 Of course, the US versus other countries, it varies so much. It can be so expensive. I'm in Canada, so I get it to an extent, but same thing applies. Always want to find a deal relative to what's available

 I bought it when it launched, and used it for a full year until the iPhone 13 Pro released, at which point I made the switch. I loved my iPhone 12. It was a very straightforward, reliable, and premium experience, which is exactly what I want from a smartphone, and it came with all the modern commodities, with a nice display, a great camera, fast performance, and more than decent battery life. I'll, of course, be looking at all the typical review points of the phone a little later on, and the timestamps are in the description below, but for now, we do need to talk about value

com, the iPhone 12 seems to be going for around $500 to $600. $500 being about the lowest I've seen, a little under $500 in a couple cases. But for only a couple hundred dollars more, you can get the device brand new with a brand new battery. For me, that would be more worth it

 And the iPhone 13 hasn't necessarily been improved by a huge margin, but it is still a full year newer. It brings a slightly smaller notch, a newer chipset, and quite a bit better battery life. It's not worth saving only $100 for an iPhone 12 over the 13, and it's quite confusing to me why Apple lined up their pricings like this. Of course, these prices are the ones when you buy straight up unlocked from Apple, and going through a carrier with a plan of some sorts will likely change things significantly

iPhone 12 in 2022 - worth buying? (Review)

Verdict - Useful improvements

 Night mode will be better auto focus on fast moving subjects, super high dynamic range shots like shooting straight into the sun thanks to smart Hdr3 stuff like that. Other than that, it still looks like iphone photos, which is to say, some of the absolute best and most consistent crisp photos on any smartphone. So that's not a letdown. But iphone video, though firmly in a league of its own, it firmly like every time I test a new iphone camera, it's just the video camera is so much better and people care a lot about video

 this is a pretty familiar iphone. We've seen the rounded corners and the notch and the lightning port, but there are a couple key changes this year that are a first in the iphone. So I've been using this iphone 12 for a bit since my Impressions video, and it's my favorite iphone ever. mostly because of this design

 I love Hdr, but here's the thing. Dolby Vision is just one Hdr standard or format by Dolby, and there are other Hdr standards that have been out. You might heard of Hdr10 is one of them, and that some other smartphones have actually started enabling you to shoot. You might have a smartphone in your pocket right now that is already capable of shooting Hdr10 video, but the issue with new formats is always compatibility

 but even at that price, yeah, this phone with best in class cameras, best in class performance, much better. Screen is pretty damn good. It's this is the one to get for most people. Here's a too long didn't watch version

Just like every iPhone processor for the past however many years, the new A14 Bionic processor is very fast and it beats the pants off anything Qualcomm can make for an Android phone. But it's also true that the iPhone 11 is very fast

 So mainly what you get out of this new processor are those photo improvements. The real reason to care isn't that the iPhone 12 is fast now it's that it will still be fast in three or even five years. That's the kind of longevity that no Android phone can really match. As for the rest of iOS 14, what can I say? It's an iPhone

 There is a new processor in the iPhone 12 and guess what? I am switching over to iOS with the 12 Pro this year from the Pixel 4 XL. It's probably going to take me a while to get comfortable using it. It shouldn't be too hard transferring and syncing apps. One of the reasons is password management on iOS. All passwords are saved in the phone settings and can be easily viewed by using face unlock. With Android, I'm constantly forgetting passwords. And especially with the Pixel face unlock not supported on most apps, it becomes frustrating entering passwords. And I prefer stock Android so OnePlus and Samsung are out for me. 

With that being said, I will miss the recorder app, always listening for music and Android auto. But I'm looking forward to a more polished os where the hardware and software work together very well. 

I really had high hopes for Google last year and thought that the Pixel face unlock would be their answer for Apple's face id. But they pivoted away from it. Then with them not making a top of line flagship this year turned me off to them. I'm sure the Pixel 5 is a great device, but for how long and what will the 6 look like next year? Will they return to making a flagship and bring out some new feature that they abandon the very next year?  If they stuck with one big feature for more than one or two generations, they could compete with apple or Samsung.

I have an iPhone 12. If anyone has any questions I'd be glad to compare. I also have the Note 20 Ultra. I don't find the iPhone 12 cheap feeling at all. I've used a lot of phones over the last 5 years. I do find glass back phones slippery as shit. The Note20 Ultra is even slippier(sp?) than the iphone and  it feels a lot heavier, the sides on the iPhone 12 help a lot(flat sides not curved) with grip. Still would never use it caseless.

