 So yeah, taking the TDP up on that 6800U definitely helps out, it's gonna allow us to have higher clocks on the CPU and the GPU, I know a lot of people probably won't do this, and 35 watts on this does work out really well, but I wanted to max it out at least with what I have right now and see what it could do. And when it comes to the handhelds powered by this chip, we're not gonna be running it at this kind of wattage, now in dock mode I'd say 30 watts would be fine with some of the coolers that I've seen so far on these handhelds powered by the same APU, but where this is gonna come in handy is when the mini PCs are released with the 6600U and the 6800U. They'll definitely have beefier coolers than some of the handhelds that are gonna be released, so running those at a higher TDP is gonna be totally possible. But that's gonna wrap it up for this one, I really appreciate you watching, if you have any questions or you wanna see anything else running on the 6600U or the 6800U just let me know in the comments below, and like always, thanks for watching!

 And when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077, even though we're running this at a higher TDP, we still need to use FSR. So right now it's balanced, we're at 1080p medium settings, and we can run this at 60, every once in a while I do see it dip down, but I gotta say this is some really great performance for integrated graphics, especially for this game here. If you've tried to run this on your main PC, you know exactly what I'm talking about, this can be a hard one to run. Here's Doom Eternal, 1080p, medium settings, no resolution scale, and we're right there on the edge, so you might want to drop some of these settings down to low, and with a few of those swapped over you can get a constant 60 out of it, or if you don't mind playing this at low, you can get an average of 76 FPS at low settings, 1080p with this game

 But with this laptop here, the max I can go is 51 watts and it's due to VRM limitations. But this is something I've been wanting to do and I've actually had a few people asking about maxing out the TDP on this, so let's go ahead and jump right into it. It's definitely not conventional with this cooler strapped to the bottom of it, but it's not permanent. I can take it off and it does work

 So what I have here is the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s Gen 4, I recently did a video on it, and the built-in cooler here actually does a pretty good job keeping this 6800U cool at around 35 watts, that's about the max. And at 35 watts with that new Radeon 680MI GPU based on RDNA2, this chip does absolutely amazing. But like I mentioned, we can only handle about 35 watts with this cooler in the laptop. Anything over that it thermal throttles pretty quickly

Modern games won't be super pleasant on any ultrabook packing hardware short of maybe a new 6800u with the RX680M or something with a MX450 (and, excepting an Asus Zenbook with 8gb of non-expandable memory, neither of those are in or near your price range as far as I can tell.). I haven't bothered to throw a SODIMM in the E14 yet, but judging from my experience with a 4600H it'll make a big difference and further accentuate the already fairly significant performance gap between Zen 2 and Kaby Lake.

What thinkpad do you guys recommend?

 Like I said, that's exactly what we have at hand to examine the performance of AMD's new 8-core Zen 3 Plus processor, the Asus ZenBook S13 OLED. We've already examined Zen 3 Plus Mobile in its 35W class Ryzen 9 6900HS form with the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, and that was a glowing success with the chip proven to be absolutely superb. So let's see if that outstanding performance and performance per watt translates well for the Ryzen 7 6800U in a market where such metrics are absolutely critical. We've already done a written article on AMD's Ryzen 6000 series mobile processors, so I'll try and keep the in-depth technical details quite light and just brush over the main points

 MediaTek slash AMD Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity is provided alongside a COMBORT 3.5mm audio jack. AMD's specifically targeted performance per watt and power efficiency is some of its pillars for Ryzen 6000 Mobile, and we see the dividends paying off with excellent battery life results from the Ryzen 7 6800U-powered Asus N-Book S13 OLED

 The area where AMD has really improved with Ryzen 6000 Mobile though is the integrated GPU. Now deploying RDNA2 based cores, the performance improvement versus the Vega based Ryzen 7 5800U predecessor is sizeable, and that performance uplift is actually useful because it takes some popular games from unplayable at 1080p to perfectly enjoyable at the go-to resolution. That's a big deal on a 15-28W class of processor inside a slim notebook. The most notable downside that I personally see with the Ryzen 7 6800U is that its media consumption capabilities are still not as good as they probably should be in my opinion

 Nevertheless, over 11 hours of runtime from a 2.8K screened ultraportable is exceptionally good. That's a full working or university day from the 67Wh battery, plus some messing around time for the commute, so AMD's power efficiency improvements for Ryzen 6000 Mobile look to have worked. There's plenty to like with the Asus ZenBook S13 OLED, and that's simply because it combines premium components with the real star of the show, AMD's Ryzen 7 6800U processor

 By the end of this run, I had an average of 47 FPS according to Afterburner. The game still feels pretty good like this, and just like a lot of the other newer games that I tested in this video, taking the resolution down doesn't help much because we're only at 30 watts with this APU. And I've been doing a lot of testing the last few days on this chip, and what I've found is the iGPU alone, the 680M, can pull up to 30 watts all by itself. I've got a render test going here, and this is not shared with the CPU

 Here's Halo Infinite, 1080p low, and in my experience on these Ryzen APUs with this game here so far, this is a real CPU hog. Obviously, the way everything's set up right now, we're not going to hit 60 FPS with it, but this would be actually a pretty decent experience just locking it at 30 and playing it like this. There are a few settings we could go up to medium with and still get a constant 30 out of this game. And the final game we're going to be testing for this video is Elden Ring at 1080p low

 It's not bad, but we are falling under 60, and even if I drop this down to 900p with FSR set to performance, we're around the same framerate, so what really this is telling me is we're kind of CPU bound here, because we can't get enough wattage to that CPU. We're under 3 GHz here, and it's really because we have to share that 30 watts between the GPU and CPU. Moving over to God of War, 1080p original settings with FSR set to quality. So I'm only getting an average of around 34 FPS, I thought it would be much better, and trying to drop this down even to 720p from 1080p with the same settings, it only ups the framerate by about 4 or 5 frames

 The laptop I'm running this on right now will only allow me to go up to 30 watts, and I suspect that a lot of manufacturers are going to be keeping it at 30 watts with these thinner, lighter laptops. This can put out more performance, but right now we're kind of stuck. It's a power struggle between the GPU and the CPU. But before we move on with some more testing, I do want to mention that this video is brought to you by URCD Keys

My actual requirements is that it needs to not blow a 15 amp fuse in a 12V system in a car. 15x12 is 180, but I'd like it to be nearer to 120 because of inefficiencies in power conversion.   


I'm wondering what the best type of graphics card can run in a 120W system? Maybe a USB C powered laptop would be a good idea.

Anyone have any good ideas on gaming laptops to get? 800-1200 would be great but I'm not afraid of going to 2k. I'm having trouble to find the wattage used on a lot of websites.

ZenBook s13 or Galaxy book 2 pro

Need a 2 in 1 laptop urgently for uni &amp; wanted to go for one of the 6800u laptops .

I think I've probably only seen 2-3 that exist currently and none are even in stock.

I wanted to go with the Lenovo Yoga 7 Gen 7 (14" AMD) but they don't even have the 6800u as a buy it now spec'd laptop unless you go to build your own &amp; their charge a premium for doing that which makes no sense not to mention its saying will take 5-6 weeks to get shipped.

There doesn't seem to be anything better within my budget of around £1000 &amp; comparing some of the other laptops specs to this makes no sense to get; either around the same price for worse specs or higher priced for marginally better or even the same specs.
