Manfrotto Element MII Series at Beautiful Lake Powell, Utah ...

The 32mm is great for headshots and some pseudo macro photography and the image quality is comparable to my most expensive Sony lenses worth four times more.

I wanted to see if any of you have recs for a really powerful point and shoot camera? Or just a tiny camera with a solid retractable lens? I have been considering buying the Sony a7iii or the new Canon, but upon holding them both, realized I am really looking for something small enough to have with me all the time. I think either of these cameras could maybe fit the bill with a small prime lens, but I don't want to be limited to the fixed length. They are both also quite bit more than I would ideally be spending.

Back in like 2009/10/11 I had the canon G9 and then G12 and I absolutely loved them. I felt like they produced higher quality images than the consumer point and shoots of the time (people weren't really using iPhones for everything at this point) but without the bulk of the DSLRs that were becoming popular. And it was small enough to have with me all the time. And I found the little retractable lenses on them to be beautiful.

I am looking for the contemporary version of this. I am not sure if there is even something like this that exists, or if it is just the iPhone 11/12's now. I have not upgraded so haven't tested out the 3 cameras. It is primarily for stills, but passable video quality would be nice.

I would be very grateful for any ideas on cameras or advice! Or if anyone has experience with the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III, as that looks like the most current in this line. Though I don't know how it holds up to its predecessors.

Professional grade point and shoot?

the canon 4000D is a joke, its old tech crippled and remarketed, you can get a better camera for the same price such as a canon 60D or 650D however, the m50 mii is miles better than the two cameras, only thing you are missing out on is battery life and all the advantages is on justthegrimm's comment. i suggest you splash for the m50, dont have budget? save alittle more, its really worth all that money, plus overall its a smaller kit and effortless to carry around and shoot with

Canon EOS 4000D OR M50 mark ii?

 Hi my name is Stuart Forster and today I'm going to show you the Manfrotto Element MII tripod that stands for the Made in Italy or the Mark II because this is an upgrade to the Manfrotto Element range. So as you can see I've got the bag on my shoulder there the tripod comes with this carrying bag it's got a drawstring which closes the bag and it is incredibly easy to set up the tripod which is just about 42 and a half centimeters long when it's packed down. It weighs 1.55 kilograms so it's nice and light that makes it an ideal tripod for travel

 When it first showed up, I didn't realize what it was. The box was small, like way too small for me to think that it held a monopod, and that brings me to the first point on this piece of gear, and maybe the biggest selling point. It's compact. For anyone who is looking to travel light, this absolutely fits the bill

 I've been using this since it showed up about a month or so ago, and I've come to the conclusion that it does what it's designed to do, and it does it very well. And that's what I think is important to take away from this. If you're looking for the be-all-end-all-only monopod you'll ever need, this probably isn't it. And unless you do an extremely narrow range of work, that be-all-end-all doesn't really exist

 How do I explain this? Some other monopods that I have used have had some type of tapered threaded lock thing at the bottom, and you can tighten that down to keep the monopod plumb. There's nothing like that here, but in using this monopod, I didn't miss having those options. I've been using this since it showed up about a month or so ago, and I've come to the conclusion that it does what it's designed to do, and it does it very well. And that's what I think is important to take away from this

 The goal here was to create a light and compact but capable support system, which, as I mentioned at the beginning of this video, means design trade-offs had to be made. And in my opinion, those trade-offs have been managed really well on this unit. It's very well suited to anything in the travel category where keeping size and weight to a minimum are a big deal. For macro work, where you need that extra stability, I found it really helped to minimize camera movement while not getting in the way

 If you're looking for the be-all-end-all-only monopod you'll ever need, this probably isn't it. And unless you do an extremely narrow range of work, that be-all-end-all doesn't really exist. If you're shopping for a travel tripod on a budget, it'd be hard to top the TYCKA Rangers 56" Compact Travel Tripod. Not only is the TYCKA affordable, but it's also light making it ideal for backpacking or other adventures during which every ounce counts. Despite its featherlight weight, we were impressed to learn that the TYCKA is rated to support 26.5 pounds. This model also offers some bonus features such as a bubble level, angle marks for panning, and comfortable rubber grips. It's also nice that this model easily converts to a monopod for those instances where you don't require all three legs' maximum stability. 
We did find a few flaws while testing the TYCKA. The leg closure levers do not have adjustable tension, so they will likely wear out over time. We didn't find the panning action on this device to be particularly smooth &mdash; if you're going to be shooting video, you may want to go with a more stable model. The all-metal construction is nice, but when our TYCKA arrived, the tension knob was seized open. We were able to pry it loose with a pair of pliers, but it could have been a serious bummer if we didn't have tools readily available. Despite the drawbacks, we still think that this model is ideal for those looking for a light and affordable travel tripod that can support a lot of weight.

