There aren't any OLED TVs available at a budget price point, but the LG A2 OLED comes close.  Typically, they are only 55 inches and larger. We bought the 48-inch LG CX OLED to put it to the test on our monitor test bench and see how it performs. We've already reviewed the 55-inch model which performs very similarly, so we won't be talking about it in this video. If you do want to see a more in-depth comparison between these sizes, then do let us know in the comments down below

 We bought the smaller 48-inch CX to test, but it's also available in larger sizes up to 77 inches. Of course 48 inches is already on the large side for a monitor, so most people probably aren't interested in these larger models to put on their desk. Now what this 48-inch size and 4K resolution means for you is a pixel density of about 92 pixels per inch. This sounds a bit low when you consider many people find the sweet spot to be about a 27-inch 1440p monitor that has 109 pixels per inch

 A low input lag is important to feel responsive, especially when playing fast paced games. The lower the input lag the lower the delay between an action in game and when you see it on the screen. At about 10ms it definitely feels responsive and shouldn't be a problem for most people. It's a bit higher than some other gaming monitors, but it's unlikely to be noticeable unless you're a really competitive gamer

 And lastly, while most monitors will just shut off the screen when your PC turns off or goes to sleep, this isn't the case with a TV. As a result, you should keep the remote handy. Now despite the differences from most monitors, the style of the CX looks good. A fast response time is crucial for gaming, as it's the time it takes for a display to change pixels from one color to the next

We bought and tested the LG 48" CX OLED as a computer monitor, and even though this is meant to be a TV, it offers impressive overall performance as a monitor. Its 4k resolution delivers an exceptionally clear image, the OLED technology displays perfect blacks, and it has very wide viewing angles. It's an excellent choice for gaming because it has native FreeSync variable refresh rate (VRR) support and it's G-SYNC compatible, the response time is near-instant, and it has a low input lag. Sadly, it doesn't get very bright because of its aggressive automatic brightness limiter (ABL), but if you want to place it in a bright room, it has outstanding reflection handling. It's a really well-built TV with a sleek design, but unlike most monitors, its stand doesn't allow for adjustments.

 Other than the app proprietary issues LG could get their butts in gear and fix the other problems with a firmware update if they care enough to do it. If LG actually reads this review if you fix the issues below you would increase the amount of customers you have.

Incredible picture and sound .....options not so much

MY PC GAMING EXPERIENCE :  rtx 3080 ftw ultra intel 10700k strix z490 mobo corsair 150 aio 32gb ram Zeskit Maya 8K 48Gbps Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable  My biggest hurdle gaming with this tv was setting up 120hz refresh rate. So in the nvidia control panel in the resolution section the 4k 120hz setting was all the way at the bottom resolution scale, kind of hidden, had to scroll all the way down past the lower resolutions to find it. I was getting a crazy amount of tearing until I did this. You could probably mess with all the settings all day until you find what you like

pc gaming with rtx 3080

 Has to do with requiring contrast between light and dark, but only being able to go so bright with the flame. Aside from that, it's great!.

I have a G9 and while it is great for gaming, I'm getting busy with work life and would prefer a 'taller' monitor. I really missing the 2180 pixels. I'm thinking about selling/swapping the monitor for an OLED.

Bonus question: Anyone have a link/info on the incoming LG 42" OLED?

Anyone use an LG CX or C1 48" OLED as a monitor? Thoughts?

 I think it's finally working now with the above settings *knock on wood*. The system shouldn't be this fragile!  -Optical out audio will sometimes hitch every 15-20 seconds. Because of problems with Apple TV 4K -> receiver -> TV HDMI loop when using Dolby vision (looks like my receiver can't handle it), I had to go source -> TV -> optical return to receiver. This worked great at first, but the TV will randomly begin hitching where audio will turn off/on for 1-2 sec every 15-20 seconds

 This seemed to be a deal-breaker at first because with instant response off you get a TON of input lag (move mouse, cursor moves wayyy later. Controls feel rubbery). The good news is I was able to work around this by switching to the "game" profile, which leads to the next bug:  -Auto power saver profile: The tv seems to want to randomly switch to the auto power saver video profile, and it causes lots of problems. Switch off this profile ASAP and if you have problems see if the TV randomly switched you back to it

Great picture and AMAZING TV, extremely buggy/frustrating software

 The TV design itself is also gorgeous with the absolute thinnest TV I've ever seen. So thin it's a bit scary to pick up because I'm worried the top of the TV will just break in half.

Truly astonishing; recommended picture settings

The first is the thinness of the screen. I understand the constant wars to be the "THINNEST TV EVAR" but it's getting ridiculous. This screen is so thin it's anorexic, and what I mean by that is that the TV is in danger of breaking every time I move it. Getting the base on the TV was a nerve-racking affair because it's required to lay the unit FACE DOWN ON THE SCREEN to assemble the base, and lifting the unit back up feels like it'll damage the screen no matter where you try to grip it from

 Ambient, indirect light from perpendicular windows are fine, but avoid any windows behind the viewing area. There's a reason why there are competing technologies right now - LCD is clearly brighter for sunlit rooms, but doesn't have the deep, rich blacks due to the backlights. OLED is stunning and amazing in the right home theatre setting, and the brightness can still be dazzling, but it's not as effective in competing with natural sunlight.
