Manfrotto Element MII Series at Beautiful Lake Powell, Utah ...

The 32mm is great for headshots and some pseudo macro photography and the image quality is comparable to my most expensive Sony lenses worth four times more.

I wanted to see if any of you have recs for a really powerful point and shoot camera? Or just a tiny camera with a solid retractable lens? I have been considering buying the Sony a7iii or the new Canon, but upon holding them both, realized I am really looking for something small enough to have with me all the time. I think either of these cameras could maybe fit the bill with a small prime lens, but I don't want to be limited to the fixed length. They are both also quite bit more than I would ideally be spending.

Back in like 2009/10/11 I had the canon G9 and then G12 and I absolutely loved them. I felt like they produced higher quality images than the consumer point and shoots of the time (people weren't really using iPhones for everything at this point) but without the bulk of the DSLRs that were becoming popular. And it was small enough to have with me all the time. And I found the little retractable lenses on them to be beautiful.

I am looking for the contemporary version of this. I am not sure if there is even something like this that exists, or if it is just the iPhone 11/12's now. I have not upgraded so haven't tested out the 3 cameras. It is primarily for stills, but passable video quality would be nice.

I would be very grateful for any ideas on cameras or advice! Or if anyone has experience with the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III, as that looks like the most current in this line. Though I don't know how it holds up to its predecessors.

Professional grade point and shoot?

the canon 4000D is a joke, its old tech crippled and remarketed, you can get a better camera for the same price such as a canon 60D or 650D however, the m50 mii is miles better than the two cameras, only thing you are missing out on is battery life and all the advantages is on justthegrimm's comment. i suggest you splash for the m50, dont have budget? save alittle more, its really worth all that money, plus overall its a smaller kit and effortless to carry around and shoot with

Canon EOS 4000D OR M50 mark ii?

 Hi my name is Stuart Forster and today I'm going to show you the Manfrotto Element MII tripod that stands for the Made in Italy or the Mark II because this is an upgrade to the Manfrotto Element range. So as you can see I've got the bag on my shoulder there the tripod comes with this carrying bag it's got a drawstring which closes the bag and it is incredibly easy to set up the tripod which is just about 42 and a half centimeters long when it's packed down. It weighs 1.55 kilograms so it's nice and light that makes it an ideal tripod for travel

 When it first showed up, I didn't realize what it was. The box was small, like way too small for me to think that it held a monopod, and that brings me to the first point on this piece of gear, and maybe the biggest selling point. It's compact. For anyone who is looking to travel light, this absolutely fits the bill

 I've been using this since it showed up about a month or so ago, and I've come to the conclusion that it does what it's designed to do, and it does it very well. And that's what I think is important to take away from this. If you're looking for the be-all-end-all-only monopod you'll ever need, this probably isn't it. And unless you do an extremely narrow range of work, that be-all-end-all doesn't really exist

 How do I explain this? Some other monopods that I have used have had some type of tapered threaded lock thing at the bottom, and you can tighten that down to keep the monopod plumb. There's nothing like that here, but in using this monopod, I didn't miss having those options. I've been using this since it showed up about a month or so ago, and I've come to the conclusion that it does what it's designed to do, and it does it very well. And that's what I think is important to take away from this

 The goal here was to create a light and compact but capable support system, which, as I mentioned at the beginning of this video, means design trade-offs had to be made. And in my opinion, those trade-offs have been managed really well on this unit. It's very well suited to anything in the travel category where keeping size and weight to a minimum are a big deal. For macro work, where you need that extra stability, I found it really helped to minimize camera movement while not getting in the way

 If you're looking for the be-all-end-all-only monopod you'll ever need, this probably isn't it. And unless you do an extremely narrow range of work, that be-all-end-all doesn't really exist.   I'm a bit wary about the bottom section. When used as a monopod, I feel especially cautious about bending/breaking the last section by putting weight on it. Speaking of caution, I find myself always double checking the twist locks. I prefer flip locks because you can easily tell if a section isn't locked, but Mefoto doesn't offer that option

  ## Legs ##  There's no bubble level on the tripod body. I could attach another bubble level, but even my awful Sunpak had this built in. Leveling the camera by the head alone is a rookie mistake that may lead to damaged gear, so this should be compulsory for tripod manufacturers.  Fully extended with the center column raised, I can shoot at eye level, and I'm nearly 6' tall