The one thing that I noticed about the iPhone 12 is the screen colors. Maybe its using the Note 20 Ultra for a month but I miss Samsungs crazy punchy colors. Used an Iphone 11 before that so I thought going from LCD to OLED it would be a lot punchier but its not as much of a change as I expected. As always build quality on the iPhone is top notch. So I can't agree that it feels cheap or the back feels like plastic at all. Sorry just in my opinion it doesn't.

I have the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro on hand and played with the Pixel 5 at the store today. Both iPhones easily have better build quality and a more premium feel. That being said, as good as they look, I'm not a fan of the squared edges because it makes them feel bigger in hand and more like a brick, especially the heavier Pro. I do like the edge to edge flat glass screen though, versus the 2.5d curve everything else uses.

Dollar for dollar, the iPhone 12 is the better buy over the Pixel 5. But regardless of build quality, price, etc, iPhone vs Pixel really comes down to your preference of OS first. I try iOS from time to time but I always come back to Android, so Pixel 5 it is for me.

Pixel 5 is lighter by around 10 grams mate, and yeah it also does feel lighter too. Though i agree with you too as I’m holding the iPhone 12 right now and it feels very light like no other iphones before

I changed my mind last minute when I saw the Apple keynote and sold my preorder Pixel 5 to buy the iPhone 12. 

Loads of my friends were buying the iPhones and the articles describing the Pixel 5 as a non-flagship bugged me, especially as I have the money nowadays to buy whatever phone I want. 

Ended up receiving the iPhone 12 and from the moment I opened it, I hated it. Even though it is as thin as the Pixel line (I'm coming from a Pixel 3) it felt so much bulkier. The sharper edges make the phone feel bigger in your hand, and the additional weight is noticeable in a very bad way. The experience of transferring my data into the iPhone was 100% crap, and incomplete- this was nothing like the process of going into Android, which had been so smooth a couple of years back. 

The next day I called Apple to return the iPhone, and bought a Pixel 5. I feel so much happier with this phone, and while I can say that the iPhone kicks it's ass on speaker quality and is a small bit snappier, the Pixel is so much better in way more important ways. 

Don't do me, just buy the Pixel and don't have any regrets.

First of all, I must say the iphone is a stunning piece of hardware. The design is beautiful and the build quality is just perfect. No gaps whatsoever. Even the "sharp" edges are smoothened out that it feels pleasant in the hand. 

To my surprise, the iphone 12 is almost the exact same size as the pixel 5. And an other big surprise, was just how light and hollow the iphone felt. It actually felt a bit cheap and I never thought I'd say this, but for me the pixel felt more premium. Even though, I remember a lot of people in this sub were calling the 5 too light. 

Even my die hard apple fan who just bought an iphone 11 instead of the 12 told me that she is happy she bought the 11 cause the 12 doesn't have a glass back. I had to tell her that it's actual glass. She thought it's plastic and that's why it felt so cheap. 

Anyway, the rest of the iphone is apple standard and there are no complaints whatsoever. The haptic engine feels great (looking at you google), the display looks nice, speed, camera, all good. That's also just a confirmation what the youtubers say about the phone. 

Nevertheless, I like the shift to lighter devices, even though it feels less premium. Happy that apple is taking this path, cause past iphones just were too heavy to my taste. 

Tldr: iphone 12 feels lighter and a bit cheap, even compared to the pixel 5. Still a nice phone with amazing hardware and would recommend to any ios user.

<p>To my surprise, the iphone 12 is almost the exact same size as the pixel 5. And an other big surprise, was just how light and hollow the iphone felt. It actually felt a bit cheap and I never thought I&#39;d say this, but for me the pixel felt more premium. Even though, I remember a lot of people in this sub were calling the 5 too light. </p>

<p>Even my die hard apple fan friend who just bought an iphone 11 instead of the 12 told me that she is happy she bought the 11 cause the 12 doesn&#39;t have a glass back. I had to tell her that it&#39;s actual glass. She thought it&#39;s plastic and that&#39;s why it felt so cheap. </p>

<p>Anyway, the rest of the iphone is apple standard and there are no complaints whatsoever. The haptic engine feels great (looking at you google), the display looks nice, speed, camera, all good. That&#39;s also just a confirmation what the youtubers say about the phone. </p>

<p>Nevertheless, I like the shift to lighter devices, even though it feels less premium. Happy that apple is taking this path, cause past iphones just were too heavy to my taste. </p>

<p>Tldr: iphone 12 feels lighter and a bit cheap, even compared to the pixel 5. Still a nice phone with amazing hardware and would recommend to any ios user.</p>
