Manfrotto Element MII Series at Beautiful Lake Powell, Utah ...

The 32mm is great for headshots and some pseudo macro photography and the image quality is comparable to my most expensive Sony lenses worth four times more.

I wanted to see if any of you have recs for a really powerful point and shoot camera? Or just a tiny camera with a solid retractable lens? I have been considering buying the Sony a7iii or the new Canon, but upon holding them both, realized I am really looking for something small enough to have with me all the time. I think either of these cameras could maybe fit the bill with a small prime lens, but I don't want to be limited to the fixed length. They are both also quite bit more than I would ideally be spending.

Back in like 2009/10/11 I had the canon G9 and then G12 and I absolutely loved them. I felt like they produced higher quality images than the consumer point and shoots of the time (people weren't really using iPhones for everything at this point) but without the bulk of the DSLRs that were becoming popular. And it was small enough to have with me all the time. And I found the little retractable lenses on them to be beautiful.

I am looking for the contemporary version of this. I am not sure if there is even something like this that exists, or if it is just the iPhone 11/12's now. I have not upgraded so haven't tested out the 3 cameras. It is primarily for stills, but passable video quality would be nice.

I would be very grateful for any ideas on cameras or advice! Or if anyone has experience with the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III, as that looks like the most current in this line. Though I don't know how it holds up to its predecessors.

Professional grade point and shoot?

the canon 4000D is a joke, its old tech crippled and remarketed, you can get a better camera for the same price such as a canon 60D or 650D however, the m50 mii is miles better than the two cameras, only thing you are missing out on is battery life and all the advantages is on justthegrimm's comment. i suggest you splash for the m50, dont have budget? save alittle more, its really worth all that money, plus overall its a smaller kit and effortless to carry around and shoot with

Canon EOS 4000D OR M50 mark ii?

 Hi my name is Stuart Forster and today I'm going to show you the Manfrotto Element MII tripod that stands for the Made in Italy or the Mark II because this is an upgrade to the Manfrotto Element range. So as you can see I've got the bag on my shoulder there the tripod comes with this carrying bag it's got a drawstring which closes the bag and it is incredibly easy to set up the tripod which is just about 42 and a half centimeters long when it's packed down. It weighs 1.55 kilograms so it's nice and light that makes it an ideal tripod for travel

 When it first showed up, I didn't realize what it was. The box was small, like way too small for me to think that it held a monopod, and that brings me to the first point on this piece of gear, and maybe the biggest selling point. It's compact. For anyone who is looking to travel light, this absolutely fits the bill

 I've been using this since it showed up about a month or so ago, and I've come to the conclusion that it does what it's designed to do, and it does it very well. And that's what I think is important to take away from this. If you're looking for the be-all-end-all-only monopod you'll ever need, this probably isn't it. And unless you do an extremely narrow range of work, that be-all-end-all doesn't really exist

 How do I explain this? Some other monopods that I have used have had some type of tapered threaded lock thing at the bottom, and you can tighten that down to keep the monopod plumb. There's nothing like that here, but in using this monopod, I didn't miss having those options. I've been using this since it showed up about a month or so ago, and I've come to the conclusion that it does what it's designed to do, and it does it very well. And that's what I think is important to take away from this

 The goal here was to create a light and compact but capable support system, which, as I mentioned at the beginning of this video, means design trade-offs had to be made. And in my opinion, those trade-offs have been managed really well on this unit. It's very well suited to anything in the travel category where keeping size and weight to a minimum are a big deal. For macro work, where you need that extra stability, I found it really helped to minimize camera movement while not getting in the way

 If you're looking for the be-all-end-all-only monopod you'll ever need, this probably isn't it. And unless you do an extremely narrow range of work, that be-all-end-all doesn't really exist. We love the Manfrotto MT190XPRO4 and deem it a top choice for many reasons. This midweight option shrinks down to 19 inches and stands to a tall height of 63.5 inches to the base plate. It offers 360-degrees of swivel, with the ability to mount cameras of all sizes on the head of your choosing. While many other competitors have several knobs and a less easy-to-use interface, this only uses one, with an additional push button to release and extend the shaft of the tripod for a variety of positions. You can position it as low as two inches off the ground in portrait view. Though we might not opt to lug it along on a long hike, it's portable and is a decent weight for its size. 
As is usually the case, quality costs a little extra. When performing our stability tests, this model did better than most of the other options in the review &mdash; the Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ being the exception. While the knobs are easy to use, the shoulder tabs take some fiddling to unlock and adjust. Our main complaint is that the Manfrotto doesn't come with its own head, so you need to purchase this separately. For those seeking a general-use tripod, this is our favorite for its winning combo of versatility, portability, and a reasonable weight without being over-engineered.

 The weight of the tripod is more than what I thought it would be. The tripod does however have a great stability and I feel that once my spotting scope is mounted it will be quite safe.

A good tripod that has some strength and some weaknesses.

 After borrowing this tripod for a few excursions into London and Thetford forest, I finally broke down and purchased one for myself as I felt it best met my criteria and represented a perfect balance between height, weight, cost and stability. It's heavier than the backpack tripods, but not by much (1.2lb over the meFoto backpacker and manfrotto beFree), which is an easy sacrifice when you need a taller tripod that is stable enough to handle a heavier kit. At the same time it was a little over 1 pound lighter than the CXPRO3

  Recommendation: If you're looking for a tall tripod and can compromise 1.2 pounds on weight and a little compactness, I recommend this over the meFoto and beFree. If you're considering the 055CXPRO3 and are considering using it for hiking or walking around town, I recommend this as well. All in all, I think it is the perfect middle ground between a full size and travel specific tripod

 The criteria I looked at was weighted to maximum height, weight, stability, cost, and folded length. Right off the bat, the meFoto and beFree were at a serious disadvantage due to their maximum height, however their weight, cost and compactness kept them in the running. The MT055CXPRO3 was right up my alley in terms of maximum height, however I was a little concerned about the cost and the compactness, and a little with the weight being almost three pounds heavier than the meFoto and beFree. I had rented the meFoto and beFree from a local camera shop, and I found they were good but their stability seriously lacked

2lb difference between this and the travel designed tripods going to make much of a difference over time? Probably not a significant one, and if you carry your gear enough you'll build up the strength and endurance anyways. I carried this around the London Super Comic Con for two days and it was really no different than not having it, or having my monopod on there.  Recommendation: If you're looking for a tall tripod and can compromise 1.2 pounds on weight and a little compactness, I recommend this over the meFoto and beFree

Perfect tripod between height, weight and cost.

 I've used it for some macro shots and it worked well. If it lasts for several years it will be worth the money.

Sturdy low, Shaky high

 We are able to set up the tripod fully extended without having to use the telescoping arm to look through the viewfinder without bending over. What a relief that is.  Manfrotto did an excellent job with the overall design of this tripod. While there are certainly more expensive models out there with different bells and whistles, I'm not sure there are any in this price range that fit our needs as well as this model
