The Fathom is a feature-rich reverb with 4 different customized reverb algorithms to choose from. Easily go from tasteful, small room reverb to long, modulated trails dripping of ambient goodness. The toggle switch adds options for low, medium and high modulation. Use the dampen knob to fine tune the tone of the reverb's decay. The Fathom features 4 different algorithms. Hall - wide, open and vast with decay that ends with high-frequency roll off. X knob adjusts pre-delay. Plate - full body reverb with a smooth decay. X knob adjusts pre-delay. Lo-fi - filtered reverb with decay ranging from warm, to thin am-sounding radio. X knob adjusts filter width. Sonar - reverb fed with both a high and low octave with the ability to blend the octaves with the x knob. Momentary functions: when the pedal is in off position, press and hold the bypass switch to temporarily activate the effect to add a moment of reverb. Releasing the switch turns the effect off. Press and hold the sustain switch while the pedal is on, to sustain the reverb decay for a dreamy ambient decrescendo. Trails mode: To turn trails mode on or off, unplug the pedal and press and hold down the bypass switch for two seconds While plugging the pedal back in.

 Very full-bodied you can hear both the low and the high octave there so what I'm going to do slam it over so you can hear the low octave on its own and then we'll bring it in to the high octave. So those are the four reverb modes and of course they can be customized how you wish with the dampening with the amount of decay and the mix of course what I'm going to do now is show you what the modulation mode will do so I've gone back to whole reverb so you can hear a low amount of modulation and then we'll put it onto medium and then high so you can hear just how much you're getting. It's a really nice modulation I really liked that especially on the R87 as well you have that control over some of the delays and I think it's just a nice way to add a little bit more texture and ethereal dreamy vibes to your reverb so that's very cool. Next I'm going to show you the sustain pedal and how that works essentially you just have to press and hold so I mean I'm I could get lost for hours with that I really enjoy that I think it's good I'm glad that they've put that on the pedal because I suppose just having that little extra feature of functionality somehow creates a whole new world to the pedal just because you can just hold it and then add to it and create these big textures and big swells it's very satisfying so yeah really really impressive so that's kind of an overview of the fathom and the way it sounds you know going between all the different reverbs and I showed you that you know the modulation and essentially what the X knob does what I want to do now is introduce the rp 87 and then basically just give you a load of tones and different sounds that you can get using the fathom so yeah here we go yeah well there you go there is the walrus audio fathom reverb pedal

 So if you look at the controls on the pedal you can see we've got decay, dampen and mix along the top. One thing that's nice about the Fathom is that they've added a little line on the mix knob so that when you line it up with the dial it means it's equal parts dry and wet signal, so it's nice that they've added that in there because sometimes, well, it's a common feature, you know, dry and wet but it's nice to know exactly where sits the perfect amount of reverb and dry signal or should I say the exact same amounts. Then we've got the X knob which is essentially, it serves different functions depending on the type of reverb using. So on Hall and Plate it affects pre-delay, on Lo-Fi it affects the filter width, so the amount of notching essentially, it's like an AM radio effect of course so you can either have more or less low-end and high-end so it becomes really quite filtered

 So it really is a case of if you like the way it sounds and you want to be inspired then you should get this pedal. That's kind of my ethos with it and again I've teamed it up with the RP-87, if you already got one of those Revo pedals then the two go so well together and I also threw in some dirty fuzz because I like that kind of big, swirly, fuzzy, ambient sound and yeah, basically, yeah, you've done a great job, Walrus, I think. It's one of those pedals that I'm glad it's here and I'm going to use it and I'm going to put it on records and just have fun with it because I love the modulation, I love that whirring, you've got, as far as the sort of modulated reverb and delays go, I haven't heard anything I find quite as musical as the Walrus stuff and that's my personal opinion and feedback to you guys. So yeah, definitely thumbs up from me

I got both the earthquaker afterneath( review will be over there) and the walrus audio fathom. To start off I will say both are superb pedals. In my opinion I do like the afterneath a bit more but I'm going to focus on the fathom. So like I said this is a fantastic pedal

 Okay the sonar mode is pretty fun to mess around with. To me it sounds like it adds octaves to the tone mixed with a fun wobble (or maybe that was me when adding a tremolo to it can't remember) but at the medium and high positions switch position you get the full sonar effect. When you have it on low it just the octave up or down depending on the "x" knob. Overall great pedal and I would highly recommend if people are looking for a good basic reverb with the ability to add spice

 Like I said in the beginning I do like the afterneath pedal by eq it is more complicated pedal but you can fine tune the tone a bit more

I compared eq afterneath and walrus audio fathom

 And also I have the dampen back, which keeps the sound bright and clear. Here's a setting that can easily beat you with a full stack in the middle of Albert Hall. It has a nice warm decay, and it doesn't get overloaded by a heavy overdrive in front. Well, there's your look at the multifunctional Fathom Reverb from Walrus Audio

