I only gave it three stars because the laptop compartment curves so drastically that the corners of my laptop bump the zipper, it is really tight to get things in and out of it. I found the straps very uncomfortable, and the bottom of the pack dug into my back. I also found the bag would fall over when the top pocket was full, and the side pouches were not very secure.

You would think a backpack with a laptop sleeve would fit a laptop. The description does not say what size laptops will fit, and the curved zipper on top lessens the amount of space, so a 17" laptop does not fit. Also it only comes in this size or smaller, they should make a larger size as well. Loved everything else about the backpack though, but had to return because of the laptop sleeve dimensions

I have recently purchased the north face borealis and can recommend it. It carries a 15" laptop plus all accesories i might need; the back plate provides good ventilation as well.

Those other backpacks just never sat right. TNF Women's backpacks are designed for a female frame, not for the Incredible Hulk, and I sure appreciate it! The volume may be slightly less, but I can carry more weight in the TNF Women's Recon than in other standard-sized packs, because the weight is distributed where it needs to be. Women who are lucky enough to have broader shoulders or a long torso can go shop in the Men's section if that's what fits them, but I am so grateful that this sizing exists for folks like me. Thank you! A final word, I liked the distribution of pockets in the old Recon better than this new version

I currently have a North face borealis classic backpack, it's roughly 4 years old, and am finding it too small for day to day use with work.
