Canon EOS Rebel T8i vs Nikon D780

Always fuzzy. This is my issue, not the camera's I’m sure. Or so I thought but upon reading many Canon lens reviews I find a common thread among some is the auto focus either doesn’t work or stops working. The camera body is surprisingly light although for my smaller women’s hands I find it a little awkward, especially the shutter button

The D780 adds an AF-ON button to the rear, a welcome addition for photographers who split autofocus drive away from the shutter release. It's above and to the right of the display, next to the repositioned toggle switch to enter Live View and swap between still and video modes. The four-way d-pad, AE-L/AF-L, OK, and i buttons are below, to the right of the display.

You could really even look at a t7, same camera really, big drawback is no flip screen but it’s less than half the price, otherwise just get the t8i or sl3 you will be able to take fantastic photos with any of them, modern camera sensors are so good and that is a decent kit lens, you can add an ef-s 55-250 is stm lens as well if you want a nice telephoto zoom to complete the kit. You will be more than happy with the quality of images you can produce, the only limitation will really be your technique,.

5-megapixel full-frame sensor delivers excellent JPEG image quality with a good amount of dynamic range. The camera is also very well-suited to low-light photography, thanks to its incredible RAW noise handling capability.

The flip screen is definitely a bigggg plus! Also it comes with a lot of easy setting for beginners. I don’t use them often but they do come in handy here and there. I prefer shooting in RAW and in Manual. But even if you are still learning the auto settings are pretty dope! I also love how I can’t transfer photos without removing my SD card! The only reason why this didn’t get 5 stars is because it came with the wrong battery charger! I received a LC-E12 charger instead of an LC-E17

For instance, the Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR kit lens we tested the camera with does a fantastic job of reducing camera shake. Overall, it's a well-constructed, full-featured DSLR that makes for a great wildlife photography camera for most people.

Partner it with a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM for portrait work and you're on to a winner.

However, one of my primary check boxes was to keep using my Tamron glass and that is where I've run into problems. My 70-200 2.8 G1 does not play well with the LV mode . Basically, if you're in LV and the AF is engaged, the LV will shut off intermittently

The T8i is a little more recent and seems to have better (slightly faster) autofocus, along with video stabilization

That said, the camera doesn't have in-body image stabilization, which means you'll need to use optically stabilized lenses if you want more stability when shooting handheld. There's also an electronic stabilization feature, but enabling it incurs a small crop. Despite lacking IBIS, however, the camera does a fantastic job smoothing out camera shake with its optically stabilized kit lens. All in all, if you don't mind a bit more bulk and weight, this is an excellent all-around camera

I do like that it is pretty lightweight and for a female it just means she might use it more because it's easier to carry. Now I do like that on the T8i getting lenses are pretty easy and don't really need many accessories for it. Another concern of mine is night time photography. I'm not sure if it's the lenses that really matters but taking pictures of the night sky and star exposures is something that stands out as well, and in that regards I don't know which is better

That said, it's also a very heavy, bulky camera that's less suited to travel or street photography.

I researched for months on great entry level camera and I am a Canon person. This meets everything I need. Camera is perfect if you want it to do camera and video. I did not need big 4k video so this one worked great

But there is no IBIS and the current price of $2300 is ridiculous. This should not cost more than a Nikon Z6. It seems it is priced intentionally to not sell.

The editing software from Canon is also great. The first pic is with a 24mm prime lens and the second and third pic is a 50mm prime. All were edited in Canon's Digital Photo Professional 4. The fourth is the 18-55 lens that comes with the camera and not edited (It's the first day I went out to use the camera)
