This is my first Elektron instrument. It's built like a tank - the case, the buttons and the knobs should stand up to way more abuse than I'll ever dish out. Listening to the included samples, the sound is luscious, and pro quality, which you would expect at this price. What attracted me to this sampler are the Parameter Lock and Trig Condition features - because, on a per-step basis, you can throw probability percentages, ratios and if/then qualifiers into the mix, and make even a single short sequence sound (potentially) different with each run through

 Listening to the included samples, the sound is luscious, and pro quality, which you would expect at this price. What attracted me to this sampler are the Parameter Lock and Trig Condition features - because, on a per-step basis, you can throw probability percentages, ratios and if/then qualifiers into the mix, and make even a single short sequence sound (potentially) different with each run through. Really cool, and really powerful!  The cautions I would raise are - though this is supposed to be one of the 'easier' Elecktron instruments, it still has a pretty steep learning curve than compared to something like the Korg Electribe sampler for example. With practice and study, the workflow does make sense, and the device seems more and more like a musical instrument to me, but that was after a lot of reading, YouTube video watching, and trial and error

 when hitting the pad at a flatter mounting angle. All pads on the SPDSX Pro actually

 have a greater degree of sensitivity, but at the same time increased crosstalk protection

 to prevent the hitting of one pad from triggering another. In order to expand your pad playing

 surfaces, the SPDSX Pro has the ability to add up to eight external mono single zone

 triggers or four stereo triggers for dual head and rim sounds. The SPDSX Pro also has

 the ability to connect hi-hats, such as the VH-10, so that you can play hi-hat sounds

 with open and closed pedal expression and even create a mini kit setup. The external

 dual trigger inputs allow up to 19 different playing surfaces to be employed. The same

 input allows an expression pedal, such as a Boss EV-30, to be connected for real-time

 effect expression as you play. Both of these can add a greater level of creative expression
