 I bought this to replace my cheap low wattage, albeit 10 year old, blender that shorted and blew on me while using it. This All-Clad immersion blender has so much power I swear I could strap it to my back and take off! This thing is sexy as hell too! No cheap plastic one piece blender. The bottom blender part comes apart from the motor for easy washing. The motor has so many speed variables with the speed dial on top as well as the turbo setting on the button

Good but not powerful enough

 What's up everyone? Welcome back to Tontide, this is your host, Donnie and today we'll be unboxing this all clad hand blender and this is a pretty much a different type of blender. It replaces the traditional ones with a two whisk on it where you would just, when you're blending things it doesn't fly all over the place, it's like an immersion blender. So this bottom just goes into the ingredients and just blends it for you without making a huge mess. So I saw this on sale and decided to give it a try and add to my many kitchen tools that I have

Great blender but head is too large which makes it a poor choice for blending small amounts

 Egg yolks and oil are the basic ingredients of mayonnaise. We're going to let that settle for a second. All right, so we're going to put the immersion blender inside, all the way to the bottom, not to turn it on yet, I'm going to set it to a medium speed, I'm going to pulse it a couple of times to get it going, and then I'm going to let it run. You can see the mayonnaise starting to form

 Now moving the immersion blender up and down to incorporate all the ingredients evenly. You don't want to run this for more than a minute at a time because the engine will tend to overheat a little bit and you don't want to burn out your motor. All right, that's great. There you have it

 We're going to demonstrate how to make a basic homemade mayonnaise using the All-Clad Variable Speed Immersion Blender. Very powerful but there's an electronic burning smell when I run it. It has not died on me yet and I use it several times a week (+6 months now) but the smell makes me paranoid about overusing it! Also, the sealant on the shaft end isn't really done that well so food gets stuck in the gaps and makes it difficult to clean.  Lastly, the whisk attachment is way too pricey and looks like a cheaply made accessory (supported by the reviews). I knew this going in but this was the only immersion blender that gave me the power and quality I wanted so I had to compromise! Just pointed this out because I've been waiting for the price on that attachment to drop from $38 and it doesn't look like it will ever happen!
