The EVOC Hip Pack Pro 3L is in a class of its own.  While it is the top model in our Best Mountain Bike Hip Pack review, hikers may also appreciate it.  It comes with a number of amazing perks, including storage for both a bladder and bottles.  The pockets are burly and well thought out.  It is very comfortable and fits well.  The ventilation is top-notch.
With all those pros, the Hip Pack Pro is much more complex and expensive than the other models listed here.  It may be overkill for your needs.  If you fully load it up, it is quite heavy, which some people may not find comfortable.  Despite its high cost, there is not all that much storage which means you will still need to tie extra layers, after shedding them, to your waist.  But all those cons aside, it is by far our favorite hip pack for biking, and many hikers may love it as well.

 It was actually too dirty to see. This is my review on it. What i think of it and how i use it just so, you know so, let's uh we'll spin the gopro around first i'll, show you what i put in it and um. Then i'll show you it on

 Can you see? Let me check yeah you've got this, that you can clip in this to tighten it there's a little thing there so that this isn't flapping around there's the back. You really can't feel that it's there if there's no discomfort what whatsoever and then another thing i had to get separately. Was this little clip magnetic clip and the reason that that's there is so that when you ride in you take your swig and then you can just pop it back into place and it stays there. So when you're getting one just make sure that obviously you've got the bladder along with the magnetic clip but yeah

 One look at that doing me while i'm making a video, i'm gon na embarrass myself i'll leave that multi tool goes in in there along with a couple of these canisters, the adapter actually goes in there. I'Ve got a re-hook multi-tool, brilliant tool. I'Ve actually used. That goes there and then a chain tool

 Was this little clip magnetic clip and the reason that that's there is so that when you ride in you take your swig and then you can just pop it back into place and it stays there. So when you're getting one just make sure that obviously you've got the bladder along with the magnetic clip but yeah. That'S it. Thank you for watching

Evoc Hip Pack Pro 3l Review

 But personally i would not run my phone right there, because if you crash and land it on the pack, the phone's definitely going to be destroyed. And if i'm going to keep my phone in the pack, i actually try to keep it in with the hydration bladder and because of that, when you go to crash your, i feel like the hydration bladder is gon na move and absorb some of the impact.  I really like the way that they design the bladder system on these packs. You know my previous packs were from camelback and they had the large opening that you would need to somehow keep open while still filling up the pack with water and only using two hands. You know this pack utilizes a super, simple design that makes filling up super easy, so the hose retention system is pretty cool as well. It'S got a nice little magnet that keeps it in place and on a side note, they do sell these separately

 You slide them into these pockets. Tighten down this and put this over the top of the bottle and bam. You have a really heavy hitback, you know the weight you gain from those additional bottles is significant. However, if you need the additional room in the pack, you could forego filling up the hydration bladder and just taking advantage of the space it would have taken up

The evoc hit pac pro 3 has some really neat tricks and first off one of my main attractions to this hit pack was its ability to carry so much stuff. You know this pack has a one and a half liter hydration bladder, but if that's not enough water for you, you can also rock two full-size water bottles in a pack. This was one of the main features i was excited about and out here in the desert heat one and a half liters isn't always going to be enough on a long ride so being able to rock a hydration bladder and an additional two water bottles ensures that I don't die in the middle of the desert from dehydration. Now it's super easy to put the bottles into the pack as well

 You know this pack utilizes a super, simple design that makes filling up super easy, so the hose retention system is pretty cool as well. It'S got a nice little magnet that keeps it in place and on a side note, they do sell these separately. Theres ONE REASON I Bought this | EVOC Hip Pack Pro 3L Review

 I'Ve thrown it against the ground more times than i can count and, as you can see, it still looks like the day i bought it. Also one of the favorite parts about the pack for me is actually this wide elastic strap with velcro. That goes across your waist first before you do the nylon buckle. What this does is give you a lot more surface area of the pack against your waist and it's a lot more comfortable as well

 It is hard to fit anything in that rear compartment and the cell phone pocket. That'S in that front, pouch can only really fit small cell phones. My iphone pro max won't even begin to start to fit into there. So what i basically have to do is kind of just let it hang out loose there in between those storage, pockets and the actual flap

 I was looking at the kind and some other ones that had some more storage in them, but they looked like they were pretty big on the back. I wanted to keep this at a nice. Happy medium have enough space where i could carry the things that i need, but not so much space that i'm just carrying around extra weight. For no reason this seemed to follow that kind of middle-of-the-road guideline i was looking for and it has worked out really well on even longer trail rides or i might need to bring some extra nutrition or other stuff with me

 I overall, like the style and the durability and the size for my use, but definitely go out there and look for some other ones if you want to be a little bit more budget conscious when it comes to hydration packs. So what are my overall thoughts on the pack? I'Ve been really happy with it. It'S super stable on my back. I wish it was a little less expensive, but other than that i've been super happy with it

EVOC HIP PACK PRO 3L REVIEW - Are hip hydration packs the future of mountain biking packs?