 It's light, compact, capable of standing really tall or getting really low. Panning is nice and smooth. For a micro-four-thirds shooter, the load capacity should be more than you'll ever need. If you're shopping for your first tripod, this is a great value for the price

 As reviewer C. Scholz mentioned, the ball shifts as you lock it in. It seems to tilt toward the locking knob, so compensate by tilting it a little in the opposite direction. I bought this to be able to lock in precise compositions, so this is my biggest gripe

Decent companion for MFT shooters

  Value- Exceptional is the only word I have to describe the value of this tripod. Yes it is made in China, but those who think everything coming out of China is junk are fooling themselves. You usually get what you pay for, but in this case you are getting a tripod that could be sold by someone else for a lot more than you pay for it. The main reason why I picked this tripod was the great reviews at Amazon

 The warranty for this thing is 3 years, but if you fill in the registration they give you an extra 2 years. This can all be done on their web site. The problem I had was I couldn't find a serial number on the tripod to put in the registration. Last Saturday, I emailed them and asked where it was

  I had a hard time deciding between the Roadtrip and the larger heavier GlobeTrotter. In the end I bought the Roadtrip because it is one pound lighter and I have no camera or lenses that would, when combined, exceed the 17 pound plus capacity of the tripod. Not even close.  Materials and Construction- The tripod seems well made

 That’s about my only complaint on the materials. The ball head is very nicely made and machined. There is a tension control for panning and although this tripod is not designed for video, you could do an occasional pan quite smoothly. All if this is in a sub 4 pound package

 The dual-position leg locks allow for both high and low shots. These actually came in handy when I needed the tripod right up against a half-wall; I was able to extend two legs and set the third leg on top of the half-wall. The stem can also be mounted upside-down if you need to get even lower to the ground. The accessory hook lets you weigh it down for added stability

  My one gripe is that when in the stow position (folded *up*) the legs aren't locked in place, so they *can* swing out even though the hinge isn't exactly loose. Thankfully it does come with a tote bag, but it's a little more cumbersome if you decide to carry it around bare. Larger camera bags usually have lashes specifically for tripods so this may alleviate the issue.  I've always said that if you are buying a camera anywhere above the $1000 price point, don't buy cheap tripods to hold them

You cannot go wrong with this tripod.  I have been using mine for several years and have yet to feel the need to buy something different.  The leg extension locks are very secure, yet easy to dis- and re-engage with one hand. This makes for quick setups and packs up quickly

Amazing tripod - sturdy, functional, and versatile.

 Setting up the tripod is very easy and quick; just make a 1/4 twist on the leg and extend all the segments; tighten each segment with 1/4 twist 3. Height of tripod is very nice for a taller person, such as myself (6'4") 4. There is a spring loaded hook in the center pole that allows for weigh attachment for rock solid platform 5. The head is where the 5 star rating fell off

 There are a number of reviews on YouTube videos on this tripod; check them out for more complete findings. Here are my experiences: 1. The MeFOTO folds up into a very compact package; it comes in a well padded carrying bag with nice shoulder strap. The first thing I noticed after taking it out of the box is how sturdy the tripod felt, and the stability after it was setup

 Anyway, I am keeping it because there's probably nothing else lighter that's also a full and stable tripod. I also use it for the RX-100 M3. Overkill for using such a large tripod for a small camera? Not quite. I use one of the legs as a monopod selfie-stick, and the RX-100 M3 is a great selfie camera :)

 Before this, I was using the JOBY Gorillapod Hybrid, but it was no longer cutting it. I can't always find a tree branch to wrap it into, hehe :) I can always lay the Gorillapod on the ground, but it's too low and I always end up with more of the floor in my pictures. With a full-size tripod, I can just lay it anywhere and get eye-level framing 100% of time. The most important thing for me, though, was weight

Heavier than I thought, but good enough.  I can finally be in the frame!

  I understand it's not a high end Gitzo or RRS, but at $200 it still shouldn't fall apart on the second use.  Update: Contacted customer service, and ended up emailing them a photo of the broken piece. The rep asked for my mailing address, and the replacement parts arrived a few days later through UPS. Quick 5 minute fix, and the tripod is as good as new
