edge technology here that you'll feel on sort of a flatter slope. We were doing some turns on kind of a green, we were doing some carving turns, and we both noticed that you could really actually carve at low speed, which is one of the hardest things to do on skis. As you know, you're a race coach, trying to get your kids to carve at low speed is one of the hardest things

 Remember the skis have a little bit of rocker, a little early rise in the tip, and a little bit in the tail, so they will ski a little bit shorter than the length indicates.
