 a classic look, kind of reminds me of some of the Taylor guitar aesthetics. On the back of the neck, you've got a nice satin finish so that makes for really comfortable, comfortable feel on the neck for your hand while you're playing. And I like the satin sort of not too glossy smoothness that I'm getting on the back of the neck on this guitar compared to the glossier finish that you get on the rest of the body. So some special attention was put to the feel of the neck for the guitar playing, Hand fret work along the guitar is really nice and that's what really sort of defines the Yamaha Fg800 to me

 So full-size guitar body, but it doesn't feel overly big or anything. If you're concerned about the size of your guitar, I'd say this is a comfortable shape to go with, but nice full sound. Coming from the Dreadnought style Fg-800 guitar body, Yamaha makes it really simple with the Fg 800. just a straight up all-around acoustic guitar experience, but I'm finding it really comfortable to play and once again, just that Yamaha consistency just means I know what I'm going to get when I purchase an Fg800 and that makes it a really fun guitar to play

 The action is nice and comfortable. The neck is very easy to play, so I'm finding this guitar really fun and responsive and it's also got a nice bright sound. I would definitely describe this particular guitar as a slightly brighter sounding guitar. Could be something that's coming from the strings, but generally a bright tone coming from this guitar

<p>Looking to get back into guitar now, primarily that style, used to own a <a href="https://d1aeri3ty3izns.cloudfront.net/media/1/17583/1200/preview.jpg">Washburn D10SCE</a> which at the time was one of two highly recommended guitars I was aware of (the other being an Alvarez of some sort) for the price point. Are there any guitars these days which are stand outs at the $200-300ish pricepoint?</p>

<p>I have a slight preference for having a cutaway, though I rarely end up reaching that high. Doesn&#39;t have to be acoustic electric and doesn&#39;t have to be a dreadnought. In fact, I&#39;m not even sure a dreadnought is best suited for the style I&#39;m looking for, but I don&#39;t know much about that. I&#39;d probably still like something that sounds good when I just opt to strum chords too.</p>

<p>Thanks in advance! Also, is it still highly recommended to take brand new guitars and replace their strings with Elixir strings? Yeah, I haven&#39;t played since around 2008.</p>

[QUESTION] $200-300ish acoustic guitar for returning player?

 It suits it's purpose. I just ordered an AC5R. I hope the sound of that one inspires me a little more. I did replace the stock strings with Elixr PB 80/20s, ad maybe that dulled the tone

 Action was so high it was unplayable for me, especially on the upper frets. cost $80 to lower the action/shave the saddle. There's a few sloppy finish areas on the fretboard and where the neck meets the body. The dot markers on top the fretboard are barely visible but the side markers are good and visible

 I do't know. I'm trying to get a nice tone for outlining barre chords and jazz chords in forms 1 and 5 with my thumb. Maybe the electronics in the AC5M are the answer.

 The sound transfers through the whole top. That's really what you want to look for. That's a guitar that you're going to be able to play into your intermediate level and beyond. Really, it's just a great guitar

 They're not beautiful per se, but they play great, stay in tune and sound good. Especially if you get it setup(although they come ready to play, I just prefer to lower the saddle a bit) They're also built like tanks.

[Newbie] first guitar recommendation, budget of $350

Great guitar for casual players and beginners

 They're 200 bucks. You could probably find one cheaper used, although I haven't really seen a lot of these pop-up used. Um, but it's probably one of the least expensive guitars that actually has a solid top. It's got a solid spruce top, which is a big thing in acoustic guitars If you're looking to step up, you know from just a cheap plywood 100 buck guitar acoustic, you know this is probably the next logical step

 I played it quite a bit in some of my videos. Um, I bought it way after I was a beginner, so I still play it a lot. I have a Martin D12 and another epiphone uh, Ej 200 and this is probably my number three acoustic, but I still play it. I play that a lot

 and uh, you can also see different layers. Um, the there's like four five different layers of wood here right here. so that's not a solid piece. I'm not sure if this is a laminated also, this neck

 This thing will probably improve, the tone will improve with time, and it's got the solid Sitka spruce top. and uh, it actually looks like a fairly thick piece of spruce. which I don't know if that makes it good or bad necessarily for an acoustic to have a thicker top, but a lot of times you can look inside the sound hole there. I don't know if it really shows up, but if you're not sure if the guitar has a solid top, you can look inside the sound hole and you can kind of see the wood grain
