While I think this is pretty true, I’ll mention the black ember forge has a big chonk of a laptop compartment.

So, in the past month I've purchased/received three new bags that don't fit my Dell work laptop.  All three bags advertised they would fit a 15- or 16-inch laptop.  None of them fit my new 15 inch Dell laptop.    I never noticed this before because I used a Macbook for work until this year!

Everyday Backpack v2 - Alright, I can see where I made my mistake here.  It advertises as fitting laptops up to 1 inch, and the Dell is 1.25 inches on the thickest part.  

Aer Travel Sling 2 - Just says that it fits up to a 16 inch laptop.  No measurements on the sleeve, but based on the measurements on the site, the laptop is smaller than those measurements by an inch or more in all dimensions.  Doesn't fit in the sleeve or the bag.  

Black Ember Shadow - No measurements on the site for the sleeve, but it's very slim.  Sown directly into the back panel, no accordion or stretch to it.  

Now, it's not all bags... my MR UA 24 fits it, barely.  

I mean, this is a little bit of an annoyed rant (I'd love to see the response from the IT group... you want to go back to the Mac why?), but also a question... when did bag manufacturers start assuming that people only carry the little slip of a laptop?  And I think they need to make this more clear.  Only one vendor posted the sleeve dimensions (making it my fault I didn't check).

When did all nice backpacks only start fitting Macbooks or other ultra-slim laptops?

 these little holes and cutouts for you to attach separately sold Black Ember accessories. These are things like accessory straps, utility straps, some of the compression straps as well, and other modular pieces that you can attach on externally to the back. So here we have a panel here with these little cutouts that you can add those accessories in and also on the bottom here there are those cutouts. I'm just going to turn the bag to the side so we can have an idea of what's going on with this bag

 That goes the same for a water bottle. Unless you have a memo model, you might be able to fit this in really well, but for typical round, cylindrical water bottles, you'll struggle to fit that inside this bag unless you put it in the main compartment of the original forge. Here in this forge, it might be a bit of a struggle, although Black Emma does provide accessory straps for you to attach a water bottle to the outside of your bag, so there is that option there. Um, for a water bottle carry solution, you can go for Black Embers separately sold attachment straps just to show you how good it Is to have the expansion from 20 liters to 30 liters

 There's only the text mark branding on these zipper pulls. Here these hypalon zipper pulls as well as on these aerospace grade aluminium g hooks. There's the little Black Ember logo etched on there. One thing to note about Black Ember is that they really like laser cutting their textiles

 And here we have the Black Ember Forge. The Forge comes in two colors: black and multicam. Here we have the Multicam, which is a Black Camo 500 Denier Cordura and it also uses bonded Ykk Aqua Guard zippers, wood gin hardware as well as laser cut hypalon.  These are a little small sometimes I Like to take stuff like this from bad companies and use it as a coaster for my beverage. These are a little narrow so I'm not sure if we work without and then here in here. put your honor four of these straps. These are compression straps that will attach to the back

 It'S not like you're gon na be getting it in and out and in and out of the zipper garage, yeah. So we'll say: that's! Okay, all right! We'Re gon na pull that back out and we're gon na zip this down, compress it back to 20 liters. All right, when it's zipped down to 20 liters you've got this uh, really small, zipper garage that it goes through, that one's really easy to do. So let me show you what it looks like with this bag on

 So i was really excited to get this out on the road uh test it out, taking it to work and just using it on a daily basis. I will confess i was a little underwhelmed after some use and there's some practical things about the bag. That really started to bother me over time and some of them initially just really bugged me. So i want to start out today just kind of going around the the front of the pack and then moving our way to the back and then eventually we'll get inside and we'll get inside multiple places, because there's a lot going on with this particular bag

BLACK EMBER FORGE MAX IN BLACK REVIEW (updated)

 Usually this is one of my pet peeves because with simple front compartments or the lack of slots and compartments in a vertical direction, all of your items tend to slide down once you carry the bag and backpack mode, and then all of your items just accumulate at the bottom. The fortress front compartment has a bunch of slots and compartments that are oriented sideways to access your items easily in messenger or briefcase mode, and this orientation of the slots helps to keep everything in place. When carrying the forged in backpack mode, nothing slides down and everything stays perfectly in place. Furthermore, all of the inner lining is bright silver, so everything is easily visible inside the compartments

 However, with the Forge, all of the slots and compartments worked really well with my packing style, especially. the front compartment is really well laid out. I Kind of wish that this zipper could be parked somehow, but I personally probably just removed a zipper pole. so I don't accidentally grabbed the wrong zipper as I mentioned in the introduction I Was looking really hard to find all of the negatives when I reviewed this back

Best Bag of 2020??? Blackember Forge Backpack Review

 Okay like this, then this side you just let it drop down. Then you have a way to secure the strap easily and then you can really carry the backpack in a briefcase mode. Of course this doesn't look clean, but as I mentioned, did I mention it? This is just a temporary measure when you are on a go and then you want to convert it from backpack more into briefcase mode. This method can can avoid the usage of this velcro

 Okay so to address this issue okay let's say you are on the move and then you are carrying this backpack in backpack mode. You want to carry it in briefcase mode. You want this strap to be secured nicely. You try to avoid using this because you don't want the hot part of the velcro to damage this strap again

 but I still loved minimalistic design of it in last video I was commented as nitpicking but this is just an honest review how this backpack deal with daily situation. So I guess that's all for today. Thank you very much. If you like this video of course click on the like button

 I feel like it's really solid and I do like the material of this. They use a T6 anodized aluminum hardware on some of this and it is just gorgeous and I'll show you some of that detail in just a little bit. But we got these great Ykk zippers all around and you've got a front pocket here and so you've got zipper access to this front pocket for there's no like top small pocket and so really your front pocket is what you would use for your phone and just your gum and things you want quick access to. So this front pocket is really your quick access pocket and you'll notice on these zipper pulls a lot of them have like a dock for the zipper and you can thread this into the dock for when you're closing it shut so there's just a little bit more security for your bag

 I love the multi-functional design of this particular bag and I love how expandable it is from 20 liters to 30 liters. So I was really excited to get this out on the road. uh, test it out, taking it to work and just using it on a daily basis.  A bit wider than expected, but it's not unbearable, and definitely comes necessary when you most need it.  Great open-top pocket design so you can compartmentalize as you fill your bag up! Love the button closure on the inside, the front strap looks and works great (an issue with the older model)! the front zipper pocket is the ONLY-other storage space. Awesome leather-tag on the zipper gives it a subtle aesthetic addition. the ONLY draw back, in my opinion, is that I wished there to be a side or back extra compartment for quick-access purposes
