Any suggestions for a great 4 season sleeping bag for men?

 I know I’ll be using it at least a dozen nights a year in winter camping alone. Knowing I’ll be warm and cozy most if not all of those nights with a sub 3lb bag makes it worth it to me. 

Just what I was looking for

First I would figure out your total pack weight for a 3 night trip. Toiletries, food, water purification, clothing, entertainment, first aid, etc.

Really you need to do your own research into the differences and understand where the most efficient spots are to cut weight for a given price.

 Might not be to others, but sleeping bag/pad is a huge item in terms of weight and quality of life. Not about vainity just overal ease of use, comfort, durability, etc.. never regretted the purchase which I can't say for others sleeping bags I've had

In 2 months (May 21-June 1st in Alberta - Banff &amp; Jasper) I'm to embark  on a more ambitious camping trip then I usually do. I hope to do  2 sets of 3 nights out in the woods. I'm happy to spend to upgrade my camping gear - but I'm having a hard time seeing the difference between mid-range &amp; high-end equipment.

  
Examples:  
**Here's two sleeping bags I was looking at:**

Is the 5°C and 0.25Kg really what's costing me another 370$?   
For my level of camping is splurging another 370$ really worth it?   
I really feel the McKinley would suit me just fine unless I'm missing something.

Pertinent info:  
**1)** About the coldest T° I'd camp in is 0°C (that's 32°F for those south of the border). Below that I'd splurge for a hotel and cancel my camping.  
**2)** I get that tents are generally more about keeping the weather (snow, rain, wind, etc...) *out* while sleeping bags are more about keeping your T° right - with each having a little bit of overlap.  
**3)** I can live with a strong drizzle of rain - but a downright storm I'm spring for a hotel.  
**4)** I can absolutely see myself doing more &amp; bigger camping trips - but I'm not interested in pro-level exploration of camping trips of more than 3-4 nights at most.  
**5)** I don't mind (in fact I expect) to sleep in my tent &amp; sleeping bag with a set of good wool socks and some gloves. I'm also OK with unzipping my sleeping bags and sleeping in my boxers if I'm getting too hot.  
**6)** I live in Canada where the weather is hugely variable throughout the seasons, but again, I don't mind to camp in hot weather (as far as I can tell too hot isn't so much a  problem) since I can just unzip my sleeping bag, or sleep on top of it, and anything below 0°C (32°F) I just wouldn't even consider.  
**7)** I am looking for something that will keep me   
**8)** I would not do winter camping - where the weather here could be as low as -35°C (-31°F)

I do get that the cheap-o coleman stuff is heavier, takes more space, and is in general less durable, weather-proof, and overall less quality. But I'm having a hard time spotting the reason to buy a 500$ sleeping bag vs. a 110$ sleeping bag. I also get that the more expensive (vs. mid-range) is a little more waterproof, and a little bit more durable. I'm sure some of it is paying for a brand.   
But an extra 400$?!  
Is there a 'buy it for life' aspect I'm missing?  
Are campers that vain?  
Am I missing a bigger picture?  


Bonus question: If I was to splurge in a good quality tent vs. good quality sleeping bag - which would be the better splurge &amp; why?

Gear: Mid-range gear vs. high end

I have used the bag in Pennsylvania on the AT and probably could have gotten away with a lighter bag, but there are things about his particular bag that set it apart from it’s competition. For one - the shoulder width must be where they got the namesakes because the kodiak is cut for a grizzly sized dude (which I am not). That being said - it makes getting dressed in the bag a heck of a lot easier than say a WM Antelope (which I also own and use frequently).  This bag also lives true to its temp rating, like most WM bags, but not like most other bags like Big Agnes or REI

This sleeping bag is  like a piece of art. Meticulously crafted with the best materials, the best stitching, the best zipper and all of the luxuriously lofty down you could ever want. 

The only con to this bag truly is the price. I mean - almost a grand for a sack of bird feathers seems pretty steep but in the long scheme of things I expect to get a decade of solid use out of this bag. That’s with it being properly maintained over its lifetimes including storage in ideal conditions. 

Best in the biz for cold temp camping!

Amazing warmth to weight, especially roomy

Amazing bag -- expensive but worth every penny.

  That is how I knew that this bag was for me.  The microfiber fabric is soooo soft and cozy.  The stitching on the bag is really good quality.  Plus this bag is so light and the down puffs up so much even when just pulled out of a compression sack!  It is also nice that there is ample shoulder room, unlike the rather narrow MH Phantom 0
