As a result, packing the Transit Backpack Plus does require some planning if you want to max out all of the available compartments. In our case, our setup of two large packing cubes, a large Dopp kit, and a rolled-up hoodie works. But if you throw in, say, two large water bottles on each side, then it might not work as well as before. We totally dig the amount of organization Bellroy has thrown in the Transit Backpack Plus; you just have to find your Goldilocks zone of packing to maximize its potential

 We do think there is a surplus of organization inside, and it will be up to you on how to best use it while making the most of available space. We also think the harness system could use an upgrade, with a particular focus on the shoulder straps and the aluminum hardware. The current straps don’t make the Transit Backpack Plus unbearable, just not optimal.

 The cherry on top is that the buckles on the latter two are magnetic, though we still prefer the typical side-release buckles. The bag felt comfortable to lean against as well, thanks to the well-padded back panel that has a ribbed pattern and curved shape.

Bellroy has ticked the right boxes for the harness system. The shoulder straps are densely padded, the sternum strap is mounted on a sliding system that adjusts easily, and the hip belt is padded and stows away completely behind the back panel. Bellroy Transit Backpack Plus 38L Review | Pack Hacker

I would recommend this as a daypack, bike commuter bag, and even an airplane carry on, with the caveat that it isn't the lightest of options and may not stow under a plane seat easily.

  I’m switching from a messenger bag to a backpack, but most of the time while going from house to car or car to work site I’ll just carry it by the top loop, which is often flimsy (and probable uncomfortable) on most packs.  The Burley Transit has a padded luggage style hand grip on both the top and on one side.  The main (closest to back) compartment unzips fully down both sides so it can lay open and flat (reference picture at REI).  I wouldn’t be using this as luggage, but for easily loading notebooks and work files this is a great feature

The reason I decided to return it is that this pack is 15 inches wide and all the others are 11 – 12 inches wide.  I don’t travel often (and prefer the train when possible) but when I fly this would be my carry on personal item with a laptop and book to read, which I would want to put under the seat in front of me rather than in the overhead bin, and a 15 inch width exceeded what some airlines recommend.  This would be especially true when on a small commuter plane I think.

This bag deserves a review, though I ultimately returned it for another choice.  At 28 liters, 2lbs 3 oz, and $150 it was larger, heavier, and pricier than most of the packs I was looking at, but it had some features I thought were amazingly useful.  Smaller brother, the bellroy transit backpack, which is a really solid, minimal travel bag. So i was very excited when the company announced that they had come out with a larger version. That'S a little bit better for longer term travel and i've been testing this one out for the past couple of weeks, and so far it's been a great experience. The bag has been very comfortable to wear

 So they don't stick out awkwardly and ruin the clean look of the exterior and then jumping into the capacity the bag comes in at about 38 liters, which is a really great size for one bag travel. In my opinion, this is a size. I really like its overall aesthetic and it also has a really nice organizational layout, and so you can currently purchase this on bellroy's site for about 289 dollars, which is definitely premium pricing for a travel bag and a bit of an investment. But the bag does have a phenomenal, build quality and some really great features that might make it worth the additional cost

 Your tech pouch your lunch, some folders books, things like that and make this a completely work, backpack, what's really great about open, cavities like this is that you can store different types of gear for different situations, so i've stored some clothing that i'm going to change into, But you could use it for a different situation. You could put a camera cube in there with your camera gear and make this a pseudo camera bag, and the clamshell opening actually complements that quite well or say, for instance, you're. A super minimalist traveler and you've got some clothing and some tech gear, and you can store it all in here. You could do a mix of that speaking of tech gear, we're going to move to our next main compartment, the tech compartment, and here we have two sections

