Benchmade Bugout 535 vs Victorinox Swiss Classic Paring Knife

Love my Benchmade knives. Axis lock is great. Tolerances on mine have all been really good. 940 Osborne, 555 Minigrip (Pardue), 15080 Crooked River, 535 Bugout… all great EDC

Don't waste your money on anything more expensive than $10 because with the amount you'll be using these, like David Chang (famous chef) said, you'll go through them.

My issues are numerous so this will seem like a negative review but it is what it is. I have pretty normal sized hands, wearing gloves in the L and XL sizes depending. I find the handle of this knife is thin and narrow which in pocket are great but in use make it uncomfortable to grip well and extended use can cause cramps and soreness in my hands. Additionally there is no discernible effort to give the user traction

I’d recommend sticking to the 3.25” I don’t know what ergonomic principle they were following with the handle. It is thin, hard plastic. The bolster extends past the edge, making it less nimble

The actual knife blade, where it travels and slides along the barrel below the pivot was EXTREMELY rough when I purchased it. I have been using it and wondering why it always felt like it was full of sand. So I finally decided to take it apart to figure it out and yeah. Flat spots worn into the barrel and the very hard steel of the knife was unpolished and rough

Disclaimer: Not a normal review, this is a vegetable knife, but also a very versatile butcher knife! If you are queasy, or anti-hunting/meat - probably not the best for you to read so avert your squimish little eyes, por favor. As an avid hunter/outdoorsman who processes their own game instead of taking it to a butcher, finding the right, no, perfect tools for the job make it much more pleasing and satisfying. If you don't like reading, let me just tell you right now, buy this knife; I have tried so many types of knives for processing deer and this is the best one hands down! During the 2020 hunting season I went to the butcher with a friend and noticed that ALL the butcher hands were prefering to using this knife and I mean they USED them. They struck bone, they dropped on the concrete, they were stepped on and tossed into a bin, they were abused

Only reason I am giving this knife a 4 out of 5 star is because the price and name. For 120$ you'd expect more from Benchmade the quality is still superb and above all other knives in my opinion, but for $120 you'd expect more from this knife. My other dissatisfaction is the name it should be called the EDC 535 not the Bugout 535. To some this really doesn't matter to others it might I'm just adding that in the review
