So if you're anything like me, you're always looking for a bargain on whatever it is that you're trying to get. In this case, I'm going to be talking about a 240 Hertz one millisecond response time monitor. this is the Acer brand I I'll post it right up here I Can't tell you what the entire model number is, but it is a 240 Hertz monitor that you can get for around 240 to 280 dollars and most 240 Hertz monitors will run you at least 350 and ranging all the way up to 500 if you get the G sync supported monitor. Now why is why is this monitor so CH so much cheaper than other monitors that are 240 Hertz The answer is it's pretty simple

Tech Support and Basic Questions Thread - July 30, 2020

Troublesome, not reliable

 This monitor is the Xf 250q by Acer. It is 24 and a half inches and it has freesync, one Ms response time, and 240 Hertz. So today I'll be doing a review on this monitor. Let's get right into it

Good for the price but spend a bit more and get something much better!

Why do we have to just settle and compromise image quality for a smoother picture, you can have both but we never get it. So I own the LG 27GN850, Samsung Odyssey G7 and FI27Q.  All 3 have what I'd consider good image quality FOR a gaming monitor once calibrated. I recently bought an LG27UL600, just a standard 4k monitor designed for just all around use. I bought it because my son uses the 4k QLED, missus uses the OLED while I game etc so wanted a second screen to use while the other panels are in use.

This monitor cost me £300 and it is leagues ahead of all my other gaming displays when it comes to picture quality. Leaving sharpness out of it, the image is more uniform, it has higher contrast than the gaming LG's calibrated out of the box, look quite good, the screen coating isn't overly grainy unlike 99% of gaming screens, no silly P3 with lack of good sRGB mode making video games look like rainbow road.

If a fairly cheapo monitor can achieve what I'd say is quite good image quality in general, not just for a monitor why can't we just have that in gaming screens? There isn't one gaming monitor which I can say is good all around, not just for a monitor. We just settle, worst thing is, they don't care, they want higher refresh rate, more features, the majority of uses do not care, how many people are pro gamers that will benefit? none. Yeah 240hz is smoother, but I'm not any better at gaming because of it, I can easily learn 60hz and be consistent still.

The fact I've had to switch over do what is essentially an office monitor for decent image quality just goes to show how much gamer focused companies don't care about the overall viewing experience. My £2000 gaming rig has to be viewed from a gaming monitor with poor image quality, no thanks if I'm going to have all this power, it needs to look good. Stop thinking competitive gamers are your only market, they're not. It's no wonder people are switching over to gaming TV's now.

Sick of gaming monitors image quality.

  However, knowing that I'm not running at the advertised response time takes away from my satisfaction and I am planning to return the product.

 There is definitely more input lag involved in this than the difference between refresh and response rate alone, so this monitor somehow shaves off around 40ms. That may not seem much, but this advantage is tangible in-game where in a time-to-kill of 170ms, reacting 40ms faster than before means getting a bullet faster.  However, knowing that I'm not running at the advertised response time takes away from my satisfaction and I am planning to return the product.

Frameskips without G-Sync, but with G-Sync response time is not 1ms
