This pack is far better for everyday/trail than Ospreys other everyday do everything packs. It has pole attachments, H20 access, hip belt I can attach a pocket too later. The frame is more suitable to everyday, it isn't huge like the Paladin. It can be easily carried day in day out

 You can fit a small laptop in the hydration sleeve, but you would need to be careful as the sleeve does concave to meet the needs of the frame. Osprey has the best suspensions in the world, i don't know why they have to nickel and dime people with inexpensive materials and no pockets. It really gets old. I don't know if I will keep this bag becuase of the lack of the stretch mesh material on the large front pocket

 My other Osprey packs on another two of them. These just snap right back and the material feels heavier. That's my first complaint and this is only a 32 ounce in the Sierras When I go hiking I Like to bring the taller ones the 48 ounces and those aren't tall enough to hit the other compression straps, so this is just a nightmare trying to even carry them. This is nice and all but would have been nicer if this was actually elastic so it has some kind of you know give to it. The only way that you can tighten this is with the actual compression straps

OSPREY HIKELITE 26 PACK REVIEW - ITS NOT PERFECT

 And because this has this facility with the straps on the outside and you can open this right out, it'll bellows right out. So you get some pretty bulky things down here. So there you've got a great big pocket on the front controlled by these straps with the fast X buckle. There also act to compress, so if you're not gay anything in the pack, what's half empty and you pull these straps in, it has the effect of pulling this front panel into the bag to really compress the load

 This will allow air to circulate drying you off quicker. So when you do sweat, you just feel a little bit more comfortable and it also gives the bag a little bit of spring a little bit of Bounce making it really comfortable. if you're doing some trout running or if you're mountain biking all the contact areas. there's lovely bright yellow fabric which clashes beautifully with my Mountain Equipment top I made from a really nice soft breathing mesh fabric with some light foam padding

 Talking to the shoulder straps, you can see here that they're they're built onto a yoke system, so there's a continuous piece of material that runs through here that sits nicely on your back. And the best way to wear these kind of packs is with them slightly lower. so your shoulders would be a little higher than the top of the pack, so you just have your shoulders slightly higher - in my hand, is here. you've got a nice compression strap on there just to hold it all in place

Inside Look: Osprey Hikelite 26

 a larger backpack, but it's a small daypack. 18 liters and that's a good thing to have. It does have removable, uh, waist strap on it. It's not a belt, it's really a strap, but you could remove it right here if you wanted to

 but that's a two to three liter water bot. Uh, water reservoirs will work great inside that. um, zip that up on the sides here. We do have some side compression straps on each side and those work good just to cinch your load down

 the Hike Light 18. It is a really good feel to this pack. It's really well built. It does have the Osprey guarantee, which is a lifetime guarantee any product for any reason from any error, they'll return it, replace it, and fix it and make sure you're happy if anything goes awry with it

 There's also a whistle on the sternum strap here. surprisingly loud for how small it is and that will adjust up and down somewhat limited. It's actually limited to this this space here, which is fine. You really want to keep it right across, literally across your sternum and that's why it's called a sternum strap

Osprey Hikelite 18 DAY PACK Review

The pack seems nice but with the straps all the way out the hip belt is still too high and sternum strap comes across my windpipe.  Ditching the hip belt could work but then why stay at this price point.

I don't usually write reviews, but it looks like this daypack is suffering from a lack of them! 

Over all, mighty pleased with this pack as a flexible commuter option that easily works for day hikes. If it wears out quickly, this review will be adjusted.

I've been using this for a couple of months now, mainly on my daily commute to work by bike or train. Plenty of room for lunch, a thermos, water bottle, spare set of clothes for the gym, and climbing shoes/chalk bag. I like that the mesh pockets on the sides aren't strictly tight for the use of water bottles; tossing a carabiner on my water bottle keeps it from falling out and the other pocket has enough space to jam a chalk bag in. 

Solid daily pack

So let me first start off by saying that the reason this bag only gets 4 stars is because of the organization. They only give you 3 zippered compartments. The main, the small on on the top maybe large enough for a phone or eye glass case then the one on the bottom for the rain guard if you should even count that. I understand that this is a hiking bag but why not give us a large ziped compartment on the front where we can put some small things or atleast some internal zip pouch that can be used for things like passports

Side pockets are practically useless. That’s a deal breaker for me, but I can’t return it. 15 inch laptop JUST fits. I miss my old backpack tbh

 It needs another small zippered pouch on the front. Most backpacks that I've had have three zippered compartments going from small to large. This has only two. I miss that small front one where I usually put my keys and phone

 I like that this pack can handle excess weight such as when you have excess food or water in the pack. If I got another pack I would definitely choose one that offers a similar feature.

**Overview**: This is long term review of the Zpacks Arc Blast. I got this pack as a Christmas gift in 2018. I've used it for hundreds of miles and at least a dozen trips. I was not involved in the customer service or ordering of the pack other than I asked for it for Christmas and was under the tree in time for Christmas

The pack has proven itself to be durable under bad bushwhacking conditions. I have scraped it pretty badly on trees and brush and only the outer polyester layer of fabric has [punctured or torn]([URL REMOVED] The inner layer of DCF is unscathed. Under general scratchy scraping through brush there is no damage whatsoever.

- ZPacks Arc Blast - Sort of unbeatable for the frame comfort at the weight. Genuinely waterproof. Pricey. I don't own one, but I've tried it on for half a day to feel it out

 In case you want to hear what "waterproof" really means; I'll tell you, it's this, not something that requires a rainfly - I've taken this pack through its paces on really demanding long trips, including one that required ~50 river crossings in about 3 days and I've left it outside my bivy overnight in drenching rainstorms. Never had wet gear. I think it holds weight well and undersells the interior space because you can extend the roll-top.

 Pricey. I don't own one, but I've tried it on for half a day to feel it out. Reminds me a bit of the airflow on my Exos frame. The DCF is thin, but if you're not putting serious thru-hiking miles on it, you probably won't have durability issues

Right now I'm between the Mariposa 60 Backpack, 40-60L Sierra Designs Flux Capacitor, or Osprey Atmos 50 or 60 but I'm open for other considerations. Max capacity around 60L and max weight of 5 pounds (ideally around 3 pound mark). I'm looking for something with decent exterior pockets including hip pockets and easy access pockets/mounts for bear spray. I've been trying to minimize gear weight to make the weight of my camera gear more manageable but if a pack can make a load more comfortable then that would be okay too. This pack would be for multi-day trips through significant elevation changes. Water resistance out of the box would be favorable too. I'm also slightly below the average male height in the US for size considerations. If you have any experience with these packs or have another you'd recommend that would be great.

Looking to Upgrade Pack

On paper, this pack still won out. Weight, load carry capacity, variable torso length and hipbelt size, cuben fiber qualities(weight, waterproof, durability), ventilated back panel are all key features that in conjunction with eachother make this pack stand out against the rest. 

The ventilated mesh back panel is a must for me. I'm in Southern California so prevention of lava back is a big deal. If you're in a colder climate, then I can see how this isn't important. If I am hiking in winter then I'm taking my Xenith 75 where I have to carry more weight and back sweat isn't an issue (I'd never take this in warm weather)

 I've noticed that the pack is more stable downhill from this change. The main thing is being able to access items while hiking. Things move down so things I used to put in the hood I put in the side pockets, more sensitive items I put in the hipbelts.