 There is this soft mesh foam type material along these shoulder straps, which is nice and dense, so they'll provide a decent amount of comfort when you're carrying it. It'S not as robust or decked out as the bellroy transit backpack or the transit backpack plus. That'S because you'll be carrying slightly less in this bag, so it's got a slightly less serious back panel here, but nevertheless, still padded still comfortable and will do the job in providing a comfortable carry on the back panel. We have that same foam, plush padding and we've got a little bit of a pronounced lumbar support panel at the bottom here kind of bounces out, so that it can provide a lot of comfort for that lower back area, there's no sternum, strap or waist belt

 You can all put that in there. Typically, it's things that you want to be pairing with your laptop here we have the laptop sleeve, which is fleece line. It'S soft to the touch so it'll protect your laptop from any scratches, and this compartment can hold up to a 16 inch laptop you'll. Be pleased to know that it is suspended from the bottom of the bag, so if you accidentally drop it on its base, that buffer will absorb most of the impact, but we're seeing more of this sort of setup from bellroy, where we have a separated tech area

Optimised For Minimalist Travel - The Bellroy Transit Backpack

 I wrote this on my bike kind of through the mud and the rain and got a decent amount of spotting on it. I have cleaned it off since just with water and a bit of dish, soap, but i haven't really got all of it out yet so all that being said, it's you know possible to get this out, but it doesn't really quickly wipe away. So i just kind of wanted to show you on this video, how that can look. I'Ve been over this multiple times, it's just like a paper towel and some cleaner and it hasn't quite got out yet so i might, you know, resort to like a brush or something like that

Bellroy Transit Backpack Plus 38L Review (1 Month of Use)

 So you know just it feels great in the hand to kick it off with this material here on the outside yeah, the harness system. So far, so good I've had this loaded up with quite a bit of gear kind of taking things back and forth from the co-working space yesterday and yeah like a little leather accents here, there's plenty of padding here so there's some thicker and dense EVA foam, and I feel like for a bag of this size that is um, that's good! Then we have the sternum strap that's kind of on this rail. You know obviously, like that it's you can take it off. If you want and it's you know, but you don't need to

 This is a little bit stretch here and it's by no means that plasticky cheap mesh that you feel inside of some bags. So everything feels nice in the hand this opens right up and then you've got that same kind of mesh material. This pockets separated pretty much a full pocket up here for additional compartmentalization. So there we go close that up, and the only thing left to talk about here is the laptop compartment and the tech organization in the back of the bag, so that pretty much opens up

 Horseshoe style, which is nice, opens right up. There'S a bit of gusseting here, which is nice, so you can really kind of get into their softer material here for the fabric. You can kind of see that frame sheet, starting to bend a little bit. Here too, as I open this up yeah, it's got a false bottom, which is great, so you don't, you know, drop the if you drop your bag, it's nice that your laptop is somewhat protected and then we've actually got this other little compartment here at the top Nice blue liner, so you can see what's going on and just sort of a nice little dump pocket for tech items

Bellroy Transit Backpack Review (Initial Thoughts)

 Big chunky tech compartment in the back which can fit up to a 16 inch laptop and the main compartment. It's got this like clamshell opening and it is beefy. I mean this is a big 20 liter backpack. There's a lot that you can fit in there

 and I've been carrying this backpack around for the past five days so I got some say kind of feels like a 23 to 25 liter, like this thing's got some size to it. It's a backpack that really would look great in the office, but also you know, wouldn't look out of place on a hike. especially with the green color tab. Yes, and that was my next point

 All right. We're gonna kick off this review by talking about the overall gist of the Bellroy Transit Work Pack. So this backpack is 20 liters, which is usually a pretty ideal size for everyday carry. One thing to note about this 20 liter

 I don't want to put my shoes in the main compartment. The Air Duffel Pack 3 has its own ventilated shoe compartment, has a similar throw all sort of experience, and also the ventilation on the back panel is so good.  Just Very easy to get access to, and I've really been enjoying that feature. We Like that the bag offers overall smart pockets like this, but they're not too big to cut into the main capacity of the travel backpack, where you're gonna wanna put in packing cubes. So On some other bags,, we've found that they kinda have these really big pockets, and when you utilize those, you can't really utilize the main liter capacity of the pack.