 For reference, I shoot with a Canon 5D IV with attached battery pack and a 28-70 L 2.8 II or 70-200 L 2.8 II lens.  THE GOOD: On the whole, this thing is fairly sturdy

 I simply shoot panoramas by sight because I find the ring too unreliable.  OVERALL: For $60, I'm not going to complain too much about this tripod, and as a travel tripod it's an awesome product at this price points. It's shortcomings aside, I'm still going to keep this thing in my bag, though I will be on the lookout for a sturdier - and more expensive - tripod in the future. It's reasonably well-built, sturdy, and gets the job done

 But maybe that is why it isn't sturdy enough. I have a mid range DSLR and using it on the tripod at full height, it does not feel stable enough. It wobbles slightly when controlling the camera.  The ball head has two knobs to loosen/tighten it which can make it a bit confusing

 But my main complaint is how the ballhead can unscrew when you're trying just to pan the ball head around its axis.  Despite it's flaws, it's good enough for the price.

Excellent tripod for the price. Light and gets compact enough to carry around in a bagpack. But maybe that is why it isn't sturdy enough. I have a mid range DSLR and using it on the tripod at full height, it does not feel stable enough

 Once opened and locked, mine stays where I put it with no swaying or sag. The leg hinges are tight which concerns me they may break themselves down over time. But so far, it’s only good.  Cam locks on the extensions work well

 They feel a little cheap, but function with no issues. If it holds up, I like it.  Just okay: The head. For what the whole unit cost, it’s good

  This is not a high-end professional tripod. It’s a good packable model at a very good price point.  The Good: Solid. It’s actually quite solid and stable

So let’s get to what it is and what it isn’t. I read reviews about this tripod being too short. It tells in the description exactly what height it is. Others referring to it not being on par with tripods that cost four to six times more

Good value

 You won't want to raise that center column any more than that (see below) - You can't rely on the 2nd extension of the center column, it is quite wobbly (which compounds the height problem) - The feet are not removable, so when you use the monopod, you can't attach a mini tripod foot to it (so if you were planning on it, forget it) - I tried to remove the plate from the ball to put a manfrotto quick release plate like this one (Manfrotto 323 RC2 Rapid Connect Adapter with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate - Replaces 3299-Black ) on it, but the screw would not come out of the ball head. (So I just mounted the plate on the other plate like a crazy person) - You probably could spend more to get a slimmer, and lighter tripod  Conclusion: While there are some issues, you can't deny that for $60 this is a steal. It probably won't be THE solution you were looking for in a tripod, but it checks most of the boxes. The head is actually really great, if you were planning on trying to get a Manfrotto so that you can use their quick-release plates, don't do it

 - Folds down small enough to fit in the side pocket of my Peak Design Everyday Backpack  Cons: - The tripod is a little short (I included some pictures compared to a standard door). I'm 5'9" and with the center column dropped, the camera will be at my belly button, with the main center column up, it will reach my chest. Not the best tripod, but maybe the BEST value tripod

 So I searched and searched, bought a number online and returned them, and at $53 I thought that this was just going to be more of the same. Boy was I wrong.  First off this is the smallest tripod that I have found and what I like about it is that it easily connects to the side of my bag and I can go. There is no need to strap it in some crazy manner and try to figure out if there are enough straps and there is nothing that feels clunky once it is on the bag

Best purchase a landscape photographer I have made

 I took it to Alaska about 2 years ago and it being so lightweight and versatile made taking pics and video effortless.  If you're looking for a tripod that can hold up over the years with some abuse, this is it.  After using this regularly for almost 2 years for video as well as photography, here are a few notes that I would suggest the manufacturer look at for the future models:  - The foam grip eventually ripped and I tossed it. I would be nice if it had lasted longer, it was a removable foam grip, or there was a replacement available for it

 It is (I think) supposed to be used as addition stabilization when using the tripod as a monopod.

  After using this regularly for almost 2 years for video as well as photography, here are a few notes that I would suggest the manufacturer look at for the future models:  - The foam grip eventually ripped and I tossed it. I would be nice if it had lasted longer, it was a removable foam grip, or there was a replacement available for it.  - The bottom sandbag holder gripper thingy keeps rotating off and I'm constantly paranoid that I'll end up losing it.  - The rubberized knobs for the ball head are lose and sometimes slip while I am tightening them

I love this tripod.

 So I had to wait till the wind slow down and then resume shooting. I was using 24-70mm lens with canon 6D, so it's heavier than the tripod. It wasn't a real bummer for me as I have read the reviews and someone mentioned a similar issue. Well, anything lightweight is bound to shake a little against the wind

 Product arrived on time with no damage and seems to be made of good quality material. I brought it on a trip and took lots of pictures with it. It's light, so carrying it around town for hours wasn't a big deal and set up was really easy, so moving it from one spot to the next was not a problem either. What I like the most is that it's compact and it fit nicely on the side strap of my backpack bag