 When I'm riding my downhill bike it bounces around more than I like. A camel back with a waist strap does ride tighter for that, but when I'm doing more pedaling I like the breathability. The extra elastic backing behind the buckle is a little long on me, but I'm a skinnier guy. I'm going to trim it down somehow so I won't have as much bunching from extra material

It's a fanny pack for your butt

 Wales, particularly gnarly up there. So for a magnet of that sort, it actually performs quite well for a majority of Royden, but don't expect it to stay in place for all your iDEN okay. So what sort of stuff do I take on the trail? And I want to make this brief, because what I take isn't necessarily what you're going to take, but just to give you an idea of what I carry in this at all times. Here we go

 It. You'Ve got the buckle and then you can tidy it all the way and then that clips into place - and you can tuck this in even more - have it on the other side, like I say, but hopefully you'll agree that actually looks quite good so time to wrap Things up, is it good item absolutely love it. I use this probably a good 70 % of my trial writing. Otherwise, I use the bigger backpack, but there are a couple of problems and one of them would be just the price really

 So I'm not talking about the side here that I've demonstrated you have these raised cushion areas and they really are comfortable on the back. So you don't get any big sort of sweat patches and the air is just allowed to sort of circulate through there. A lot easier just because of that design and when you take quite a bit of stuff on you, which I've been known to take a little bit too much. Sometimes it actually just gives you a bit more comfort

 So not so much just about the airflow. It gives you a lot of comfort now, one of the reasons and really the final selling point for me to go out and buy this pro version compared to the EVOC cheaper models out there is this velcro strap, because when you carry that weight, especially on a Hip pack, you want it to be comfortable and to have this big waistband. That is elasticated at this point, and then you just secure that in place wherever it's gon na be on your waist and then done up with the buckle, it really does provide that extra layer of comfort and it's by far the best hip pack. I'Ve won today compared to some other ones, where I just kind of end up with a version of this particular buckle, and it can be quite uncomfortable after a sort of short to medium ride, a feature I absolutely love on

EVOC Hip Pack Pro 3L Ultimate Review

 I think i paid like 140 for this, so it was a little steep for what it is. I mean that's more expensive than i paid for my full pack that you saw in the last video. So it's a little pricey, i'm not going to lie to you, but i think it's worth every penny because of the form factor, it's great it cinches down. It has side pouches here on each side

 This was great. This is the bladder itself, it's kind of small, but it fits in there just fine and what i really like is it has this at the top. Just like the nicer packs, the ones that open versus the screw on things, these are so good and i really wish all hydration bladders use this. So the one thing it is kind of difficult to get the hose through the first time

. I was a little bit skeptical about these things for quite some time and then i picked this thing up and i fell in love. So let me just go over why i love this pack, i'm not necessarily going to talk about what makes a hip pack great versus a full pack, because that, as a subject in itself and i'll talk about that in the next video. But i'm just going to talk about this one

 It needs to be dried out in. Two straps will help cinch down the front pocket and make its contents nice and snug. [Music] Two more large stretch pockets on either side make a perfect spot for a water bottle and fishing pole or tax tapes. These pockets can also be cinched down to size and the straps can run either on top or through the pockets

 By the time we are a few hours in I noticed that I still had absolutely no hip or back pain which I get from most other bags. Eight miles in, we laid out our bags and went to sleep. The next morning, we woke up and packed up our bags once more and headed out to complete the rest of the High divide. This bag came along with me four steep inclines, brutal declines, boulders, gravel sand, grass, snow, water, and just about any other terrain you can think of

 [Music] Passing lunch Lake meant that the rest of the trail was downhill and we would soon pass the waterfall and head over to our campsites for the night which happened to be Elkhorn along the Dos Wallops. River After many miles of intense hiking, I'm glad to sit that the granite gear crown 60 litre version 2 is approved by both my body and my wallet. Weighing in at only 2.2 pounds, this bag was a lot lighter than my old bag, which made me concerned about the durability of this pack

Granite Gear Crown 2: Hands on Review.

 Let's get deep into it. Alright now in this part of the video I Want to pack this pack with everything that I normally carry on a weekend trip. My base weight. no real food but I'm gonna throw some water in here just to feel the weight of it

 This is a size regular so it goes a 18 to 21 centimeter back fitting but that's pretty. That's a that's a wide spectrum but I've never had a problem fitting in this pack and I'm a tall guy my son as well, he's wore it and he has no problem with it too. But it does have these load stabilizing straps here once you get it on to kind of bring it and have it tuck into your body. These dual density foam shoulder straps are great

 So my final thoughts on this pack is that it's well built. It's large enough to take all my gear that I would take on an extended weekend maybe even a week I don't know the food would fit or not, but what I like about this size is that it forces you to stay under 25 pounds like I would I would by having this pack I wouldn't be just throwing stuff in like I would just say well I'm just gonna take this hammock at the last minute. No, it would resist I would resist that type of thing and stay light which would be kind of cool. So I'm interested to see what you think about this 38 litre coming out in 2018, which is a really, really great option for people who like to go lighter

Granite Gear Crown2 38L (New 2018 Backpacking Gear) Review

My biggest gripe is the 6 side compression straps and the water bottle pockets. None of the straps are long enough to attach a foam pad to the outside when it is fully stuffed (except over the top, which I often do not like to do). Also, once fully stuffed the water bottle pockets are useless.

Needs some work but overall good

 The flip top compartment can also be removed if you don't want to use it. The shoulder straps and hip belt are very comfortable and all the straps can be easily adjusted so you can dial it up just how you want it. Another really cool feature is the hip belt. You can easily make it larger or smaller for a custom fit to your waist

 There's five compartments in all which includes the two side pockets. Seven if you count the hip pockets. The flip top compartment can also be removed if you don't want to use it. The shoulder straps and hip belt are very comfortable and all the straps can be easily adjusted so you can dial it up just how you want it

I outgrew my Camelbak Fourteener when it came to doing the longer day hikes. Needed the extra room for packing extra layers, more liters of water, etc. The Crown 2 38 has more than enough room for the extra stuff I like to take with me.
