Hi there folks. I'm about to become a first time home owner and am excitedly thinking of all the things I can do in my back yard. I'd like to get into smoking, and I think a pellet grill may be right for me, however, I'd also like to be able to grill in the more traditional manner. Should I be considering both a pellet grill *and* propane grill, or do pellet grills do it all just as well?

Many of the pellet-fed models I've looked at seem to advertise an "8-in-1" design, though I'm skeptical of such claims. Am I wrong to think I should be getting two different products for two different purposes?

Which Pellet Grill Do I Want?

I returned my budget Louisiana Grills lg700 to Costco today because sometimes it would go into the shutdown stage but just keep burning. I was happy to get rid of it to be honest, there were lots of other minor problems. It was my first pellet grill.

I really use my WSM a lot more, I love the thing. But I still want something quick and easy for weeknights or when I'm pressed for time. When the LG worked it did make better food than a gas grill. But it aggravated me more often than not.

So what would you do, step up and buy a really good pellet grill knowing it'll sit there idle most of the time when I use the WSM? Is a reqtec or GMG worth the extra $? Good enough to steal time from my WSM?

I just purchased a Camp Chef Woodwind 24" after hearing mostly positive things about the company and grill. This week there seems to be a couple posts and comments in those posts with people talking negatively about the quality of these grills?

Hi Y'all! The title is pretty true, though I'm buying it for my boyfriends birthday this year! His old grill eventually died on him a few years ago and he very much misses it, but hasn't had an excuse to by himself one. So I thought I'd buy him one as a gift. I also like cooking and grilling so it would get a ton of use.

I was thinking of getting a pellet grill since he's expressed that's what he prefers, so I was thinking of specifically a Victory 35-inch pellet grill. 

Do any of y'all have any good recommendations? I just want to get him something he'd enjoy but isn't complete overkill.

buying my first grill

Hi all!

I moved into a house after a few years in an appt, and I am ready to get a smoker. For years previously, I used a Weber Smokey Mountain for all smoking needs, and a roommates grill for all grilling needs. Now that it's just me, I want a combined unit. I also want to move away from charcoal, because I'm getting tired of how dirty it is, how long it takes to reach temp, and then trying to keep the temp stable for long cooks.

It is for this reason that I am looking towards pellet grills. I like the simplicity of them. I also still want to grill/sear, so I want that part of the package too. So basically here are my requirements:

* Pellet Smoker
* Propane grill. Pref. half the unit and not a sidebox. 
* Gen 2 PID (+/- 5 degrees) control over smoker
* Easy Ash cleaning, ideally with no shopvac needed
* Long lasting - will be kept outside 24/7 although with form fitting cover
* Wifi/Bluetooth control is not important, but I do like the temp notifications.
* Budget: Less than $800

I am looking at the Pit Boss KC Plantinum Combo and Camp Chef SmokePro DLX/Side Sear. What would be your alls recommendations?
