The Ryzen 7 5700u is an iteration of the 5700x, the u defines that the processor has a lower thermal power design (TDP). That means it will it will consume less energy than the x version and therefore produce less heat, which is generally a good thing for a laptop. The CPU has 8 cores running at 1.8GHz base clock, which can boost to 4.3GHz.

However, I was willing to pay a little more for an all metal/glass finish and it has one of the latest 8 core Ryzen CPUs. I was torn on this laptop vs the M1 Macbook. However, I feel like I made the right choice as having the additional ports, and larger program compatibility definitely feel more useful. I will probably upgrade the RAM within the next year to 16GB and might upgrade the SSD if my school files end up being bigger than expected.

I am not sure but I know that my last MacBook Air with i3 (11.gen) run’s crazy when recorded something longer that 30 minutes and the lecture last 90 minutes so you can imagine it🥵.

The keyboard is superb, and the touchpad and nipple are great. The laptop feels exceptionally solid, and looks very nice. The Ryzen 7 5700U is an absolute unit, compared to my previous machine, and is on par with my dad's i5-9600K desktop.