 This is a great way to keep your playing nice and clear, because there's more space between your playing and the reverb tails. In the lo-fi setting, you could really experiment with higher decay levels and that heavier modulation. I've rolled off plenty of low end with the X knob, and the dampen is increased to keep it warm. This way it doesn't really clash with the guitar's dry signal

 With powerful modes such as Hall, Plate, Lo-Fi and Sonar, which uses upper and lower octaves, the Fathom can cover some serious ground in the reverberation world. To control each mode, the dampen adjusts the high frequencies of the decay of the reverb, while the X has a different function in every mode. In the Hall setting, which is a wide open space with a smooth high-end roll-off, the X knob controls the pre-delay, which lets you tailor the attack of the reverb. Plate also gives you a full-bodied studio-style reverb, with the X knob controlling the pre-delay just like those classic albums from the 60s and 70s

 I've rolled off plenty of low end with the X knob, and the dampen is increased to keep it warm. This way it doesn't really clash with the guitar's dry signal. And let's hear a bit more pitch shifting reverb with the sonar mode. I have the X knob above 12 o'clock, which favors more of the upper octaves, but there's still a little bit of the low octave in the mix

First, the good. I bought this to use with an old amp I got from a friend; the amp had the basic volume and tone but no reverb; reverb's kind of my thing and I really wanted to explore the possibilities of a device made just for that effect. I'm not disappointed; this device is a lot of fun to play with, and I'm still having a great time learning what it can do.  Okay, the bad

Great product but you'll need to work for it.

 In plate mode, you can actually mix all of the dry signal, pretty much all of the dry signal out. The pedal has a sustain knob, which will introduce an almost infinite roll-off for the decay of the reverb. Low-fi mode is pretty cool. It's basically a filtered reverb, which you can adjust with the X knob, and mix as little or as much as you want in

 Decay, almost infinite decay, but not quite. It will roll off in the end. Dampen is a high-frequency roll-off for just to tame the warmth of your reverb effect, and mix of course is the dry to wet mix, and at the little white notch here at about two o'clock, it's about halfway. The pedal at the moment is in trails mode

 It's a T-style guitar running into an MI Audio Iron Duke amplifier. Very clean, gorgeous sounding amp, and the clean tone is..

 I'll run the X knob about halfway here. Decay at about nine o'clock, and dampen at noon. So turning it on.

 The "shimmer" effects, which they seem to downplay, are very nice, and the ability to mix in an octave above or below is fun. I wish there was more control over the modulation (pitch bending) and I usually switch it off, but for the money, the pedal couldn't be better.  That said, if you want a reverb where every sound, every option sounds great and none leave you asking, why did they do this? The Neunberger Immerse is just a bit better, IMO. It's also stereo, more subtle, and a bit more expensive

If you are using reverb as an obvious effect and not just something the listener isn't really aware of, the Fathom is great. I like a lot of the sounds and the ability to manually extend the reverb trail is ingenious.  Now the program you're going to select the different type of reverb. You have hall, plate, lo-fi and sonar. We'll get into more detail later. Mix, obviously adjust your wet dry mix

 Not a whole lot of reverb pedals on the market have a pre-delay adjustment. For the lo-fi, it's going to adjust the filter width of the filter that goes in the lo-fi reverb. It's better if you hear that rather than hear me talk about it, so we'll get to that in a bit. And then when we get to sonar, that's really what I love

 You can go full dry to full wet, which is awesome. The dampen is sort of your high-end tailoring for the reverb sound. You can have it be full bright or you can start to darken it a little bit, make it a little bit more washy. And then you have the decay, which is going to set how long your reverb is going to decay out

 So you can see with that even lower mix setting the lo-fi really cuts. So one of the things that you might have some time to experiment with is finding the balance with some gain. When you go to play sonar, I want you to think of it like this. Think of a shimmer reverb and then think of its anti shimmer cousin

 It sounds really nice with the moog. I planned on mostly using it for ambient sound scapes but it really shines when used more subtle. Note: I purchased this on sale for $150, which made it a no brainer. At the normal $200 asking price I would suggest splurging the extra $100 for the strymon blue sky

I use this primarily with my Moog Grandmother. I bought it for the sonar algorithm but have I have been using the low fi algorithm the most. It sounds really nice with the moog. I planned on mostly using it for ambient sound scapes but it really shines when used more subtle

 But after a few weeks with the pedal, I'm loving this pedal so much. It does so many great things. And the reason I got this pedal was because I'm looking for like to do some ambient bass stuff. Signal chain for today's video is my trusty bass rocking

 And this does different things according to which of the settings you might have your pedal set up. On your whole, play low five on the sonar. But now the bypass is what I'm most interested about this type of pedal. On and off, right? But if you have the pedal off and you just hold on to the pedal, like you're going to see in a little bit, the sustain comes in

 And the reason this is one of my favorite things of the pedal is because it has a little notch. I don't know if you can see that little notch over here. This is that where you have like 50% of the pedal on and 50% of your instrument. It has this plus, minus, x knob
