Nice looking but the tuning nob was damaged when I received it.

 With a recommended retail price of $619 AUD, this roughly sits in the same price range as a Squier Classic 5 and is a little bit more expensive than an Ibanez Talman so I'm really keen to see how it goes. On paper the Yamaha BB234 is outstanding. It's got an outer body, a maple neck, a rosewood fretboard which by the way is a holy trinity of tried and tested tone woods. As well it's got a precision and jazz based ceramic pickup configuration and the also common vintage style tuners and bridge

The Yamaha Broad Bass is a modern reintroduction of an absolute classic. The original Broad Bass debuted in 1977 and was known to have a massive tone and a bunch of mojo. Originally the Broad Bass came out of the Yamaha factory in Japan and was praised for having a very good build quality

 Another thing I love about this bass is the shape of the headstock. I love that it matches the scratch plate and I also love the modern take on the Broad Bass logo. I think it looks so slick. I don't know about you but I'm keen to have a jam so without much further ado, let's see how it sounds

Yamaha BB234 BroadBass - Review & Demo

Hi! Maybe you can help me: I'm looking for my 1st bass guitar to play mostly styles as of The Beatles, Pink Floyd, U2, some jazz and a little bit of Vulfpeck-ish / Lo-Fi.

I tested : Yamaha TRBX 174, Eko VPJ280 Relic Fiesta Red, Squier Precision Bass, Sterling Stingray Ray4, Höfner Ignition SE, one Ibanez which strongly ressembled the Yamaha, a Kort ACT4PJ.

I found myself loving : warm, precise, deep and round sound of Eko (1st) and Squier (2nd) / size, balance and quality of the Yamaha because I don't have to carry the neck like the Squier and it's overall thinnier, lovely for my modest-sized hands. The Eko is bigger than the Yamaha but I also loved the size (bigger but don't mind it) and balance (didn't have to carry a lot the neck, contrary to the Squier).

Bonus : Love everything about the Sterling Ray4 but is "probably" too expensive and maybe not as versatile as an Eko, Squier or Yamaha.

So : I am looking for the sound of the Eko / Squier, and the balance (don't have to carry the neck) and quality of the Yamaha or Eko, in one bass. The Eko could be great but I don't like the relic finition on them and where I live they only have them. I also loved the Yamaha TRBX 174 but the sound is a little less groovy, warm and expressive as the Eko. I would prefer a vintage style (like the Sterling, the Precision).

Do you know any bass not exceeding 350$ that could reunite these criterias in one (thin neck, warm and vintage sound, not having to carry too much neck, vintage style) ? I could go with the Yamaha but with a more modern sound, though it is precise and I love that, or the Eko but with a non-relic finition (and it's not easy to get this here).

Is this a good deal for a first bass guitar?

 The only issue with the bass is that the J pickup is a bit noisy, but if you roll it down 1/4, the noise goes away.  Other than that, I'm very satisfied with the bass. I had a very small issue with the shipping that the seller, GearTree, was very quick to resolve to my satisfaction. Superb customer service

We're gonna throw it down today, throw down a little bit of low end with this absolutely beautiful Yamaha bass model number BB234, which is pretty cool. BB stands for badass bass, 234 because the first 233 versions were just okay, and they wanted to do one better. Well, they did, with this amazingly killer bass, four string version, also comes in a five string version

 But this one happens to be the four string version in the natural satin finish, which is pretty cool, feels great. It's all alder. I don't have to tap on it like you don't know where the body is. This part, it's all alder, solid alder

I'm going to begin learning Bass soon, and was wondering if anyone had advice on my options for my first bass. I don't know that much about guitars and will take all the help I can get.
