 It was the relief that came from knowing that I was about to read a book on a device built just for that purpose and on busy weeks like this one, That intentional limitation alone can be worth the price of admission. Now, don't misunderstand. this is not some woo-woo new age embrace of radical intentionality or anything like that. The paperwhite is the mid-range option, and while I've really lost interest in that category when it comes to phones where E-readers are concerned, I think the mid-range is probably the sweet spot. The new software that came to Kindles this year is also excellent

 For those who know that what they want is a dedicated e-paper e-reader then in my book, the Kindle continues to be the gold standard in that department, and as I said, at the top, the most comfortable one I've encountered yet is the paperwhite. The standard model starts at about 140, and if you want more storage, wireless charging, and a backlight that automatically adjusts, add about 50 to it. For the signature edition, I think most folks will probably be able to make do with the base model paper white, but either way, if E-paper is what you need, then whether it's 140 or 190, well, that paper is well spent. Thoughts on getting a kindle?

 If you are holding it with one hand, which I do most of the time, it is easy to inadvertently brush the screen which results is a page turn you didn’t want. At that point you just feel lucky if it only advanced a single page. My old Kindle 3 is a bit larger and a few ounces heavier but I find it much more comfortable to hold in one hand, especially with the page buttons. The Paperwhite really needs a screen sensitivity option

 Big mistake.  One of the biggest differences is supposed to be the improved screen resolution. That might be the case for illustrations, magazines, or comics, but I don’t use a Kindle tor that. I could not see any significant improvement when it came to books

My Paperwhite Is A Vampire

 so if you're on the go, audible can help you pick up where you left off and then a book is not water resistant or brings a backlight or can switch to a dark mode or allows you to make the text larger or smaller. And then a book doesn't bring a built-in dictionary, nor lets you filter highlights, etc, etc. etc. And then, for those of you that argue that your phone or your tablet can perform Kindle functions, that's also sort of true

 Surely, I know many of you still love the smell of paper and the feel of a regular book, but that would be a huge oversimplification of what a Kindle can do. and their latest model is out to prove just that. This is the new Kindle paperwhite. a pretty overdue update to their 2018 model and what I'd call the most ambitious change that Amazon has brought to these devices, even if you won't be able to tell that very easily

I will be in the field with minimal access to the outside world and internet, the nearest town is well over 20 km away and only has a population of 200. I will be there from September to December, and **I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for hobbies to bring?** My typical hobbies include mountain biking, baking, and skiing (none of which are accessible where I will be) I very casually draw, haven't played guitar since I was about 12 (and it seems a bit bulky to bring anyways), and I can't pack a 3 month supply of books considering it would be wayyy to heavy and bulky to bring along so many. I really am open to any suggestions and just general advice!

Best Activities for Long Term Field Camp

  I bought one of the original Kindle Fire versions and the first Kindle Fire HD. They were cool, but I didn't end up using them much. They didn't have good battery life, they were hard to read outdoors, and Kindle software on other portable devices was fine. I think the first one eventually failed, and I gave the HD away to someone who needed to do something that required a Kindle

OK, I fouled up with my Kindle Paperwhite 11th edition purchase. It was Prime Day and the Kindle was marked WAY DOWN, and I opted for the bundle: Kindle + Charger + fabric cover. Now don't get me wrong, the Charger is nice and the fabric cover is very nice, but for a device Amazon says you only need to charge 5 times a year, getting a premium charger doesn't really make much sense. I already have plenty of chargers, and the Kindle will charge overnight whether I use their super-fast premium charger or something else
