Best of all, it really is quiet! I can toss and turn to my heart's content without fear of waking up my camp mates and being obnoxiously loud all night. I have the Big Agnes Qcore something or other (yellow, 4" thick, super light, rolls up about half the size of this one) but it is soooo loud. So when that thing got a hole recently I set out to look for a slightly larger (though not thicker, but that's actually fine - this one is thick enough to be very comfy) and much quieter pad. So far, so good

Definitely large and heavy, so not for backpacking, but it's a permanent part of the car camping gear! Inflating takes a while if you do it manually, but worth it for a good night's sleep.

Let me start by saying i used this for backpacking in ultralight on a 3 day hike in for elk hunting. Like most people stated its a little noisy but i was going for high R value and this pad was great for that. Now let me just tell you if your over 5'10 and your tent will fit it get the large. I am 6'2 and 195 and pad was ok but would not think about getting anything smaller

I'm giving it 90% chance that when this pad breaks, that'll be where it breaks. Just through normal usage I can already tell that that little corner gets a lot bending and rubbing, and I strongly feel it should be more rounded, or have a flexible rubber or something similar as an intermediate material between the sharp hard plastic and the thin pad membrane. At least Thermarest has good customer service so if/when it does break there, I'm guessing they'll take care of it.

Not a deal-breaker if you can just leave it inflated for, say, a week straight. But if you plan to move camps each day look elsewhere so that you can spend your time camping instead of inflating your pad.

My husband had a very restful, comfortable night, though. I was skeptical of the inflation method which requires you to scoop & force air into the mattress using a nylon bag attachment, but it didn't take long at all to inflate, and no batteries required! The only negative is the price. If it were more reasonably priced, we would have two by now.

This thing FINALLY lets me sleep on my side without my hips feeling bruised the next day. Even with the “pump bag” it’s still a bit of a headache to inflate, but it’s not a big deal. Definitely a price I’m happy to pay to finally sleep well!
